Engagement Model support

Can I extend my thanks for the webinar and resource around the Engagement Model. It was reassuring to hear that we had understood how it is to be used and it gave me confidence that our staff had a sound grasp of the application for their pupils.

Headteacher, Bristol Editor: That’s good to hear. We learned a lot during lockdown on how valuable webinars were for delivering CPDL and we are committed to continuing online training as well as resuming face to face.

The school dog project

It was lovely to read the article in September’s Connect magazine about the school dog project and the adorable Wilf. We have had pet dogs attend our specialist setting for many years. Your article has made us consider the benefits, beyond awareness and familiarisation, and we are looking into having our own school dog.

Supporting teaching assistants

I attended nasen Live this year and wanted to congratulate the team on an excellent event. I especially enjoyed listening to Abi Joachim and the innovative work she is doing in her local area. It has spurred me to think more deeply about my teaching assistants and their route map through their career, and their access to CPDL.

Special School Headteacher, Newcastle

Editor: Thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was lovely to connect with you face to face. I will pass on your thanks to Abi, she will be pleased to know that more TAs are being supported as a result of her talk. Editor: Thank you, we try to showcase articles that inspire settings to change their practice. There is a growing interest in the positive effects of human to animal interactions and their potential to support educational outcomes. We would be interested to hear your story of engaging a school therapy dog for a future nasen Connectarticle.
