A concealment of birth and murder case was reported at Swakopmund’s Tutaleni Police Station on Sunday morning, 7 August, after the body of a newborn baby girl was discovered behind the Tutaleni suburb. It is alleged that a group were playing in the dunes close to Tutaleni, when they came across the body of the baby buried on a shallow dune. The case was reported immediately, the police has no suspects at this moment, but the investigation continues.\ An in possession of suspected stolen property case was registered at Mondesa Police Station on Sunday afternoon, 7 August, when two males were arrested in possession of items ranging from liquor to toiletries. It's alleged that a group of men and women are stealing from shops in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, such as Pick n Pay and Shoprite, they then go on to reselling the items. Deputy Commissioner, Ottilie Kashuupulwa, warns shop owners and managers to be vigilant as it is suspected to be an inside job, and for stores to employ security guards in order to prevent such occurrences. In another incident, a 44 year old woman was arrested in Mondesa, Swakopmund, for possession of drugs. The information was received by the police that a certain lady was travelling from Windhoek to Swakopmund while in possession of crack cocaine on Sunday night, 7 August. The woman, who cannot yet be named, was then arrested on her arrival in Mondesa, Swakopmund at about 20:00. She was found in possession of 78 crack cocaine pieces. A very serious accident was reported between Karibib and Okahandja on Sunday afternoon, 7 August. It is alleged that a Quantum Minibus of the McClune's Shuttle fleet (N 1388 WB) was traveling from Karibib towards Okahandja, when a Red Golf (N 150573 W) traveling from the opposite direction collided with the minibus on its side causing the minibus to overturn. The minibus was carrying 11 passengers of which two died at the scene, 5 sustained serious injuries, while 4 sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Golf was the sole occupant of the vehicle and also died. He was identified as Frans Ipinge (46) of the NDF Military School at Okahandja. One of the deceased from the Quantum was identified as Florence Chilinda Monde.

Swakopmund Court Report Regional Court Tukandjeni Tulimekondjo Amatwi (30) appeared on charges of murder and attempted murder. The matter was postponed to 2 September for fixing of trial date. The accused is out on bail of N$1 000.

The matter was postponed to 7 September for further investigation. Valentino Majiedt and Scheffers Bernadette are out on bail of N$1 000 each and the seventeen year old boy was released in care of a guardian. Ronald Mbari (18) appeared on a charge of theft. The matter was postponed to 11 August for other reasons. The accused remains in custody. Ruben Kandowa (23) appeared on a charge of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft. The matter was postponed to 14 September for further investigation. The accused remains in custody. Erwin Tjimune (25) appeared on a charge of attempted theft. The matter was postponed to 11 August for other reason. The accused is out on bail of N$500. Ricardo Doeseb (22) appeared on a charge of murder. The matter was postponed to 8 September for further investigation. The accused remains in custody. Lukas Nangolo (25) appeared on charges of reckless and negligent driving and failing to report the accident. The accused is at large and a warrant of arrest was issued. Eliasser Kambai (27) and Kennedy Ngesheya (23) appeared on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The matter was postponed to 11 August for other reasons. The accused remains in custody. Sedrico Swaartbooi (18), a seventeen-year-old boy, Herbert Brandt (20), a sixteen-year-old boy and a seventeen-year-old boy appeared on charges of robbery and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The matter was postponed to 10 August for juvenile screening. Sedrico Swartbooi, the seventeen year old boy, Herbert Brandt, and the sixteen year old boy are out on bail of N$1 000 each and the other seventeen year old boy remains in custody. Shipanga Johannes (21) appeared on a charge of reckless and negligent driving. The accused is at large and a warrant of arrest was issued.
