If a teacher/employee/student is found to be symptomatic, he/she should be referred to nearest health centre, the SOPs state. The guidelines stated that the concerned teaching- and non-teaching employees (up to 50 % of the strength) may be called to schools for online teaching/ tele-counselling and related work. Apart from mandatory masks, following regular sanitisation, respiratory etiquettes, hand washing in schools, the health ministry said that at all times, the teachers and students shall maintain a physical distancing of 6 feet apart, wherever feasible. Seating arrangement has to ensure a distance of 6 feet between chairs, desks etc. The health ministry has advised that weather permitting, outdoor spaces may be utilized for conducting teacher student interactions, keeping in view the safety and security of students and physical distancing protocols. “Cleaning and regular disinfection (using 1% sodium hypochlorite)

It is advisable that teachers, school counsellors and school health workers should work in unison to ensure emotional safety of the students, say SOPs. Similar SOPs were also issued on preventive measures to contain spread of covid-19 in skill or entrepreneurship training institutions, higher educational institutions conducting doctoral courses and post graduate studies in technical and professional programs requiring laboratory /experimental work.
NEW DELHI, SEP 8 (AGENCIES): In the backdrop of ongoing ‘Unlock 4’, partial resumption of activities in schools for students of classes 9-12 will be allowed from September 21, the Union Health ministry said. Guidelines have also been issued for school operations amidst Covid-19 pandemic. However, only schools outside the containment zones will be allowed to open. Assemblies, sports and events, which can lead to overcrowding, are strictly prohibited in the schools that are opting to start operations. The government also said that online or distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged. “Students of class 9th to 12th shall be permitted to visit their school on vol-
untary basis for taking guidance from their teachers. This will be subject to written consent of their parents/ guardians. Such visits and teacher – student interaction must be organized in a staggered manner,” state the standard operation procedures (SOPs) issued by the health ministry. F u r t h e r, s t u d e n t s, teachers and employees living in containment zones will not be allowed to attend the school. Students, teachers and employees shall also be advised not to visit areas falling within containment zones as per the health ministry guidelines adding that the schools that were used as quarantine centres will be properly sanitized and deep cleaned before partial functioning is resumed. KSU, AKM resolve to ‘denounce’ delimitation

DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) at a meeting held in Mon on September 5, 2020 have reportedly resolved to “totally denounce” the exercise of delimitation process in Nagaland till an honourable solution to Naga political issues wasa arrived at. In a joint statement, KSU president Bumang Kongyak and AKM president Nungdokyanger Ao said that the resolution was adopted after a threadbare deliberation on various pertinent issues including protracted Naga political settlement vis-à-vis delimitation exercise in Nagaland. KSU and AKM cautioned the government that “in the event of any circumstantial failure as a result of ‘imposed’ delimitation process”, the two bodies would not be held responsible. KSU said AKM affirmed that they were committed to “stand tooth and nail if such unwanted term of exercise are imposed upon because it will further destabilized the solemn nature of tribal affiliation and also create division within the society.” (Cont’d on p-5)

DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): Nagaland on Tuesday registered 25 COVID positive cases, taking the tally to 4245 cases. In a tweet, Health minister, S. Pangnyu Phom said 21 cases were reported in Kohima, 2 in Mon and 1 each in Mokokchung and Kiphire. Till September 8, there were 496 active cases, 3728 recovered, 10 deaths
and 11 migrated. As per the severity of symptoms, 485 active cases are asymptomatic, 8 mild and 3 moderate cases. Further, out of the 4,245 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people include 1823 from the Armed Forces, 1312 returnees, 309 frontline workers and 801 traced contacts.

Accidental blast in Dimapur leaves 2 dead, 3 injured Staff Reporter
D I M A P U R , AU G 8 (NPN): Two persons were killed and three others suffered injuries after a “vintage bomb” suspected to be of World War II era exploded at Burma Camp, United North Block-A here Tuesday afternoon. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-I Naieem Mustafa told Nagaland Post that as preliminary investigation an iron scrap worker was pounding a suspected vintage bomb with hammer when it went off. Scrap dealer was killed on the spot while four other persons were injured including one year old child, who later succumbed to injuries at a hospital. DCP said that splinters of the vintage bomb have been sent to the forensic lab for further analysis. The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment. The deceased were identified as Sadiqul Islam (30) and infant girl Mairam Khatun (around 1 year) while the injured were identified as Majida Begum (infant’s mother), Haibur Hussian (25) and Baharul Islam (30).

