Citadel Gale preps personnel for hurricanes

tarting this week Navy ships, squadrons and installations on the east coast, as well as along the Gulf of Mexico, are preparing for the upcoming hurricane season by participating in the annual exercise Citadel Gale. U.S. Fleet Forces Command and Navy Installations Command are conducting the exercise, which started Monday to test both afloat and shorebased commands’ emergency preparedness. The exercise continues until May 1, which is the official start of hurricane season. Hurricane season ends Nov. 30. At Naval Air Station Key West, Sailors and civilians will practice personnel accountability, notification processes, shelter setup, evacuation processes and damage assessment after a storm. This exercise is an opportunity to review hurricane plans, and more importantly, assist new personnel in becoming familiar
