We're celebrating success... but not stopping here!
As a Whole School SEND member, you're well aware of the work that we have been delivering through funding from the DfE over the last few years – you've more than likely attended a webinar, used one (or more) of our resources, or linked up with your regional team.
We were able to offer these opportunities through the SEND Schools’ Workforce contract from 2018-2022. We know that they were very well received and have already started to have impact for children and young people with SEND - something we're celebrating through our easyread report, The Impact of Whole School SEND, which we hope you'll enjoy.
We're optimistic about the future, but we remain realistic about the hard work that is yet to be done. Our desire to more and better for children and young people with SEND - too many of whom continue not to achieve their ambitions - drives us forward.
We're committed to ensuring that all schools are inclusive in their approach so that we can improve outcomes for all learners. In her latest blog, Alex Grady, Head of Whole School SEND, explains how the Universal SEND Services programme is going to help achieve our ambitions.

Would you like to preview our online learning units?
As part of the Universal SEND Services programme, we are developing a series of online learning units to support the workforce with early and accurate identification of learning differences.
The series will consist of 20 asynchronous units, each intended to take 20 minutes to complete.
We are recruiting a team of volunteers from a wide range of regions and settings – both school and FE – to help test and feedback on the units, which will be produced in stages over the next two years.

Ensuring accurate identification of SEN in school and college settings
4pm - 5.30pm, 22 September 2002
A webinar to support you in developing effective systems and processes to enable the early and accurate identification of SEN in your setting.
You'll learn strategies to enable the use of national SEND data to support identification systems in your own settings, and discuss how the pandemic has impacted on the development of CYP, and consequently the identification of SEN in education settings.
This session is relevant for both experienced and new SENCOs and others with this important responsibility, which is particularly challenging at the current time.
Malcolm Reeve shares practical tools and templates to help schools reflect on SEND as they prepare for an Ofsted inspection. We explore Ofsted inspection outcomes under the current framework from a SEND perspective, and consider whether this framework is improving the education for learners with SEND. Angela Holdsworth MBE shares a Trust and school level perspective, having engaged in 7 inspections under the current EIF

WSS Regional Updates
Understanding the local context is crucial to improving national SEND provision. For that reason, each Whole School SEND region (designed to reflect the DfE's Regional Schools Commissioners areas) has a Regional SEND team, formed from school-based SEND practitioners, to support prioritisation of SEND across the region.
You can find information about the regional teams on our website. By updating your membership profile to include your region, you will also receive tailored information such as invitations to networking events and relevant local insights in this section of future enewsletters.

nasen LIVE returns to the Vox Conference Centre, Birmingham, this Friday!
Themed ‘Inclusion by Design,’ nasen's one-day conference offers an amazing opportunity to share SEND best practice and network face-to-face with colleagues.

SEND Review - Don't be a bystander!
There is now just over a week left to respond to the SEND Review: Right Support, Right Place, Right Time
We know life in education is busy and that it's hard to find time, but every response matters, and it's vital that we take this opportunity to come together as members of the schools workforce to do our best for all of our learners - including children and young people with SEND.
There are 22 questions posed through the consultation, which are outlined in our SEND Review online resources. You don't have to answer them all, and if none of them are a perfect fit for the messages you want to send to government, you can use Q22 to address any SEND-related topic of significance to you.
Let's help to make sure we help deliver the change that our children and young people deserveinclusion by design that sets them on their way to thriving in adulthood and achieving their best in life.
