American Airlines Policy on Missed Flights

American Airlines will put you on the next available flight if you miss your flight due to a delay with another American Airlines or partner airline flight, weather, air traffic control, or other regulatory delays or disruptions.

If the missed flight is because of things you can control, such as getting stuck in traffic or at immigration, note that American Airlines will only re-accommodate you on standby a flight and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Any passenger who misses a flight without notifying American Airlines at least ten minutes before the scheduled departure on domestic flights and 30 minutes on international flights will be considered a no-show and will face a penalty fee, cash or miles value.
