for the most part and continue to do a high velocity of work.” It was tough for Cameron when he got sent down, as it is for any player. Especially when the Major League club is playing exceptional baseball like the Milwaukee Brewers did during Cameron’s time with the club. At the time when Daz was called up, the Brewers were 13-14 and sat third in the National League Central division. Fast forward to the end of his stint with the team, Milwaukee went on a 30-22 run and moved to second place in the division. Cameron felt that even though he spent a short time with them, he was proud to have played a helping hand in the winning ways of the Brewers. “To be with a team that was winning was very important for me at the time, just knowing that I could see myself with the Brewers and be a part of something that was a winning atmosphere was important… Glad I was able to give my input and side of things and help the ballclub win some games while I was up there.”
Cameron’s mind now shifts back to the grind of the Minor League’s and trying to convince the Brewers front office that he is once again ready for “The Show.” He joined the Nashville Sounds in Durham, N.C. in early July and played four games before taking time off for the All-Star break. Relaxation might have been more difficult compared to other players taking a quick vacation before the start of play again on July 18, as Cameron welcomed a new baby girl to the family a month before. “There’s a lot of things you go through and process as a father, but for the most part being in the hospital, being in that room and seeing birth is something special.”
Daz not only came back after the All-Star break with the motivation of getting back to the Majors, but with the new motivation of having to provide for another member of his family. Quickly, Cameron showed off his renewed “Dad Strength” and his impressive swings at the plate. In a three-game weekend series against the Indianapolis Indians, Cameron went 5-for-12 with two homers to extend his Sounds hitting streak to six games. The week after in a six-game series against the Charlotte Knights, the numbers improved even more, going 6-for-22 with a homer to improve his on-base streak to 12 games. It is as locked in as the outfielder has ever been in his career. “It’s the routine that’s been instilled in my game and improve from at-bat to at-bat and I showed that in the first two games against Indianapolis.”
Cameron has faced adversity and failure as much as anybody that has played the game of baseball. Through his 2025 performance and the experiences he now faces with his life and new team, it’s easy to tell that Cameron was made to go through these battles. The Milwaukee Brewers sit towards the top of the National League going into the final stages of the 2025 season, and Cameron’s ability to stick with it after all he’s gone through might end up playing out as being the perfect guy down the stretch for Milwaukee. July 18, 2025, might have been the start of Cameron’s best baseball chapter.

Jeff Hem continues to serve as the “Voice of the Sounds” for the 2025 season. He enters his 14th year in Music City and his 22nd overall season behind the microphone.
In 2012, Hem arrived in Nashville with eight seasons and over 1,100 games professional baseball experience under his belt. He spent the previous seven season with the Single-A Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League, including 2009 when the Cougars, then an A’s affiliate, were managed by former Sounds skipper Steve Scarsone.
Career highlights for the 43-year-old include making his regular season Major League broadcast debut in June 2018 with the Oakland A’s for a doubleheader at the Chicago White Sox, being part of the radio broadcast team for the Triple-A All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio, in July 2018, and calling the inaugural game at First Horizon Park on April 17, 2015. While with the Cougars, he also enjoyed the opportunity to call two minor league games at Wrigley Field in Chicago and Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
His additional duties for the Sounds include sponsorship and corporate sales and performing public speaking engagements. In the offseason, Hem continues to call the play-by-play action for several college and high school games on television and radio.
