The project commissioned by the Bucaramanga Aqueduct (AMB) is located in the north of the city. Currently the lot houses two water tanks but the objective of the AMB is to open the lot to the public, giving to the city a space mainly for children and pedestrians. The development of this takes into account the steep slope and the pre-existence of the water tanks. The proposal works as an articulator between the current Water Park I and II and the Morrorico pilgrimage hill. It also has the capacity to connect proposals for trails that connect throughout the city, encouraging in the future the connection with the Master Plan of the UIS, the trails to the reservoir of Tona and the recovery of what was “quebrada seca”, now built to be the AV. MASTER PLAN 2050 •b
u c a r a ma n g a. c o l o m b i a • delivered
The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) with headquarters in Bucaramanga, Colombia, chose Castro Arquitectos for the planning of a Master Plan. The headquarters is located in the north of the city, currently the campus is closed to the immediate context, making the campus a closed place and with strong edges towards its neighbors. The Master Plan proposes a university campus as an urban park, where walls are removed, allowing new flows. Likewise, the existing academic buildings in their first floors are released to give way to activities that benefit the city, such as cafes, kindergartens, galleries, among others.

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) is close to the city. Therefore we found three problems 1) The wall blocks the interaction with the neighbors and this gives way to insecurity and creates isolates. 2) Lack of adequate green spaces for students. 3) The condition of certain buildings; in one hand structural deterioration and in the other hand the lack of open space, since they are boxes that do not allow a fluidity for the pedestrian on campus. •s
ection under•
The advantage of the campus is that this has always been a large green space but has not been exploited enough. Despite its large green areas and numerous buildings the connection and relationship between the built and the open has not been the most successful.

Project located in Tobia Chica via Villeta, aims to be a resting place for families. The proposal of this development is shared ownership, where there is a common social area of approximately 400mts and each family has its cabin designed at their convenience where they choose cabins of 50mt2 or 66mts2. In total there are six social points and each one has three or four cabins. The set is in an inclined lot of three hectares, which makes that the earth movement is elevated. For this reason and due to the properties of Tobia chica’s land, it is possible that the houses are made in stepped earth, generating a cleaner construction and lowering transport costs of common materials such as brick.

This area is designed to accommodate a large number of people. where you can develop different activities. Also these are arranged in the terrain in a way that has a dialogue with the landscape and horizon. In the images you can see some recreational spaces but the owners are open to modify this area to their needs.

The degree project focused on the construction of the future metro, punctually in one of the stations. The chosen station is Primero de Mayo station, located in the southwest of the city of Bogotà, Colombia. Therefore, the development of the proposal was based on the celebration of the arrival of the subway and as a city so varied and fragmented can be strengthened through a system of connection, not only for the incorporation of the subway but by a system where the pedestrian and the opportunities that can be developed through paths can strengthen the city. It is a conceptual exercise, which proposes a utopia, where the proposed buildings are needles in the landscape, a sculptural celebration at the arrival of the subway. •p r i m e r o d e m a y o s t a t i o n • • a.v b o y a c a s t a t i o n • The main idea is to connect these two stations and generate a path for pedestrians and real estate development

The aim of this station is to celebrate the metro. Consequently, when passengers get off the train or arrive at the station, they see a new space in the city, a place whose milestone is a large sculpture that marks and stands out in the landscape. This sculpture only has access to the same level as the metro. That is to say, nine meters of the level of the ground The mayor’s office proposes an elevated subway

In the middle of the route of the proposed axis, there are two large sculptures in the landscape. These highlight the intention of the proposal, the celebration not only of the metro but also of the city. These large sculptures/buildings face each other and allow access to the public, as the intention of these is that users go up to the top floor and have a view of the entire city.

Mixed trade towers are located along the axis in the lots that were most deteriorated. They receive pedestrians and cyclists from both sides. Three-story platforms are adaptable commercial spaces and a wide range of activities. The tower with housing modules also stands out in the landscape giving the inhabitants a wide view of the city.

By moving a little away from the axis and by choosing lots that are also deteriorated, I wanted to continue with catalysts as you move away from the main pedestrian zone. The idea is to create a new cultural zone and rehabilitate an industrial area that tend to be insecure.

Celebrating it with great force will make you look at our common place with pleasure. It will make us rethink how we feel about the place we live in and how we want to see it in a certain time. Celebrate it with new routes, new points from where to look at the city. To create a place that condenses the presence of a new force.
