Desalination - time for talk is over Erwin Leuschner The panel consisted of eight experts stemming from various organisations and institutions, each giving a brief presentation if desalination is indeed a sustainable solution to Namibia's water crisis. “We are in dire straits, but we shouldn't be afraid and rather embrace desalination. There is no other option,” said Dewald Duvenhage, GM Engineering Services at the Municipality Swakopmund. His view was shared with the other panellists, saying that desalination is indeed the only option to ensure a constant water supply. “If we wish to discuss this topic we need to ask ourselves if we want national development decoupled from rain,” said Detlof von Oertzen, an independent specialist and Director of VO Consulting. Von Oertzen presented an interesting idea/ concept, to solve not

only the water crisis for the coast and the capital Windhoek, but at the same time address food and electricity security. “We need to decentralize development. I suggest the establishment of industrial corridors,” von Oertzen said. He suggests that one such industrial corridor could be established between Swakopmund and Windhoek. “If we build a desalination plant and feed water to the

capital, we can have agricultural and agrotechnical developments along the way,” he said. To address the energy crisis, he suggested the development of renewable energy sources in these corridors. The option of establishing a new desalination plant to solve the water crisis was first considered in 2004. This was said by Willem Venter, Head, Planning and Water Continues on Page 2

Paratus power station to be upgraded to 40mw Floris Steenkamp The Paratus power station in Walvis Bay, currently decommissioned because of its aged generating equipment, could return to its former glory in the foreseeable future, according to the Managing Director of Nampower Mr Kahenge Haulofu. Mr Haulofu made this statement on 14 October this year at the inauguration of Nampower's new substation at Walvis Bay, which also coincides with Nampower's twentieth anniversary (Nampower was founded on 1 July 1996). Moreover, in its new state the power station will have an output of 40 megawatts, almost double to that of newcomer Anixas Power Station that was commissioned at Walvis Bay in 2011 with an installed output of 22,5 megawatts. Anixas power station is situated next to Paratus station. Paratus power station served Walvis Bay for decades since the seventies, but due to ageing equipment could not sustain its installed output of 24 megawatts. It had to be de-rated to 12 megawatts and eventually the power station was mothballed. According to Mr Haulofu Paratus would in the foreseeable future receive brand new, state of the art electricity generating units, anticipated to have an output of 40 megawatts. Continues on Page 2

HAN and NCCI S/mund condemns rise in crimes targeting tourists Erwin Leuschner The Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) and the Swakopmund branch of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) are appealing to the coastal business community and general public to join forces with both institutions to address the issue of the rising crime committed against tourists. “This cannot go on and something needs to be done,” said Anett Kötting from HAN yesterday at a press conference in Swakopmund. Paul Njambula, Chairperson of the NCCI Swakopmund branch, added that “we do not tolerate the increase in crime committed against tourists.” “It is not acceptable by Namibians. Enough is enough,” he said. The press conference was held in the wake of a number of incidences of crimes committed against tourists over the past few days in the coastal tourism town. Some overseas tourists were robbed at knife point, others had their valuables stolen during their sleep (namib times reported). “If we don't change our attitude, we will lose jobs in the tourism sector. We simply cannot afford to have crime increase,” Njambula said. While condemning the rising crime rate he noted that the tourism sector is currently doing well due to the favourable exchange rate for overseas visitors. “Every tourist coming to Namibia creates an average of three jobs. If a single tourist is attacked, we lose these valuable jobs. We need to change our attitude,” Njambula added. Kötting, who also serves on the re-established Police Public Relations Committee (PPRC), said that various points have been put together to Continues on Page 2

Desalination

Resources Management, NamWater. “It took us twelve years to discuss and we still have no answer,” he said. As significant reason for the delay he noted that the estimated capital investment required for a new desalination plant would be about N$14 billion. Currently the entire NamWater asset base in Namibia is estimated to be worth N$5.2 billion. “So you can see money is an issue,” he said. Venter continued saying that water is the cheapest commodity in Namibia and even if the prices would increase tenfold it would still be the cheapest commodity. Currently water costs 1.5 cents per litre in Windhoek, making water cheaper than petrol (N$10.36/l), bottled water (N$12/l) and milk (N$14/l). “Why the big outcry because desalinated water is expensive when we can up price tenfold and it would still be cheap,” he said. The viability of desalination as one of the options towards attaining water security for Namibia is currently still debated in certain circles of the society. But as the driest country south of the Sahara, Namibia is running out of options to supply this precious resource to its growing population and industry. But desalination has far reaching implications for, amongst others, the government, industry, local authorities and consumers.

