Site - Near Umiam Lake , Shillong DESIGN BRIEF The site is located in Shillong on a hill near Umiam lake.It has direct view of the lake towards north west and west. Towards the east and south you see the dense pine and broad leaf forest of Meghalaya. The winter are cool and dry , while the summers are hot and rainy. It is an earthquake prone area.

IDEA Have gone with the idea of a dome as the basic structure. The main points taken into account while designing are the sustainability aspect of the project and the user experience.I have made individual cottages for the rooms (keeping the present covid situation in mind) And placed along the periphery along the northern side so as to give different views to the users which keep changing .

Advantages of Geodesic Dome -: - Resistant against earthquakes - Efficient in insulation - Helps in amplifying winter lighting - Acts as a reflector keeping the heat inside

14

The porthole windows provide more natural light inside the dome, making the interior brighter.

Solar Fan

t

Panoramic Bay Window offers a nearly 180° panoramic view from the inside of the dome, allowing to admire the vistas comfortably