PTI: Recording over 90,000 new cases for two days in a row, India’s COVID-19 tally rose by 75,809 in the last 24 hours to reach 42,80,422 on Tuesday, while a record 1,133 fatalities took the death toll to 72,775, the Health ministry data showed. During the same period, the number of recoveries surged to 33,23,950 pushing the recovery rate to 77.65%, according to the data updated at 8 am on Tuesday. The COVID19 case fatality rate stands at 1.7%. According to the data, there are 8,83,697 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprise 20.65 per cent of the total caseload. India’s COVID tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, reached 30 lakh on August 23 and went past 40 lakh on September 5.
China’s People’s Liberation Army has confirmed that five youths missing from Arunachal Pradesh have been found by them and their handing over process to India is being worked out, Union minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday. The five youths had gone missing on Friday from the Sino-Indian border in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. They have been identified as Toch Singkam, Prasat Ringling, Dongtu Ebiya, Tanu Baker and Ngaru Diri. “China’s PLA has responded to the hotline message sent by Indian Army. They have confirmed that the missing youths from Arunachal have been found by their side. Further modalities to handover the persons is being worked out,” Rijiju (More on p-3) tweeted.
RD minister flags off 30 pick-up trucks for rural areas Correspondent
KOHIMA, SEP 8 (NPN): Rural Development minister, Metsubo Jamir Tuesday flagged off 30 pickup trucks (Mahindra bolero) for 30 Village Level Organizations (VLOs) covering 29 blocks under Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY). AGEY, a sub scheme under DAY-NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The objectives of AGEY is to provide an alternative source of livelihoods to members of Self Help Groups under NRLM by facilitating them to operate public transport. This would also ease in transporting goods between remote villages and urban areas, especially products and produce of SHGs and help in generating income. The dedicated AGEY

costs that might be required to be covered for operation of the vehicle. Speaking at the flagoff event at the RD directorate here, Metsubo Jamir congratulated the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) for reaching out to poor households across Nagaland. Mentioning that there were 12,000 SHGs currently in
the State covering 1,10,000 households, he observed that during COVID-19 pandemic, Naga women took the lead in caring the vulnerable persons and were instrumental in keeping the community resilient and safe through information education communication (IEC) dissemination. He urged all SHGs across the State to continue providing critical services in their villages. Congratulating the 30 beneficiaries, the minister reminded them of their responsibility towards their community, adding that success or failure of the programme would depend on the beneficiaries. Won’t accept Naga solution shrouded in mystery and secrecy, says NGBF DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): As guardian of customary and traditional structure and usages, Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) said it would “not accept a Naga solution that was ambiguous and shrouded in mystery and secrecy”. As the traditional conscience keepers-- a solemn institution listening to the voice of our forefathers, NGBF said it “will not allow our land and people to be eternally threatened by bullies with guns,” the federation asserted. NGBF in a statement said its position remained unchanged that the final agreement should be signed as per the October 31, 2019 understanding between Centre and two negotiating groups– NSCN (I-M) and Working Committee (WC) of NNPGs– based on the Framework Agreement and Agreed Position. It declared that Nagas would not be a party to any solution that was enforced and without transparency. Mentioning that it had attended a cordial meeting with NSCN (I-M) at the invitation of the latter’s chairman Q Tuccu on September 4, NGBF said during the meeting it had urged the group to unite all factions, come under single platform and disclose to Nagas the contents and blueprint of post solution political and administrative structure like the NNPGs had done
by sharing with Naga tribes and civil society the ‘Status Paper on Indo-Naga political talks’. This would clear any doubt, it added. NGBF reminded that for over a century now Naga village chiefs/chieftains/ GBs had been at the forefront of building Naga nationhood. Recalling how Kuhoi Zhimomi, son of Sukhai Zhimomi, chief/akukau/ GB of Kiyeshe (Sukhai) village, had led 2,000 Nagas to the 21st Naga Labour Corps to Europe on April 21, 1917, NGBF said he was ably assisted by other village chiefs from among Aos, Angamis, Lothas, Rengmas, etc. When the Nagas had submitted a memorandum to a British statutory commission in 1929, Nijevi Sema was one of the interpreters and he was chief from Shenakusa village. The Konyak, Phom and other Naga village chiefs always displayed valour and uncompromising spirit on the Naga political issue, the statement added. NGBF alleged that there was a nefarious game plan by an unprincipled and uninformed group of people desperately trying to “limit, discredit, marginalise and muffle” the traditionally honoured voices and authority of Naga village chiefs. It said the system of GB (village chief) was institutionalised by the British in the Naga Hills much before India got independence.
Pointing out that the system was unique that none of the North Eastern States possessed, the federation said this has been retained as premier traditional body. In recognition of its authority, British government had given red blankets as insignia to the village chiefs, it added. NGBF explained that most GBs are hereditary while some are appointed by the government but only after the individual had proved his domicile, integrity, social conduct and acceptability among the public of that locality/colony and who then work under the banner of NGBF. It further clarified that the GBs in Nagaland were not paid government employees, except the traditional symbolic uniform red blanket issued by the civil administration from time to time. According to NGBF, every single village chief in Nagaland was a proven man and an anointed leader, having every right to knock on the door of the chief minister and even the Prime Minister on the Naga issue. Stating that it was committed to facilitating and ensuring honourable and acceptable political solution for the Nagas, NGBF urged all “rejected organisations and destructive social media heroes” to think twice before passing judgement on its activities because it doesn’t need a certificate from any political party or group.
RTA Dimapur fixes auto, taxi fares DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dimapur has fixed the fares for taxis and auto rickshaws to be charged as per the guidelines with immediate effect. In an order, DC and chairman RTA Dimapur Rajesh Soundrarajan stated that six-seater line autorickshaw plying from Railway gate to Chumukedima would carry passengers as allowed in the SOP with the following rate per passenger: Railway gate to Purana Bazaar Rs. 20; Padumpukhuri/2 1/ 2 Mile Rs. 40; 3rd Mile/ 4th Mile Rs. 50; 5th Mile/6th Mile Rs. 60; 7th Mile Rs. 80; Urra peace camp Rs. 100 and Singrijan Rs. 100.
The order stated that three-seater auto rickshaw would ply with one passenger as per the new guidelines on hire basis on all routes with the present existing hire rate. Further, regional taxi fare for Chumukedima to Medziphema has been fixed at Rs.90 per passenger (only 3 passengers for Maruti alto/Van etc and 5 passengers for Tata Sumo/Innova etc). The taxi fare from Dimapur to other districts would be in accordance with the fare fixed by the respective RTA, it stated. The order stated that the above fare for taxi and auto rickshaws would be in place till further directives. Guidelines on safe practise for commercial passenger vehicles are to be strictly followed.