HAN and NCCI S/mund Continued from page 1 address the crime rate and find a solution. The PPRC has sent out a list containing safety tips in the Swakopmund area, which some hotel establishments have put up in their rooms. “We need to create awareness and sensitise reception staff,” she said. While both institutions are investigating various avenues to address the situation, Njambula noted that the other stakeholders, like the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and government, need to step up and be more visible. “We need to see the potential in the tourism sector. We need to address and solve the issue before it get out of hand,” he said. As most attacks took place in the CBD of Swakopmund, the neigh-bourhood watch has since increased their patrols in the area. In the meantime HAN and the NCCI are looking into options to address other challenges, specifically socalled makalani sellers, who are notoriously known for harassing visitors. “It is a challenge, but I believe there also is a lack of co-ordination of different stakeholders. We need to get all involved and tackle the issue head-on,” Njambula said.

Paratus power station Continued from page 1 According to Mr Haulofu Nampower made strides since the national utility took over the reign from the pre-Independent SWAWEK. Nampower made significant investments since 1996 to upgrade and expand the capacities of the aged power stations and transmission capacity it inherited from the South West African-era. Notable is the Ruacana hydroelectric scheme (commissioned in 1978) with an installed capacity of 240 megawatts. Nampower installed a fourth generator at Ruacana which increased electricity output capacity with another 93 megawatts to 332 megawatts. In 2014 Nampower completed a project to replace runners of the inherited three generating units. This increased Ruacana's capacity further by 15 megawatts, bringing its total output now to 347 megawatts. Similarly, the von Eck power station at Windhoek (commissioned between 1972 and 1976 with an installed capacity of 120 megawatts) also undergone refurbishments since 2012. The refurbishments are close to completion and will return the power station's 120 megawatts capacity with a guaranteed baseload output of 90 megawatts, according to Mr Haulofu.

CORRECTION In Tuesday's edition of the namib times a report was published on page 2 reporting on an air incident in Windhoek on Saturday 15 October in which an aircraft belonging to Scenic Air made an emergency landing. The newspaper erroneously referred to the owner of the aircraft as Pleasure Flights, also an air safari operator. The name should have read: Scenic Air. The namib times regrets this error and apologises for any inconvenience and embarrassment Pleasure

Flights suffered as a result of this print error. An edited version of the article appears hereunder in the correct form:

Tourism one of few sectors showing growth - HAN “Together, we are stronger!” This was a clear message at the media launch of the 2016 annual HAN event, the Tourism Congress, Trade Forum and Awards Gala that took place on Monday, 17 October. The tourism industry is, according to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN), Gitta Paetzold currently one of the few economic sectors in Namibia that shows growth and success, attributed to years of hard work and active marketing by stakeholders and the Namibia Tourism Board (NTC) abroad. This achievement is also, according to Paetzold due to the strong and valuable partnership the Namibian tourism industry has managed to build, staying true to HAN's motto “Tourism is everyone's business.” Paetzold: “As such, strong bonds have been developed between HAN as well as key corporate partners, including NBL, as a company adding taste, ambience and great experiences to the tourism adventure in Namibia; professional and efficient services and advice from Standard Bank Namibia, and a strong commitment from Bannerman Resources - a uranium mining company still in its exploration phase in Namibia, yet willing to render support to the conservation of Namibia's natural resources and heri-tage.” Country CEO of Bannerman Resources, Werner Ewald - who due to the nature of his business, frequently travels across the Namibian countryside, stressed that all Namibians who travel on the country's roads, should make a concerted effort to ensure not only the safety of national roads, but also contribute to getting and keeping Namibia's roadsides clean. Standard Bank Namibia Acting Head of Marketing, Adv Sigrid Tjijorokisa emphasised the importance of the tourism industry to the national economy of Namibia. Tjijorokisa: “Especially at times such as currently experienced, when due to drought and other negative influences, sectors such as agriculture, mining and manufacturing are facing dire times. Tourism is an important sector that helps promote a country's image and opportunities, and thus worthy of continued support.” NBL Managing Director, Wesssie van der Westhuizen echoed the importance of the tourism industry and noted that given the diverse partnership that has developed among HAN, as tourism representative and the variety of other sectors, it is safe to say that everyone had a key interest / stake in “mining tourism” in Namibia. In marketing, promoting the brand is a key element for success, and in promoting Namibia as a brand, everyone's goal should be to strive for equity, where input and output are well balanced and result in optimal results. Van der Westhuizen: “What we can give to tourists to experience in Namibia is endless. Namibia is a brand, and it is important to make sure that tourists experience the best we can offer. We thus need to invest in marketing the Namibia brand.” HAN Congress Chairlady Janet Wilson-Moore stated, that given the success the tourism industry is currently experiencing, HAN had thought it prudent to focus on the modalities, operations and partnerships that make this industry strong. Wilson-Moore: “The HAN Congress this year will thus be held in form of a round-table discussion among all the key tourism stakeholders to ensure that the Namibian product ultimately exported to the global market is attractive, professional and unique. The round table debate and subsequent HAN Tourism Trade Forum are aimed at ensuring that all key stakeholders of Namibia's tourism industry, from accommodation and activity suppliers, to tour operators and destination marketing companies align themselves and unite their efforts to best respond to the global interest in Namibia as a desirable and growing tourism destination.” On the outset, HAN National Chairman, Rudie Putter, emphasized the importance and strength of the partnership that exists among the key stakeholders in Namibia's commercial sector and tourism, through HAN and its annual event, offering all stakeholders within and involved with the tourism sector a platform to debate efforts, and celebrate the successes of our country. Putter: “Just as His Excellency, the President of Namibia, Dr Hage Geingob had, since taking office, shared opportunities for business and partnerships with the international community, so should the tourism industry ensure that it continues to promote the positive image of Namibia and the uniquely attractive travel opportunities this country offers.”

Cessan 210 Centurion with the call sign V5JAG, made an emergency landing on open land next to the David Hosea Meroro double way in the vicinity of the Pioneerspark cemetery i n Wi n d h o e k . T h i s incident was over the lunch hour. The pilot, Wesley Thomson, was the sole occu-

pant of the aircraft and was underway to a guestfarm southwest of Windhoek when the aircraft had an engine malfunction shortly after takeoff from Eros suburban airport. Thomson, who was injured and rushed to Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, has been hailed for his flying skill in this

difficult and unforeseen circum-stances. Damage to the aircraft is classified as substantial. V5 JAG has previously been registered under the call sign V5-KUS and has substantial years of service in Namibia's aviation industry.

FNB gives big to SWAITEX First National Bank of Namibia supported the 2016 Swakopmund International Trade Expo (SWAITEX) with an amount of N$ 100 000. The bank's strategy is based on 4 P's namely people, partnerships, planet and profit and being involved in and with the trade expo forms part of the partnership pillar. The event took place from 13 to 15 October. According to the Area Sales and Service Manager in the Erongo region Mr Brian Kandanga, the bank's activities at the expo were manifold as the bank promoted investments, EasyBond home loans as well as vehicle finance and insurance. Furthermore, customers who opened a Lifestyle Account with FNB at the expo and those who opened an account at the new FNB Staff-Less Branch at Platz Am Meer Shopping Mall in Swakopmund automatically qualified for a draw of a Samsung J2 cellular. The FNB stand also promoted Treasure your Chest as October was cancer month and for every account opened at the stand, N$10 was donated to the Cancer Association of Namibia. “We also bought Cancer T-shirts and N$500 from the purchases made was donated to the Cancer Association of Namibia as well,” adds Kandanga. “We are truly excited about our partnership with the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Swakopmund (NCCI) and hope that it can expand as we continue efforts of assisting with SWAITEX,” enthused Kandanga.

