THE CONVICTION REVIEW UNIT & EXECUTIVE CLEMENCY

OVERVIEW

This seminar will explore two ways a convicted person can pursue a claim of innocence after their trial. One route is a Conviction Review Unit (CRU) from the local District Attorney’s Office, and the other is an “exoneration,” which is a form of clemency issued by the governor.

Presenters will discuss how claims are made and how the process works, as well as an experience pursuing an exoneration claim on behalf of a client who had a successful hearing and pending decision.

FROM NEW STATUTORY MANDATES TO SEC ENFORCEMENT

OVERVIEW

Risks posed to companies by climate change are increasingly being seen as a mainstream financial risk that regulators should address, with many calling for new rules regarding climate risk disclosure.

This seminar will provide an overview of recent developments in the Biden Administration focusing on climate risk disclosure, including the new Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Enforcement Task Force focused on Climate and ESG issues, shareholder actions, and state law developments. It will cover the current legal requirements regarding climate risk reporting and ongoing developments in this quickly evolving legal landscape.