In a press release, president A Mane Phom and assistant general secretary Amos Phom lamented that department of power in Longleng district headquarters was still under EE power Changtongya sub-division, Mokokchung district. ITANAGAR (ARUNACHAL PRADESH), SEP 8 (IANS): Five persons from Arunachal Pradesh, who went missing on Friday, have been found in the Chinese territory, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday. Rijiju, the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister and an MP from Arunachal Pradesh, said in a tweet: “China’s PLA has responded to the hotline message sent by Indian Army. They have confirmed that the missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh have been found on their side. Further modalities to handover the persons to our authority are being worked out.” When contacted by IANS, Upper Subansiri district Superintendent of Police Taru Gussar said that he is very busy with the developments and can’t speak to the media at the moment. Earlier on Tuesday morning, Gussar had said that the family members of the five missing persons,
who many suspected were kidnapped by the Chinese PLA soldiers, didn’t inform the police. “People from this area go to the forest for hunting, which is a traditional practice among the tribals of this region. I cannot say anything till I get any confirmation about what exactly happened,” Gussar had told IANS over phone. Earlier in the day, Congress’ deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, had urged Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to ensure the safe return of the five youth from Arunachal Pradesh. “I am writing to you to register my grave concern regarding the condition of the five young men from Arunachal Pradesh who have gone missing from the Upper Subansiri district during a hunting exercise. Their family members have made statements alleging that they have been abducted, holding the Chinese People’s Liberation Army responsible for the incident,” Gogoi wrote
to Rajnath Singh. Rijiju had earlier said that the Indian Army has sent a hotline message to the PLA about the reported abduction of five persons from Arunachal Pradesh. The state’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations had earlier tweeted: “Arunachal Govt is closely monitoring the case of 5 missing boys in Nacho village, Upper Subansiri District. District Administration has been directed to assist all concerned agencies to trace the missing boys.” The local media in Arunachal Pradesh had also reported that the reported kidnappings occurred in a forest area near Nacho in Upper Subansiri. According to media reports, the abducted persons -- Toch Singkam, Prasat Ringling, Dongtu Ebiya, Tanu Baker and Ngaru Diri, all from the Tagin community -- had gone to the forest for hunting. Two other villagers, who had managed to flee the spot, had informed the other villagers.
IMPHAL, Sep 8: A private hospital has been served show cause notice for allegedly not attending to an expecting mother, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said on Tuesday. Singh reiterated that befitting actions will be taken against government and private hospitals refusing to treat patients. After a series of deaths allegedly after some private and government hospitals in Imphal refused treatment in the wake of COVID-19, Manipur government, on August 6 last directed all government and private hospital to mandatorily provide prompt service to all patients who reach their facilities, adding that they cannot deny them treatment. Despite the order, a private hospital in Imphal refused to attend to a pregnant woman, demanding a COVID-19 test result. The woman was successfully operated on Monday at JNIMS hospital later after the intervention by the state health minister after the video went viral in social media. Express-

The chief minister who spoke to the media after handing over five ambulances as part of strengthening the frontline warriors in the fight against COVID-19, sought for a collective effort to fight the pandemic. He said that apart from considering opening more COVID care centres, the state government was trying to fulfil other requirements to effectively tackle the pandemic. Maintaining that half-baked knowledge and opinions about the virus may create mass panic, the chief minister urged the public not to share opinion or apprehension based on assumption on the media.