Little Foot Nursery wants to expand its footprint The Swakopmund Town Council has approved an application by the private nursery Little Foot to rezone their property along the Henties Bay road from “Special” to “General Business”. The nursery now got permission to add more business activities to the existing operations. An application in this regard stemming from Little Foot Property Holding CC was originally handed in at the municipality in July this year. In this application it states that the property measures 9552 square metres and the owner has consent from Council to operate a nursery garden centre as well as a restaurant. With the rezoning to General Business it is the intention to expand the current business activities and accommodate amongst others a hair salon, a car wash and associated uses. In the Agenda of the recent meeting this application is regarded in a positive light, as the intended use “will complement the surrounding environment.” The proposed rezoning was advertised in June this year and no objections were received. “This is a clear indication that the proposed intentions are welcomed by the general public,” it states in the Agenda. Council therefore approved the rezoning with a bulk of 2.0 and also decided to levy no betterment fee as per the betterment fee policy of 2009.

Fire at old Bohemian Club Thanks to the quick response by the Swakopmund fire brigade, a small blaze in the empty building where Paradise Lounge used to be was quickly extinguished yesterday morning. The black smoke billowing from one of the windows was first noticed by employees at Abenteuer Afrika Safari across the street who called the fire brigade immediately. There was no significant damage caused. It is suspected that a homeless person started the fire. Before Paradise Lounge the building was known as the Bohemian Club.

National Energy Policy finalised by March 2017 Floris Steenkamp Namibia's electricity supply industry will be steered over a period of the next twenty years by a National Integrated Resource Plan currently under formulation by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. This was said recently in Walvis Bay by the Minister of Mines and Energy Obed Kandjoze, when he officiated Nampower's new, state of the art new substation situated in proximity to the Anixas- and Paratus power stations. Minister Kandjoze explained the resource plan will serve as a blueprint for the electricity supply industry and will in turn guide Namibia's renewable energy policy, an independent power producer policy and a national energy policy. “The ministry has just finalised the renewable energy policy. This policy spells out the various renewable energy sources we have in the country and how they are to be used in the future,” said the Minister. Adding his ministry is also in the process to review a draft power producer policy. On the power producer policy Minister Kandjoze explained the Namibian Government cannot shoulder the immense capital investment in energy production in the country alone. It there-fore

needs to position the country as a preferred destination for investors in the energy sector. “Namibia is keen to see investments in the electricity sector, and we wish to signal the country and its sectors, particularly the mining and electricity sector, is open for business,” said Kandjoze. L o c a l a n d i n t e rnational investors are encouraged to make use of this opportunity. With regard to the national energy policy in the making Minister Kandjoze explained it does not only cover electricity supply, but also the upstream oil and gas sectors as well as the downstream liquid fuels sector, gas sector and thermal energy. “I am pleased to inform you the National Energy Policy is Government's new ambitious energy framework which

aims to guide the energy sector in the future. The policy is not yet completed. We are currently starting with the second round of focus group meetings to make sure that all parties involed in the crafting of the policy understand what it is about and to make their valuable

contributions,” Minister Kandjoze said on the framework to complete the national energy policy. A National Stakeholder Workshop is also on the timeline towards March 2017 when this national energy policy would be completed.

The Omburu photovoltaic or solar power plant at Omaruru (right) is the biggest renewable energy project of its kind in Namibia to date. The Renewable Energy Policy caters not only for solar projects as a form of renewable energy, but also wind power as a renewable energy option

He points to water provision as one area that is currently receiving priority consideration, but also to servicing of land for affordable housing, electricity requirements and construction of roads, as requirements for the sustainability of the region in decades to come. Mutumba says that the Bank has a sound and sustainable pool of finance that can be brought to bear in the Erongo region. The depth of the pool is illustrated by large scale provision of finance for Erongo RED

Mutumba concludes by reiterating his welcome to local authorities and enterprises at the Erongo Business and Tourism Expo. The Bank opens doors to enterprise and infrastructure finance, and the Expo is one of them.

Küska supports Have a Heart Swakopmund

The Swakopmund Carnival Association (Küska) donated N$11 111.11 to Have a Heart Swakopmund this week. Küska is a non-profit organisation regularly utilising income generated from various events to support welfare organisations

