From Missi Correspondent IMPHAL, MAR 7: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday urged people to reduce the scale of celebration of upcoming Yaoshang festival.

Singh joined the chorus considering the alarming spread of COVID-19 across the globe that has also hit the country. Many concerned civil society organisations and individuals have also called for low scale celebration of the festival.

Yaosang, one of the major a festival celebrated in Manipur for five days in spring, particularly by the majority Meitei community and coinciding with Holi festival is due to commence from March 9.

The celebration of the festival includes playing with colours, thabal chonga (a kind of traditional dance form in the night time during the festival), sports events and public functions over the period of five days and all of which involve large gathering.

“I am deeply concerned that of the biggest festival of Manipur, namely Yaoshang is around the corner, and safety and health of people is of prime concern,” the chief minister stated in his written statement through the media today.

The chief minister made the appeal in line with an advisory issued by the Union ministry of health and family welfare on March 5 directing to avoid mass gatherings or possibly postpone such events till the disease spread is contained.

COVID-19 has spread to over 88 countries across the world affecting more than one lakh people as of now.

Though there is no confirmed case of the disease in Manipur as yet, 31 confirmed cases have been reported in the country.

Manipur shares an international border with Myanmar, which itself neighbours China, the country where the first outbreak of the disease was reported.

“As we may be aware one of the modes of transmission of the disease is mainly from person-to-person, between people who are close contact with one another and through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Therefore one of the preventive measures to be taken is to avoid participation in large gatherings,” the chief minister’s appeal note noted. COVID-19: Mnp CM appeals to scale down Yaoshang Conrad K Sangma (File) Correspondent SHILLONG, MAR 7: Governor Tathagata Roy has compared the status of the non-tribals communities residing in Meghalaya with that of the Kashmiri pandits’, who had to flee the valley.

“I get a sense that their (none-tribal in Meghalaya) position, their status is something like that of the Kashmiri pandits in the Kashmir valley,” Roy told journalists on Friday.

“I have made it clear to the ministers and senior government officials that I will not let any citizen of India residing in this country be it Khasi, Garo, Bengali, Christian or a Muslim suffer from any indignity or any fear,” the Governor added.

Roy’s statement is significant in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state after three persons died and several others were injured in violent attacks.

Hundreds of migrant workers employed in stone quarries have left Ichamati village following the clashes.

Roy informed that he had several rounds of discussion with Chief Minster Conrad Sangma, ministers Non-tribals in Meghalaya like Kashmiri pandits : Governor Roy and officials on the prevailing law and order situation in the state.

“I have told them basically two things. Firtsly, normalcy has to be restored and secondly, the morale of the non-tribals must be restored,” the Governor said. Correspondent Shillong , Mar 7: The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government has decided to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the state following the recent violent incidents.

“I have already communicated about this to the Additional Chief Secretary in charge Home and Political department to issue necessary notification and we will be calling the all party meeting including the stake holders to ensure that’s everybody is onboard,” he told reporters. Senior Congress leader, Dr Mukul Sangma, who is also the leader of Opposition, had written to Chief Minister Sangma for holding of an all party meet to come out with the collective solution to end the current impasse.

Reacting to the opposition Congress slamming the government on its failure to handle the situation, Sangma said, “Some individuals had made statements but I think that at this point of time we should all look as responsible leaders who will work for the best interest of the people and the state.”

Maintaining that the overall law and order situation is under control, the Chief Minister said, “… in the past 24 hours there have not been any incidents. The government will always ensure that all measures are kept in place for the overall law and order situation.”

Sangma however said that the government is also very concern of the lives of normal citizens that has been affected including the livelihood of the farmers who come to sell their products in Shillong because of the different curfew timings that is being imposed.

“We are trying to balance out all the things and ensure that the mechanisms are in place and minimum inconveniences are cause to the people,” he added. M’laya clashes: CM to convene all-party meet Correspondent IMPHAL, Mar 7: Troopers of Assam Rifles narrow escaped a powerful IED (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion on Saturday suspected to be planted by rebels along Imphal-Ukhrul Road at Seijang Tera Makhong village along Imphal-Ukhrul Road under Lamlai police station of Imphal East district today, around 9.45 am.

The IED went off when troops of 15 Assam Rifles on foot patrolling were approaching area where the explosion took place. This was the second instance of blast in the area but no casualty was reported this time. Few weeks ago, a similar IED explosion had taken place in the area as reported by police and villagers.

Villagers who staged a protest against today’s blast denounced such kind of activities causing panic to the innocent people.