SHILLONG, SEP 8: In a significant political development in Meghalaya, the BJP which is a part of the National People’s Party (NPP)-led ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance has threatened to withdraw support from the government if corruption was not stopped in the Garo Hills Autonomous District (GHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) which are headed by the NPP. State BJP president Ernest Mawrie said that the party has also demanded for a CBI inquiry into the alleged misuse of crores of rupees under the Special Assistant Grant in GHADC and JHADC on an urgent basis. Meghalaya which was formed as an autonomous state April 2, 1970 and as a full-fledged state Jan 21, 1972, after being carved out of Assam, is covered by Sixth Schedule provisions of the constitution. Under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, Meghalaya has three district
councils - the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills. Accusing the two Autonomous District Councils in the State of misusing funds sanctioned under the Special Assistant Grant, Mawrie said that funds had been given to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, JHADC and GHADC under the Special Assistant Grant to develop the underdeveloped areas. He, however, said that the GHADC and the JHADC have ‘misutilized’ the funds to pay salaries, make documentary films and radio jingles quoting exorbitant prices and that tenders were allotted without following procedure while the guidelines clearly state that it should be for developmental works in underdeveloped areas. Expressing shock, Mawrie said that on September 29, 2016, the Centre had allotted Rs 1000 crore to all District Councils in the North East and out of that KHADC was given Rs 133.12 core , JHADC Rs 1.71 crore and GHADC Rs 33 crore. He said that on March 7, 2019, the Central
government again released funds out of which KHADC received Rs 34.84 crore, GHADC received Rs 31.40 crore and JHADC received Rs 11,62,65000. Again on March 30, 2019, KHADC received Rs 15.30 crore , GHADC Rs 13.60 crore and JHADC Rs 5.10 crore. Mawrie said that his party will try and speak to the State government to “put a stop to such corruption in the two district councils, and if that fails”, it is ready to withdraw support. Iterating the party’s stand against corruption, he said that even if they are allies now, the BJP had fought the election on its own ideologies with no allies. He said in light of “illegal misuse of SAG funds”, he has written to the Union Ministry of Finance to institute CBI inquiry on an urgent basis in order to punish the guilty as it is important to avoid such misuse in future. s the world desperately seeks a vaccine against the Wuhan virus or COVID-19, mega pharmaceutical industries from 31 countries are running a race to be the first to produce and market the vaccine. Of all, the leading ones in the race are Oxford University, Moderna Inc., Cansino Biologics and Pfizer BionTech. So far, more than 160 candidate vaccines are in development. Some 31 of these have entered human clinical trials. China where the virus was reported to have spread to other countries, claimed it has produced small vials of liquid that were put up on show at a Beijing trade fair. These were produced by the Chinese companies Sinovac Biotech and Sinopharm. Neither has hit the market yet but the makers hope they will be approved after all-important phase 3 trials as early as year-end. Russia had also announced it would soon be producing a vaccine known as Gam-COVID-Vac, designed by the Gamaleya Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, and is the world’s first anti-COVID vaccine to gain regulatory approval. The global market for vaccine is estimated at around $75 billion or Rs. 55,28,28,75,00,000.Russia aims to take up 25% of global the COVID-19 vaccine market with its new vaccine within the next several years. Still, despite the optimism of the Russian government regarding with the new vaccine, some experts remain skeptical about its prospects in the global market. However, high-profile COVID-19 vaccines developed in Russia and China share a potential shortcoming. While all of these vaccines have shown promising and "safe" immunization results in early clinical trials, the one big worry experts have is regarding the pricing and equitable distribution. Before a vaccine is approved for mass deployment, there are many questions regarding its distribution, such as availability, economically prices, profit margin and mass production. At stake are the lives of billions of people across the globe and business estimated at. A vaccine may be priced at anywhere between Rs.3000 to Rs.10,000 but depending on who makes it first and how long that market dominance lasts. The pricing will also differ from vaccine to vaccine. The higher its efficacy, the more likely it is to cost more. These factors also need to be looked at before we pin our hopes on just one vaccine candidate. The race for the vaccine has led to both China and Russia joining hands to challenge American pharmaceutical companies.These two are to conduct a joint trial of volunteers to be vaccinated by September end and results of which will be released early next year. There are things in human nature, such as prejudices, that the saint can only destroy through sheer neglect. But there are other things that have to be destroyed through violence, that is, through God’s divine strength imparted by His Spirit. There are some things over which we are not to fight, but only to “stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord…” (see Exodus 14:13). But every theory or thought that raises itself up as a fortified barrier “against the knowledge of God” is to be determinedly demolished by drawing on God’s power, not through human effort or by compromise (see 2 Corinthians 10:4). It is only when God has transformed our nature and we have entered into the experience of sanctification that the fight begins. The warfare is not against sin; we can never fight against sin— Jesus Christ conquered that in His redemption of us. The conflict is waged over turning our natural life into a spiritual life. This is never done easily, nor does God intend that it be so. It is accomplished only through a series of moral choices. God does not make us holy in the sense that He makes our character holy. He makes us holy in the sense that He has made us innocent before Him. And then we have to turn that innocence into holy character through the moral choices we make. These choices are continually opposed and hostile to the things of our natural life which have become so deeply entrenched— the very things that raise themselves up as fortified barriers “against the knowledge of God.” We can either turn back, making ourselves of no value to the kingdom of God, or we can determinedly demolish these things, allowing Jesus to bring another son to glory (see Hebrews 2:10).