The Swakopmund Carnival Association (Küska) has once again opened its wallet for a welfare organisation. After another successful carnival earlier in the year, the association recently donated N$11 111.11 to the organisation Have a Heart Swakopmund. Have a Heart regularly sterilises dogs and cats in the township in an effort to reduce unwanted litters. “You guys do an amazing job. This project is very close to our heart, which is why we decided to support Have a Heart this year,” said Jan Klein, President of the Carnival Association, during the handover this week. The money was received by Ute Holstein of Have a Heart. Besides bringing two or three dogs to a vet in town to be checked up and sterilised on a weekly basis, Have a Heart organises so-called Spayathons regularly. A mobile clinic is set up and various vets sterilise the animals and do what they do best. The second Spayathon this year by Have a Heart Swakopmund coincidentally took place over the past weekend. “Three vets treated a total of 61 animals of which 52 were dogs,” said Holstein. Since January Have a Heart has made a significant impact, having sterilised about 300 animals in total. “Many families want their pets to be treated, but they cannot afford the operation. This is where we come in,” Holstein said. She thanked the Carnival Association for their generous donation and said that a part of the money was already used to finance the most recent Spayathon.

NSA kicks off with NID-LF Survey The Namibia Statistics Agency will be conducting the Namibia InterCensal Demographic and Labour Force Survey across the whole country from 17 October to 11 November with the reference night being 30 October. It will also provide labour statistics that can measure employment and unemployment status in the country. NIDS is conducted every ve (5) years after the Population and Housing Census, while LFS is carried out on an annual basis as per Cabinet Directives. These two surveys are now combined, and

Mr Nelson Ashipala, Senior Communication Specialist at the Namibia Statistics Agency will be carried out as one survey. The survey will take place across the country in all 14 regions and will be conducted in two phases of listing and then followed by Listing and then followed by Interviewing. “Listing is the process where for the rst two weeks, enumerators will visit all households within selected areas where they will ask information about the head of the household and the

number of household members who have been living in those households for a specied reference period” explained Nelson Ashipala. After this, enumerators will randomly select 20 households in each area to represent all listed households in that area. They will interview the 20 selected households for a period of two weeks. A representative sample will be selected

from a total number of private households. This means that not all households in Namibia will be interviewed during this survey. Some of the activities that will be involved through advocacy are road shows and school visits. These activities will be used to educate the nation and our stakeholders on the importance of the survey and the NSA's mandate in general.

Salimi wants to put upcoming musicians in the spotlight Sharlien Tjambari

Salimi Gerhard, a young lady from Swakopmund have started the Smiley's Foundation of Hope in February and will be hosting the Smiley's Music Concert in December in Swakopmund. The motive of the show is to recognise talent and also to help upcoming musicians by pursuing their music career, “because I have realised that sometimes all we need is just a little push to discover what we are really destined for” says Gerhard. According to Gerhard the initiative is generally all about giving back to the community in whatever way she can.

Gerhard said when she was a journalist, she discovered that she had a passion for working with people. This sensation in her started burning when she involved herself in community projects with Meme Penina Haimbodi, the founder of Necessity Wellness Profession who assisted her with the Day of Giving that they hosted last year in the DRC informal settlement. She also helped out at Meme Naftalina Mauha's orphanage, and helped out at the Tsumeb Mentorship Club and that is how she became encouraged and motivated to start giving back to the community. “In 2015 I really started seeing life from a different perspective, peo-

ple who know me know I was never a responsible person at all, but I have discovered the potential in me and I want to use it to help someone else become a better person the same way I was mentored and shaped by people such as Dr Laurinda, my parents and siblings” adds Gerhard. Despite growing up as a problem child, Gerhard said her parents did everything they could to get her in the right direction and that taught her nothing but unconditional love. “I want to help people, especially those that seem to have lost direction in life. I want to teach them what I was taught in order for them to discover that there is greatness in them and this is why I started the Smiley's Foundation of Hope which caters for all, whether it is just being there emotionally for somebody, or just making somebody's life better even though I don't really have it all, I still feel I can make a difference” said Gerhard. She have been conducting research studies on the access to electronic media by upcoming musicians, because a few musicians have opened up to her about how their music careers are failing due to a lack of exposure. “So I have decided to organise a World Aids Day musical concert on the 2 December in Swakopmund, with all the upcoming musicians that are participating in my research project and the winner from Smiley's Talent show will receive a prize as well as an opportunity to perform with other upcoming musicians at the World Aids Day musical concert” Gerhard emphasized. The World Aids Day Concert is scheduled to take place at Tamariskia Town Hall in Swakopmund at 18:00 and tickets are

available at Shabona Investment cc in Mondesa next to Hero Supermarket. All the above mentioned forms part of the goals that Smiley's Foundation of Hope aims to achieve in future.

