Are all persons in Namibia as part of their human rights not supposed to have their democratic right to apply, be heard and a final decision taken based on informed facts? It is also most unfortunate that the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources to whom the proposal was sent never afforded us an opportunity to state precisely what we planned to do, except for the statements which we read in the newspapers as having been said by the officials from that Ministry. Also, in a most unprofessional manner, our application was leaked to the newspapers which prosecuted us as the investors in this project and engaged in unwarranted public demonstrations and protestations against this project even though they did not quite well understand it. Nevertheless, we planned to invest in Namibia in the beginning stages over N$100 million and expand this investment later to many more millions by building a state of the art marine park on the Namibian coast which would have allowed many Namibians to benefit from the presence of the marine mammals as opposed to only few white owned companies which are currently exclusively benefiting from the presence of such marine mammals through tourism. After accident the search for “Boesman”continues Erwin Leuschner
The coastal community yesterday morning started a wide-spread search in the vicinity of Arandis to look for the black and white Jack Russel/Fox Terrier “Boesman”, who has been missing since Sunday morning. Boesman was in a vehicle involved in an accident – and has been missing since. According to West Coast Safety Initiative the two occupants of the double cab pick-up were travelling towards Swakopmund. A few kilometres before Arandis on the B2 the driver allegedly lost control after trying to avoid crashing into a springbok resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and overturning numerous times. Fortunately none sustained any serious injuries. “My husband was on his way to work when he came to the accident scene,” said resident Esté Oberholzer to namib times yesterday. Her husband rendered assistance and waited for the emergency services to arrive. “Once the paramedics arrived, the injured passenger Peetie asked for his dog. He was very emotional,” said Oberholzer. “My husband promised that we will search for Boesman,” she said. Once she heard of the incident she immediately posted the case of the missing dog on various social media platforms and it quickly spread like wildfire. The search for “Boesman” did not yield any results on Sunday and also yesterday morning. “It's so sad. He is all alone in the desert. I hope they do find him,” she said. If anyone does find “Boesman” they can contact Esté at 0812755481.

After couple fight man ends up in jail Erwin Leuschner
A 51 year-old man will most likely spend Christmas in custody after he was arrested on Sunday for allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend while the couple was on holiday in Swakopmund. The suspect has been charged with attempted murder, malicious damage to property and assault by threat. According to detective inspector Erastus Iikuyu, acting regional crime investigations co-ordinator for Erongo, the incident occurred on Sunday at about 8:30. “It is alleged that the couple, who are in Swakopmund for holiday from Windhoek, are accommodated at youth hostel and they were involved in a heated argument,” Iikuyu said. During the argument the suspect, Mr. Benjamin Benade, threatened to kill the 53 year-old victim. To defend herself the victim ran outside and locked herself in her car. “The suspect put the car on fire but fortunately the victim jumped out of the motor vehicle unharmed and she ran to the police station,” Iikuyu said. There she made a case. The vehicle was severely damaged. The suspect was arrested.

Mayor spreads christmas spirit Piquet Jacobs
It was a very busy week for the Mayor of Walvis Bay, Alderman Immanuel Wilfried, spreading Christmas cheer and spirit as “it is the season for giving. On Monday the Mayor made a donation to shack fire victims of food to the value of approximately N$16 500 through the Mayoral Relief Fund and a good amount of second hand clothes donated by good
samaritans. The Mayor was then present at the handover of a showhouse on Tuesday in Kuisebmond. The house was built by Fabreca Construction and handed over to Abraham Shitaleni and his family,
who now have a proper roof over their head. The spirit of giving continued on Wednesday when Wilfried delivered Christmas parcels to an amount of 1082 senior citizens in Erongo region, making visits to the town hall, Kui-
sebmond Community Hall and Narraville Community Hall. “Dear all, kindly receive this package from
council. Although small, it is my hope that it will make a difference to you and your family in your time of need. In
the same breath I would like to call on all residents to be extra vigilant when cooking and when caring for little
children in order to minimise the risk of a fire,” commented Mayor Wilfried during the delivering of parcels.

The fire started after workers of TransNamib, the national rail carrier, were busy doing maintenance work on the bridge using a welding machine. The sparks quickly ignited the reeds, causing white smoke to billow into the air which could be seen from town. The fire brigade remained at the scene to monitor the situation.
For the past few weeks visitors at Café Anton in Swakopmund can once again witness a giant gingerbread house standing inside. The house, which is decorated with a variety of sweets and Christmas biscuits, forms part of an age-old tradition. For more than 25 years the bakers of the café spend hours making it, which is then displayed. As usual children will have the opportunity to devour the sweets one morning. This year no date for this event has been fixed though. “We will open the floor sometime closer to Christmas,” said Silvia Kleyenstüber from Café Anton.

Liebe Küstenleser, geliebte Dinosaurier! Warum Dinosaurier?

ART EXHIBITIONS If tears could build a stairwell And memories were a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again, No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye...... You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, What it means to lose you no one will ever know

Golf: Walvis Bay Sages 2016 draws full field The 2016 Walvis Bay Sages Championships was played on Friday 16 December and Saturday 17 December 2016. The main sponsor of this event was Jack Jordan Personal Financial Advice and Old Mutual.
Once again the event lived up to expectations and no fewer than 63 players took on the course which was in immaculate condition. The weather was also excellent for golf and resulted in good scores. Visitors from all over Namibia as well as a couple from South Africa and an old member, Keith Fulton, all the way from the UK, entered for the event. Also present to address the players and guests at the prize giving was the President of Sages Namibia, Johan Arangies. Jack Jordan in his address made special mention of this event which has become a highlight on the golfing calendar. He said that it's a time to give something back to all the good friends and customers. He also mentioned that an event like this takes careful planning as well as lots of hard work and he thanked Andre Burger, Jerry Hartogh, Wayne Hart, Shane Westerdale and Frans Grobler for their efforts as well as the staff from the pro shop, ladies behind the bar and in the kitchen and the Club, specifically Gerhard van der Vyver, the green keeper for a wonderful job. In addition to the main sponsor, the local business fraternity again provided lots of extras to make it special for everyone. Thanks went to Wayne Hart, Rocco Viljoen, Deon Grunschloss, Pieter Greeff, Johnny Borges, Hannelore Frowerk, Nolita/Manica and Alfons Almacin who ensured that every player received a prize.