Our Temples, Masjids, Churches, Stupas etc. raise funds for all sorts of their day to day operations through crowdfunding. The issuing of the initial public offers(IPO) by the big business houses to fund their cherishing projects in terms of shares to the public may also be viewed as a form of crowdfunding only. Crowdfunding has been used to fund a wide range of for-profit, entrepreneurial ventures also nowadays such as artistic and creative projects, medical expenses, travelling, community-oriented projects, socio-economic developmental projects etc.
Crowdfunding can be mostly of two types: reward based and equity based. In reward based crowdfunding, the entrepreneurs pre-sell a product or service to launch a business concept without incurring debt or sacrificing equity or shares. On the other hand, in equity based crowd funding, the backer receives the shares of a company, usually in its early stages, in exchange for the money pledged. Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regulates the legal aspects of crowdfunding in India. Internet sources reveals that equity based crowdfunding is illegal in India whereas reward based crowdfunding is absolutely legal and it has the untapped potential to harness. Crizer World is such a reward based online crowdfunding platform and it is propagating gradually throughout the world these days. This system identifies itself as a community based helping programme which assures 100% distribution of its funds among its members and it has the motto “by the people, for the people”. It has recently launched a digital currency point also named “Criza” which is equivalent to Rs 80 and transactions are made via Criza in this system. As per their proclamation, after some time, Criza can be exchanged with any currency of the world too. The system is equipped with a very tempting jargon called ‘autopool’ which promises high monetary gains within 2 years time even without promoting it to anybody. Nowhere was the relationship between the teachers and the parents, between the animated schools and the dynamics of homes assumed greater significance than the current pandemic-induced crisis, especially in the field of teaching and learning. The parents sincerely appreciate pace adoption of new dimensions in teaching whereupon the teachers are suddenly pressured to work, although never will our human limitation permit us to truly feel the pain and struggles the teachers exert in this new learning environment in educating our children. The noble endeavours of the teachers in devising ways and means to academically come to the rescue our children braving all odds need to be reckoned with. Simultaneously, with free social mobility having restricted, schools closed and teaching materials (for students) passed to parents through various gadgets, the burden of parents all the more registered a rapid spike. The bulk of schools’ responsibility appeared to have been transferred and turned to the table of parents. Now, in a reverse of responsibility, the parents supervise children in making notes, guide them in writing virtual exams, provide them feedback in preparing projects and undertake necessary measures that the schools have generally been engaged with. Here, the point is not all parents possess the wherewithal to meet the increasing price of essential items simultaneously with exaction of regular amount of schools’ tuition fees at a time when the prospect of earning dims and worse, loss of jobs surge. In addition, parents are obliged to tend to the academic needs of their children at the prime time of the day and are partially deprived of the opportunity to venture out and find jobs (to make a living). Naga freedom struggle as I observe