Bombenstimmung beim ersten SFC-Volksfest

Toyota Reigns Supreme again in the Kinsey report

The 2016 Kinsey Report is out, and once again Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) finished on top of the leader board with three gold and three silver medals. Toyota's locally-manufactured Corolla Quest and new Fortuner both crossed the line first, in categories where the standard is particularly high. Toyota's third category win was courtesy of the Land Cruiser Prado, which beat some tough competition in the SUV sector to claim gold. Silver medals went to the Avanza, Hilux double cab and the new generation Corolla (only bested in its category by its close cousin, the price-savvy Quest). Since launch, the Avanza has either won the category, or finished second. The results of the 2016 Kinsey Report are a clear indication of TSAM's commitment to customer satisfaction through stable parts supply and competitive pricing. The report is considered the most comprehensive parts' pricing survey conducted in South Africa. The survey is conducted annually encompassing dozens of the best-selling vehicles from various manufacturers across categories and is intended as an independent

reference for motorists on the cost involved to service, maintain and repair a vehicle. TSAM is particularly pleased that its efforts to make the cost of vehicle ownership less burdensome in these tough economic times have been recognised. This has been as a result of a strong and effective dealer network and TSAM's investment in state of the art facilities to achieve the best customer orientated logistics. However, behind these organisational strategies are committed staff who have shown that lifetime ownership experience for customers is one of their passions. TSAM is also proud of how well its locally manufactured vehicles - Corolla, Corolla Quest, Hilux and Fortuner - have

performed in recent years. These models form the bedrock of the Toyota brand and their level of success has required the commitment of every person and organisation in the supply chain. When one adds affordable parts' pricing and stable parts' supply to the list of Toyota's traditional strengths of QDR (quality, durability, reliability), it goes a long way to explaining why Toyota remains a firm favourite with South African buyers. "Our efforts since the beginning of the decade continues," says Leon Theron, Vice President of Service, Technical and Customer Service at Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM). "In 2011 we only brought home one medal, and since then we've made phenomenal progress. Our performance over the last three years shows Toyota's commitment to this course - this is a marathon, not a sprint. The real difference however is the commitment of each human link that contributes to and influences the supply chain. "New Fortuner moving straight to the front of its class, just a few months after its launch, is proof of our philosophy. We don't introduce a vehicle and then start thinking about the aftersales experience - it is a process that started 18 months before Fortuner reached the showroom," explains Theron. "In the case of Fortuner - and new Hilux - we've taken a fresh look at things and brought a

number of new initiatives to parts' pricing, availability and distribution." The success of this is apparent in the Hilux single cab. Despite its absence from the podium, it was ahead of most other onetonners. Its strong showing straight out of the starting gate is particularly good news for business owners, where running costs are a critical part of the overall ownership experience. Getting new Hilux up to speed was no mean feat: there is a total of 11 000 parts across the vast model line-up, each one of which must be evaluated in terms of availability, cost and quality, to mention only three criteria. However, Toyota's commitment shows in long-term objectives - not just for the new Hilux but the outgoing one too. For example, parts for it will remain available from dealers for 15 years from the end of production - which means even in 2030 the owner of a seventhgeneration Hilux manufactured in 2005 will be able to source genuine parts. Not many brands can make that claim. "The lifetime ownership cost of a vehicle has always been a Toyota focus and parts' pricing is a major part of that. The results of the Kinsey Report show how seriously we take this. Our team really has covered itself with glory in the parts' pricing Olympics once again," concludes Theron.

Rising gymnastic star competes at Junior Commonwealth Elisbé Swanepoel (14) of the Swakopmund Gymnastics Club and selected member of the Namibian Women's Artistic Gymnastics team took part in the Junior Commonwealth Championships held in Walvis Bay from 8 - 15 October. Altogether 27 gymnasts participated in the Women Artistic gymnastics events representing Wales, New Zealand, Cayman Islands, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Namibia. Elisbé ended 15th in the overall event and qualified as one of 8 gymnasts for the finals on the uneven bars. She was also the reserve for the beam final. Aside from the ranking achieved, the championships gave Elisbé the opportunity to test out new skills she has recently mastered at an internationally competitive level. This gives her a very good groundwork upon which to build towards her senior career.
