Reports of Officers:
4th VP - April Patrick: Excused
3rd VP- Eddie Murphy: Route inspections in Livermore completed last week. Examiners telling carriers where to go when using the restroom, they are trying to make carriers take short cuts. An examiner and a carrier got into an argument on the street; a customer called the police. Please let carriers know what they should be doing before the actual route inspections are to be conducted. Pleasanton filed an equability grievance and management did not want to settle it at the lowest level. It went to Step B carriers got triple the amount. Why pay less when you can pay more? Had a problem with OIC Jean Harris, she was sent back to Suisun City with a carrier getting paid $720.00. In Richmond John and I went to interview Amritpal. First, he requested Labor to be there then refused to do the interviewed.
2nd VP- Terrence Super:· In Suisun City the P.M. was doing a standup and a carrier asked a question that the P.M. did not want to answer. I was there and told the P.M. they have to answer the question. I have been told the PM has been seen sorting parcels and the supervisor handling mail, hopefully we can catch some violations. The removal case in Suisun that I appealed with was removed and rescinded.
o 1st VP- Mary Abante: In a removal case where the carrier previously resigned, management wanted to pursue it anyway clearly punitive. The union sent the case to the B team where the removal was rescinded and removed from the carrier's record. Management was using a carrier to complete 3999s, without providing a PS form 1723 to the union. The carrier was also carrying his route on multiply days. We filed a crossing craft and are waiting for those ODL carriers to be compensated for the missed opportunity.
o EVP - Narciso Paderanga: Ed's on vacation, and prior to that he's been working 24/7 on Route Inspections. Management sent the same letters to each office asking to open negotiations. It's easier to roll over the same language but if management wants to open something up, we must bargain in good faith. In Oakland we have ODL's by zip code. Management must prove an "unreasonable burden" if they attempt to change something. Jeff Frazee was here to give us training on the LMOU negotiations. Go to N.A.L.C. website to vote on carrier issues dealing with us and the Postal Service. During route inspections a Carrier was told not to set the emergency brake and drive over a lifted 1 of 2
sidewalk. The carrier refused. Later the Police department was asked about it, and we were told it would be a ticket if someone was caught doing that. If that should happen again a P.S. Form 1767 should be filed.
