OfficerRichardsalsoholdsafirefightercertificationworking withtheLeagueCityVolunteerFireDepartment.Additionally, shehasearnedherAdvancedEMTcertification. OfficerRichards willcompleteafieldtrainingprogrampriortobeingassignedtoa patrolshift WelcometoNassauBayOfficerRichards!

TheNassauBayPoliceDepartmentwillpresentaCivilian ResponsetoActiveShooterEvents(CRASE)courseforour communityatGloriaDeiChurchonApril7that1:00pm This classismeanttoeducateourcitizensonthephysiologicaland psychologicaleffectsofcriticalincidentstressandthe importanceofmaintainingsituationalawarenessinvarious circumstances.Thecurriculumalsoprovidesinformationon proactivemeasurestoincreasesurvivabilityduringactive attacks.ThispresentationwasdevelopedthroughtheAdvanced LawEnforcementRapidResponseTrainingCenter(ALERRT)in conjunctionwithTexasStateUniversity TheALERRTprogramis thenationalstandardforactiveattackresponse Tolearnmore aboutwhatyoucandoinanactiveattack,pleasevisit: https://www.avoiddenydefend.org/

REVITALIZENEIGHBORHOODPRIDE

The Keep Nassau Bay Beautiful Committee collaborated with Nassau Bay’s local BSA Troop 1966 to replace flags in various locations throughout the City. Chairman Michelle Weller generously donated funds for this initiative. The flags were replaced on the medians alongNassauBayDrive,Point

LookoutUpperBay,BalHarbourDrive,aswellasattheentranceto SwanLagoonandDavidBraunPark.Duringtheevent,MayorPhil JohnsonsupervisedandsharedtheIwoJimaflagplantingstory withtheScouts.Parks&RecreationCommitteemembersLara FordeandJacobFordeactivelyparticipated,alongsideScoutsHank S.,KenlonS.,MatthewB.,MatthewL.,PatrickS.,andAndyW.,and theirdedicatedleaders,ZacharyWhirley,MikeandHollyBaine,Tom StoneandCouncilmemberSommer Theoldflagswererespectfully retiredbytheScouts,andtheMayortookpartinasolemnflagfoldingceremony. Thiscollaborativeeffortexemplifiescommunityspiritandpridein NassauBay.

WaterisPOWERFULandduringaflood,waterlevelsandtherate waterisflowingcanQUICKLYchange.Ifyourareais experiencingflashfloodingorheavyrainfall,besuretofollow thesesafetytips:

Neverdriveintofloodedroadwaysoraroundbarricades.It onlytakes6inchesofmovingwatertoknockoveranadult, 12inchestocarryawayacar,and18-24inchestocarry awayalmostanylargevehicle.

Donotplayinfloodwatersastherearelikelypollutants, debris,andwildlifeinthewaters.Thereisalsothechanceof electrocutionifthereissubmergedelectricalequipment. Iffloodwatersarequicklyapproachingyou,besuretoget tohigherground.Inextremecaseswherefloodwatersare gettingintoyourhouse,donotclimbintoyourattic,butget ontoyourroofwhererescuerswillgettoyoueasier

The maximum speed limit for most streets in Nassau Bay is 25 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted. The speed limitinDavidBraunParkis10 MPH

This speed is set by city ordinanceandhasbeen determinedtobethemaximumsafespeedforvehicletrafficwithin thecity.Pedestrians,bicyclists,andlegallyoperatedgolfcartsalso usethestreetsformobilityinourcommunity.Pleasebecourteous toothermotorists,thepedestriansandbicyclists,andgolfcarts whentravelingthroughthecitybynotdrivingdistractedandstaying withinthespeedlimit.

TheNassauBayGardenClub’sApril9thmeetinghostsBrianaEtie, GalvestonCountyMasterGardener,whowillpresentthismonth’s programshowcasingherbsthatgrowwellintheGulfCoast gardens.Thesocialtimewithrefreshmentsbeginsat9:30a.m., withtheprogramat10a.m.,followedbythebusinessmeeting. Guestsarewelcometoattend.

AddressFloodMitigationprojectstosignificantlyenhanceourprotectionofresidentialpropertiesfromsignificantstormevents. RestorationofLakeNassautoitsoriginalretentionvolumeandenhancethepumpingstationtohandle6to9-inchrainevents withoutwaterbackingintothecenterofourCity.
