Parent and Child Aquatics are for children between the ages of 6 months and approximately 3 years, and their parents. The classes that fall under this branch are Parent Child 1-2. The purpose of the courses are to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. In addition, Parent and Child Aquatics provides safety information for parents and teaches parents techniques they can use to help orient their children to the water.

Preschool Aquatics

Preschool Aquatics is designed for children 3 to 5 years old. The classes that fall under this branch are Preschool 1-3. The purpose of the courses are to facilitate developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills.

Learn-To-Swim

Learn-to-Swim is designed for children 6 and up. The classes that fall under this branch are Levels 1-6. The objectives of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses are to teach children and young teens to be safe in, on and around the water and the fundamentals of swimming. Aquatic skills are taught in a logical progression through six levels. Participants in Level 1 are oriented to the aquatic environment and gain some basic skills in each category. As they progress through the levels, participants build on their basic skills to learn and refine various swimming strokes.
