Welcome Dear fellow NAPSA member, NAPSA Would like to formally welcome you to the pharmily! The next few years will be incredible for you, and we are so excited to help you through it. NAPSA, or the National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association, has a rich history and has been around for 69 years. It is run by students, for students. It is the peak pharmacy student body for all 8,000 pharmacy students, and our key mandate is to advocate, educate, connect and inform. In this brochure, you will find what we’re all about. From our education sessions and modules, our campaigns, who and what we advocate for, your chances to go from rural to international, and our incredible social events like the Annual NAPSA Congress. We wish you all the best… Angelica, David, James, Jess, John, Nhan, Sandra and Shefali NAPSA Board

Rural Community? Hospital? What about rural? NAPSA's National Pharmacy Student Survey (NPSS) in 2016 revealed that 42% of Australian pharmacy students are interested in rural or regional pharmacy as a career path. However, 71% of students have no practical experience in these settings. NAPSA's Rural and Indigenous Committee Chair, Emma Conway (QUTSPA) came up with a solution by creating an interactive map feature on the MyNAPSA website. It features an interactive Google maps base, and then included details about current rural placement and internship locations. NAPSA strives to advocate and encourage students to experience rural pharmacy whilst in university. This is because experiencing rural pharmacy during a university placement has the ability to change students' perceptions of where they are capable of expanding their practice in the future.