istory itself is a living proof that Nagas were once free people who were running their own administration and practicing a very high form of democracy until the Britishers stepped in and subjugated the Nagas, and at their own whims divided the Nagas and placed them under several territories, where one part of it today falls under the present day Myanmar and the other part falling under the Indian territory with its population and land in Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. It is also a matter of fact that no Indian king had ever set foot in any of the Naga inhabited areas prior to the British arrival in the Naga country and therefore, the subsequent subjugation of Nagas by the Indians after the departure of the Britishers is not justifiable. Let it be known to all the people in the world that the Nagas right to self-determination is justified on the basis of its unique history, geography and culture, which can never become a part of India or Myanmar. Therefore, on the basis of the aforementioned facts, the Nagas declared their Independence on the 14th of Aug, 1947, a day before India gained its Independence. The Nagas desire for freedom was also declared to the world on the Naga plebiscite of 1951 in which 99.9% of the Nagas young and old, unitedly exercised their sovereign will and aspiration to secure their own political destiny and it is this plebiscite that justifies the Naga’s right to self-determination. Although the right to live together as an independent nation was the inherent right and desired goal of the Nagas from time immemorial, the subjugation and oppression from the Indian side continues unabated and in the process, so many innocent Nagas were murdered, tortured and raped for defending and showing their desire to live together. The Blood sheds and the untold hardships suffered by the Nagas in the past cannot be condoned even to this day and therefore, when we talk of the Naga struggle, there are bloods and tears involved in the issue which can never be compensated with mere economic package or financial assistance. Now in the present time, we were made to understand that the Naga peace talk between the GOI and Naga political groups have been concluded on 31st October, 2019 by withholding the NSCN
(I-M) demand for separate flag and constitution for further negotiation. While this breakthrough was a matter of joy to some for reasons best known to them, to many like me, it is never so. To conclude the Naga peace talk under such malicious circumstance is suicidal. It is ridiculously absurd to imagine how some section of people who claims to represent the Nagas could agree to a solution which only centres around mere economic package. We are all aware that the Naga issue is a political problem and until and unless it is resolved amicably with dignity in the best interest of all the Nagas, one cannot hope for peaceful coexistence. No Naga political group can ignore the important fact that the Naga movement was born due to the external intrusion of Naga country and as a matter of fact, the movement purposely embarked to defend the right to live together as a nation and to determine its own future. Any attempt to twist and turn the Naga issue in the name of fighting for Naga sovereignty by any groups or individuals is treachery and deserves the curse of God. It is truly dignifying that our forefathers defended the Naga nation with pride and died with honour. However, many Nagas are today doomed and deceived by the catch words of honourable and acceptable solution. Visualizing and observing the whole atmosphere of the ongoing peace talk and its possible consequence on the Nagas, the term honourable and acceptable solution which forms the hallmark of the talk to my mind is simply a misappropriation which is misguiding and misleading. The initial Naga freedom movement was never about a package and hence the expression honourable and acceptable solution is simply a laughing stock if it fails to defend the dignity of the Nagas and satisfy the true aspiration of the Nagas because we all know for sure that the only solution that can be honourable and acceptable to the Nagas is Nagas Integration and Sovereignty, and anything below that is not within our realm of aspiration. It takes us back to several decades when Nagas would courageously march by foot to foreign lands to procure arms and ammunitions to defend the Naga homeland. They walked in an unknown land under the most inconvenient circumstance without
food for weeks and months. Many of them died on the way from the enemy’s attacks and hunger too took its toll, and their bones still remain unburied in foreign lands. All these ordeals of the Naga freedom movement still runs fresh in our blood and shame on us if those solemn sacrifices of our true Naga patriots are to be bartered for selfish gains. The present Naga peace talk is full of ambiguity and perils. God forbids but if the peace talk concludes under the present circumstance sans integration and sovereignty, we can only expect another decades of vicious bloodshed and unrest among our own Naga people. Considering the fact that emotions are involved in the issue, the issue may naturally take some time to get resolved but that does not mean we should concede our fight and compromise over some package which will only profit a handful of people at the top of the hierarchy. We cannot allow some vested groups destroy the Naga Nation which was built with the blood and tears of all Nagas irrespective of territories. Until and unless Nagas from far and wide collectively march together in true spirit, we can never hope to achieve our desired goal of Independence. The younger generations are surely confused and a lot of us are unable to understand the whole imbroglio. Only God knows what the future holds for us but I’m afraid the present peace accord may not do justice to the decades long sacrifice of our true Naga patriots who have given their everything for the cause. Should the Naga Political groups and people involved in the Naga issue fail to represent the true aspiration of the Naga public, it would lead to terrible consequences within the Naga brethren and for which the younger generations will not be held accountable. Our leaders would do well to keep in mind this reality. Nagas should come together and strive with one common vision without serving to achieve our long cherished dream, the dream to become a free nation where Nagas once segregated can come together and live as one. Having stated the plights of parents, the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) is fervently requested to rein in its constituent and affiliated educational establishments to consider remission of certain percentage of regular monthly tuition fees. As the academic burden of students is equally shared between the schools and parents, the ANPSA is expected to relieve the parents of their financial burden dedicated for payments of regular monthly tuition fees on the premise that the working days and time engaged for teaching by schools are at minimal engagement. The principle of fiscal responsibility – exaction of reasonable fees and spending proportionate to the activities performed – might find its applicability within private sectors too. Remission of regular tuition fees at 30% (fees reduced for 30%) will even come as a great relief for parents during a crisis. Solidarity between schools and parents need greater depth at this hour. What Are The Differences Between A Legitimate Multi-Level Marketing Company And A Pyramid Scheme? A legitimate multi-level marketing company emphasizes reliable products or services. A pyramid scheme uses products or services to disguise its quest for collecting money from the investors on the bottom levels to pay other investors further up the pyramid. Pyramid schemes are doomed to fail because their success depends on the ability to recruit more and more investors. Pyramid scheme cannot be sustained and always collapse eventually. The only people who make money are those few who are on the top of the pyramid.The easiest way to avoid being defrauded is obviously not to participate in any promotion that appears to be a pyramid scheme. India’s voice becoming global, world Chinese troops with rods, spears near Indian post paying more attention to us: PM Modi
NEW DELHI, SEP 8 (PTI): Chinese troops carried rods, spears, clubs and pole weapons called ‘Guandao’ in aggressively trying to close in on an Indian position in Mukhpari area of Rezang-La ridgeline in eastern Ladakh on Monday evening, government sources said on Tuesday. As tension escalated at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the sources said around 50-60 soldiers of Chinese People’s Liberation Army(PLA) approached the Indian post in the southern bank of Pangon lake area at around 6 PM but the Indian Army personnel posted there strongly confronted them, forcing their retreat. It may be recalled that the Chinese troops had mounted a savage attack on Indian soldiers with stones, nail-studded sticks, iron rods and clubs during the Galwan Valley clashes in eastern Ladakh on June 15 in which 20 Indian Army personnel were killed. The government sources said the Chinese army may have planned to engage Indian troops on Monday evening in a way similar to

the clashes in Galwan Valley as its soldiers were carrying rods, spears, clubs and ‘Guandao’. Guandao is a type of Chinese pole weapon that is used in some forms of Chinese martial arts. It has a blade mounted atop a long wooden pole. When the Indian Army forced the Chinese troops to return, they fired 10-15 rounds in the air to intimidate Indian soldiers, in the first use of firearms along the LAC after a gap of 45 years. The previous instance
of shots being fired at the defacto border was in 1975. The sources said Indian troops did not use any firearm. They said the attempt of the Chinese troops was to remove Indian Army from the strategic heights in Mukhpari peak and RezangLa areas. The PLA has been eyeing to capture the strategic heights in the last threefour days, the sources said, adding the Chinese troops damaged an iron fence on Monday evening which was put up by Indian troops in
the area. India continues to dominate strategic peaks around the southern bank of Pangong lake area overlooking key Chinese formations in the Moldo area. The PLA late on Monday night alleged that Indian troops crossed the LAC and “outrageously fired” warning shots near the Pangong lake. Rejecting the charges, the Army on Tuesday said that at no stage the Indian troops crossed the LAC or resorted to use of any “ag-
gressive means”, including firing, as alleged by the Chinese PLA. “At no stage has the Indian Army transgressed across the LAC or resorted to use of any aggressive means, including firing. It is the PLA that has been blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive manuveres, while engagement at military, diplomatic and political level is in progress,” the Army said. Tensions escalated manifold along the LAC in eastern Ladakh after the Galwan Valley clashes. The Chinese side also suffered casualties but it is yet to give out the details. According to an American intelligence report, the number of casualties on the Chinese side was 35. The border situation deteriorated again after China unsuccessfully attempted to occupy Indian territory in the southern bank of Pangong lake on the intervening night of August 29 and 30. India has also rushed in additional troops and weapons to the sensitive region following China’s transgression attempts.
NEW DELHI, SEP 8 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Tuesday that not only Indian products but India’s voice too is becoming more global with the world paying more attention to the country. Inaugurating Patrika Gate in Jaipur and releasing two books authored by Patrika Group Chairman Gulab Kothari through a video conference, Modi said Indian media also needs to go global at a time when the country enjoys a “very strong presence” at almost every international body. “Our newspapers and magazines should have global reputation. We should reach digitally across the
world in this digital age. Indian institutions should give away literary awards like they are given in different parts of the world. This is the need of the hour and necessary for the country,” he said. The prime minister also lauded the country’s media for serving people in an “unprecedented way” by spreading awareness on the COVID-19 pandemic and by analysing government works and pointing out their shortcomings. Though the media is also criticised at times, more so in this age of social media, but everybody needs to learn from criticism, he said, adding this is what makes India’s democracy strong.

