It’s been an exciting month in Napier. I enjoyed attending our Napier’s three Cricket World Cup games at McLean Park. It was great to see so many of you out supporting the teams – especially at the sold-out Black Caps vs Afghanistan match.

An exciting event on the horizon is the opening of the Napier pump track on Marine Parade on Saturday March 28 – an event many have been counting down to (if the response on Facebook is anything to go by). It’s looking great and I think it will be a wonderful additional to the Parade. Come down from 10am for the official launch and be in to win some great spot prizes thanks to Avanti Taradale.

We hosted the official welcomes for two of the teams – United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan – at MTG Hawke’s Bay. For me a highlight of both events was watching the stirring performances from William Colenso College’s kapa haka group. They did our city proud and I’m sure it will be something the cricketers

Over recent months we have been working hard on putting together Napier City Council’s Long Term Plan. It goes out for public consultation next month and I encourage you all to read it and take the opportunity to have your say on what you think we should be focusing on over the coming 10 years. Look out for a copy of the plan in the Napier Courier on April 22.
