Hyderabad, Nov 28 (PTI): Hard selling his government’s reforms, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited global entrepreneurs to come to India saying that it provides an investment friendly environment where restrictions have been removed and archaic laws abolished. Speaking at Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) 2017, he said over 1,200 outdated laws have been scrapped, 87 rules for foreign investment eased in 21 sectors and several government processes have been taken online. “To my entrepreneur friends from across the globe, I would like to say, ‘Come,
Make in India, Invest in India’, for India and for the world,” he said. “I invite each one of you to become a partner in India’s growth story. And once again assure you of our wholehearted support.” Stating that an investment-friendly environment needs to be stable from the macro-economic perspective, Modi said his government has succeeded in containing the fiscal and current account deficits as well as curbing inflation. “Our foreign reserves have crossed $400 billion, and we continue to attract large foreign capital flows,” he said. To young entrepreneur friends from India, he said: “Each of you has something valuable to contribute towards creating a New India by 2022. You are vehicles of change and instruments of India’s transformation”. Listing out business friendly measures the government has undertaken, Modi said loans worth Rs 4.28 trillion (Rs 4.28 lakh crore) have been sanctioned under the entrepreneurship loan scheme, MUDRA.

CM invites investors for setting up bamboo processing plants D I M A P U R , N OV 2 8 (NPN): Nagaland chief minister, T.R. Addressing the 9th governing body meeting of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) at his residential office, T.R. Zeliang, who is also the chairman of the governing body, said that instead of sending the raw materials outside, setting up small scale industries for bamboo processing would boost the local economy while creating avenues for employment. According to CMO media cell, Zeliang called for reformation in NBDA for over-all improvement in the marketing sector. “Since massive bamboo plantation is taking

place, marketability of the same has to be taken into account,” he said. Zeliang mooted the idea of inviting companies to set up mini-plants and small scale industries for processing bamboo locally. Though NBDA has been carrying out bamboo plantation covering all the 11 districts through the participation of village councils, farmers, SHGs,
individuals and societies, Zeliang, however, said that marketing of raw materials and its end-products remains a challenge. He said the huge cost incurred to transport bamboos from interior districts of the state to processing plants in neighbouring states has left the government with scanty profit even as local traders go at a loss most of the time.

Di m a pu r , N ov 2 8 (NPN): The Business Summit organized by the Business Association of Nagas during the ongoing Nagaland International Trade Expo kicked off with the session on Nagaland Special Development Zones (NSDZ) in the foothills. The panel discussion on Nagaland Special Development Zones was substan-
tiated by Neiphiu Rio, Lok Sabha MP, during whose tenure as chief minister the NSDZ was passed including former chief secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir. Rio in his remarks backed the concept of having the NSDZ in foothill areas of the state as means to attract outside investors by providing land for business and permanent settlement. Rio mentioned that small counties like Singapore and
Hongkong give land on lease for business investments and which had helped built up their economies. He said in turn, business generates jobs for youths. In this regard, Rio stressed that Naga people need to evolve new paradigms for development in accordance with the dynamics of emergent situation and to prepare to face challenges of the future. oppose the NSDZ, Rio countered that if some people do not want it then they should let those willing to offer land to make the choice. The NSDZ had to be shelved in the face of strong opposition by various apex tribe organizations led by Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) on the ground that taking away traditional ownership and offering lands to outsiders was not in the interest of the people. NTC secretary information and publicity, Theja Therieh categorically stated that NSDZ was nothing but shallow and self defeating by itself and that planning some thing like that was not going to promote resource mobilization but only promote more corruption. He reiterated that by Naga tradition and culture, the people and the land were inseparable and synonymous to each other.