As regards, the conference has demanded the department to immediately provide pool vehicle as the power department Longleng was facing huge difficulties to perform duties efficiently. PSC has cautioned that failure to fulfil genuine demands at the earliest would compel the conference “to take extreme measures even up to the extent of discontinuing the revenue payment to the department.”

She said a Community Investment Fund (CIF) with a dedicated Rs 255 lakh was earmarked by Union ministry of rural development solely with the purpose of creating a corpus fund. Imtimenla said it was expected that there would be funds available every five years for purchase of new vehicles for other new beneficiaries, adding the fund could not be utilised for any other purpose. Stating that the SHG members would run the vehicles on pre-approved and determined routes and that charges would be fixed jointly by the operator in coordination with the transport department and NSRLM, she mentioned that the vehicles would carry the AGEY branding to ensure the scheme’s identity.

NEW DELHI, SEP 8 (PTI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, his French counterpart Florence Parly and India’s top military brass will attend a ceremony in Ambala airbase on Thursday to formally induct five Rafale fighter jets into the Indian Air Force, officials said. Parly and Singh will hold talks in Ambala on ways to further deepen bilateral defence and security cooperation after the ceremony, they said. The French defence minister is scheduled to arrive Thursday morning and will depart late afternoon, the officials said. The first batch of five Rafale jets arrived in India on July 29, nearly four years after India signed an intergovernmental agreement with France to procure 36 of the aircraft at a cost of Rs 59,000 crore. The jets, produced by French aerospace major Dassault Aviation, are yet to be formally inducted into the IAF. Ten Rafale jets have been delivered to India so far and five of them stayed back in France for imparting training to IAF pilots. The delivery of all 36 aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021. A second batch of four to five Rafale jets are likely to arrive in India by November. Sources said a preliminary discussion on a possible procurement of another batch of 36 Rafale jets by India from France may figure in the talks between Singh and Parly. The Rafale jets, known for air-superiority and precision strikes, are India’s first major acquisition of fighter planes in 23 year after the Sukhoi jets were imported from Russia. The Rafale jet is capable of carrying a range of potent weapons. European

Ne w D elhi , Sep 8 (PTI): India and Angola have resolved to expand their bilateral cooperation in a range of areas including energy, telecommunication, information technology and agriculture. The two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations at a meeting of the India-Angola Joint Commission which was co-chaired by the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Angolan counterpart Tete Antonio. A joint press communique on Monday’s virtual meeting said both governments shared the view that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is a global scourge and resolved to combat it through coordinated regional and global efforts, including at the UN. “They reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, trade and investment, defence and security and development cooperation,” it said. The communique released on Tuesday by the MEA said Jaishankar and Antonio also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. It said both sides agreed to encourage Indian investments in IT and telecoms and cooperate in the field of space so as to benefit the Angolan health and education sectors.

Harrisburg, Sep 8 (AP): Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump spent Monday diminishing each other’s credentials on the economy and understanding of the American worker as the presidential campaign entered its final, post-Labor Day stretch. While workers live by an “American code”, Biden said Trump “lives by a code of lies, greed and selfishness” as he met with labour leaders in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a key swing state. Trump, meanwhile, tried to put the halting economic recovery under the best light in a White House press conference where he said Biden and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, would “destroy this country and would destroy this economy”. Labor Day typically marks the unofficial start to the fall campaign season as candidates accelerate their activity for the final sprint to Election Day. Both campaigns reflected that urgency Monday, as Harris and Vice President Mike Pence each campaigned in Wisconsin, a state Trump narrowly won in 2016. MINSK, SEP 8 (IANS): Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kolesnikova has reportedly been detained at the country’s border with Ukraine a day after she was reported missing, a statemedia report on Tuesday. According to the report, Kolesnikova, one of three women who joined forces to challenge President Alexander Lukashenko in the August 9 election, was held at the border early Tuesday morning, the BBC reported. It comes a day after witnesses reportedly saw masked men bundle her into a minibus. But reports of the opposition figure’s whereabouts were conflicted as officials have not confirmed what has happened to her, and it remains unclear as to what exactly happened at the border crossing. The Belarusian Coordination Council - a body set up by the opposition to oversee a transfer of power after the disputed election - said it had no idea of her whereabouts, adding that press secretary Anton Rodnenkov and executive secretary Ivan Kravtsov had also disappeared. UK judge rejects delay in Assange extradition hearing London, Sep 8 (AP): A British judge on Monday rejected a request by lawyers for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to delay his extradition hearing until next year to give his lawyers more time to respond to US allegations that he conspired with hackers to obtain classified information. The adjournment request came on the first day of a London court hearing where Assange is fighting American prosecutors’ attempt to send him to the US to stand trial on spying charges. US prosecutors have indicted the 49-yearold Australian on 18 espionage and computer misuse charges over WikiLeaks’ publication of secret U.S. military documents a decade ago. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 175 years in prison. Assange’s lawyers say the prosecution is a politically motivated abuse of power that will stifle press freedom and put journalists around the world at risk. Tokyo, Sep 8 (IANS): Official campaigning for the top post of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) began on Tuesday, with three candidates in the fray to replace outgoing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe is stepping down due to a recurrent health issue that had also abruptly ended his first tenure as Prime Minister in 2007, reports Xinhua news agency. The candidates are Chief Cabinet Secretary and government spokesman Yoshihide Suga (71), former Defence Minister Shigeru Ishiba (63), and LDP policy chief Fumio Kishida (63). While the leadership election will be held on September 14, the new Prime Minister will be announced at an extraordinary Diet (Parliament) session two days later. The winner of the election is almost certain to become the next Prime Min-
ister owing the LDP’s dominance in both chambers of Japan’s bicameral Parliament. Suga, who has the backing of the majority of LDP lawmakers, has promised to continue with Abe’s economic policies and approach to tackling the novel coronavirus pandemic. But on September 4, the striker published a video message confirming that he would remain at the club for the 2020-21 season to see out the remaining year of his contract. Boxer Sarita recovers from COVID-19
New Delhi, Sep 8 (PTI): Former world champion boxer L Sarita Devi has recovered from COVID-19 but has quarantined herself away from her home in Imphal for at least the next 10 days to ensure that her young son’s “well being is not compromised”. The 38-year-old had tested positive for the dreaded virus on August 17 along with her husband Thoiba Singh. She was discharged from a care facility on Monday after returning a negative test. “I came back yesterday after testing negative. My husband was discharged last week but I had to spend a few more days at the COVID care centre after my test came positive. But thankfully I am out of there now,” Sarita told PTI. She has lodged herself at the hostel of her academy near her home in Imphal to ensure that her seven-yearold son Tomthin is not at risk. The child had tested negative for the virus last month. Sarita was mostly asymptomatic for the duration of her illness, experiencing only mild fever for a day along with a blocked nose. Sarita is an Asian Games bronze-winner, besides being a five-time Asian Championships goldmedallist.

On Monday, Sindhu changed her original decision to pull out of the event due to personal reasons after Badminton Association of India (BAI) President Himanta Biswa Sarma requested her to play. “I have requested Sindhu to join the team as we have a favourable draw and have the best chance to
take a shot at the medal at the Cup,” Sarma wrote on Twitter. “She has agreed and will prepone her family function so that she can be part of the Indian team and play for the country,” he added. 26 Indian shuttlers have currently been shortlisted and the final team selection will be done on September 17 for the upcoming tournament. Indian women’s team has been clubbed with China, France and Germany in Group D while the men’s team has been placed alongside Denmark, Germany and Algeria in Group C.
‘Tokyo Games must be held next year at any cost’
Tokyo, Sep 8 (Agencies): Tokyo Olympics 2020 should be held next year “at any cost” given athletes’ efforts to be ready, Japan’s Olympic minister said Tuesday, a day after the IOC’s John Coates told AFP that the postponed Games would go ahead in 2021 “with or without Covid”. “For the Games next year, athletes are continuing to work hard in the environments they find themselves in. So I feel we have to hold it at any cost,” Seiko Hashimoto said when asked about International Olympic Committee vice-president Coates’s remarks. “I think Mr Coates felt reassured that the Tokyo Games can be held with further close coordination of efforts,” she added. Coates told AFP in an interview that he was confident the delayed Games would open as planned next year. “It will take place with or without Covid. The Games will start on July 23 next year,” said Coates, who heads the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS): World No.1 and reigning champion Ashleigh Barty has confirmed that she will not participate in the French Open scheduled to be played later this month due to health concerns and a lack of preparation. Barty also said she would not be playing at all in Europe this year. “Last year’s French Open was the most special tournament of my career so this is not a decision I have made lightly,” Barty said in a statement on Instagram. “There are two reasons for my decision. The first is the health risks that still exist with Covid-19. The second is my preparation, which has not been ideal without my coach being able to train with me due to the state border closures in Australia.” The 24-year-old, who had defeated Marketa Vondrousova in the 2019 final at Roland Garros to win her first Grand Slam title, further stated that although she is disappointed, the health and well-being of