They demanded clarification for repeated bomb explosions in the area, if any of the rebel group Security forces narrowly escape IED blast in Manipur

was behind the planting of the IED.

The act of triggering blast in the populated area was an act of coward people, they said.

MUMBAI, MAR 7 (PTI): The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday continued questioning Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor in connection with a money laundering probe against him and others, officials said.

They said Kapoor was brought to the agency’s office in the Ballard Estate area Saturday afternoon.

The ED had searched Rana’s residence in the upscale ‘Samudra Mahal’ complex in the Worli area on Friday night and had grilled him there too.

The questioning of Kapoor is continuing, they said.

The case against Kapoor is linked to the scamhit DHFL as the loans lent by the bank to the company allegedly turned non-performing assets (NPAs), they said.

Action against Kapoor is being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the ED. The central agency is also probing Kapoor’s role in connection with the disbursal of loans to some corporate entities and the subsequent alleged kickbacks reportedly received in his wife’s accounts.

Other alleged irregularities are also under the agency’s scanner, including the one related to the alleged PF fraud in the Uttar Pradesh power corporation, they added.

The CBI has recently taken over investigation into the Rs 2,267-crore Employees’ Provident Fund fraud in Uttar Pradesh, where hardearned savings of power sector employees were invested in Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL).

The ED action came after the Reserve Bank on Thursday imposed a moratorium on the capitalstarved Yes Bank, capping withdrawals at Rs 50,000 per account and superseded the board of the private sector lender with immediate effect.

Yes Bank will not be able to grant or renew any loan or advance, make any investment, incur any liability or agree to disburse any payment.

As per the RBI’s draft reconstruction scheme, State Bank of India will pick up 49 per cent stake in the crisis-ridden Yes Bank under a government-approved bailout plan. NEW DELHI, MAR 7 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asked people to stay away from rumours regarding coronavirus and emphasised on the need to follow the advice of doctors in this regard. He also asked people to avoid handshakes and start greeting others with ‘namaste’ once again.

“In such times rumours circulate very rapidly. Some say don’t eat this, don’t do that. Some people will bring in new things such as eat this to keep coronavirus away. It is my request to all my fellow countrymen, kindly keep away from these kinds of rumours,” he said.

“Whatever you do, kindly do it on the advice of your doctor. Let’s not become doctors ourselves,” the Prime Minister added.

The entire world is taking up the habit of ‘namaste’, Modi said. If due to some reason we have discontinued this habit, it is the right time to once again take this up instead of handshakes, Modi said.

He was interacting with owners of some Jan Aushadhi Kendras and beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna (PMBJP) through video conference on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas. “Jan Aushadhi Diwas is not only a day about celebrating a scheme, but it is a day to join with crores of Indians, lakhs of families who have got major relief through this scheme,” Modi said. It is also a day to reach out to other people to popularise this scheme so that poorest of the poor of the country can also avail the benefits, he added.

Talking about the impact of the PMBJP initiative, he said every month, over one crore families are getting benefits of cheap medicines from these Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Over 6,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country have helped people save between Rs 2,000-2,500 crore, he added. The cost of medicines at Jan Aushadhi stores is 50 to 90 per cent cheaper than their average market price. Giving an example, he said a medicine used for the treatment of cancer is priced at around Rs 6,500 Narendra Modi (File) Rana Kapoor (File) ED continues questioning Yes Bank founder Rana Avoid handshakes, greet with ‘namaste’, says PM Modi in the market, but the same is available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras for Rs 850. The government has decided to give awards in this field to recognise the efforts of the people who are running these stores. These awards will start a new, healthy competition in the field of Jan Aushadhi, he added.

As part of celebrating the Jan Aushadhi Diwas, Modi spoke with various people running the Jan Aushadhi Kendras at Guwahati, Dehradun, Pune, Varanasi, Pulwama and Coimbatore, among others. The store owners, as well as other beneficiaries, shared their experiences with the Prime Minister.

Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said in the past one-and-a-half years’ development is taking place at a rapid pace in J&K. During this period, over 3.5 lakh people have come on board the Ayushman scheme and three lakh elderly people, women and differently-abled have been provided with the government pension scheme in J&K. Modi also became emotional when one Deepa Shah from Dehradun, who suffered from a paralytic attack in 2011, broke down while narrating her ordeal and the high cost of treatment earlier, as she thanked him for the scheme.

Reform or perish A gainst the backdrop of recent violence over CAA , incidents at JMI , the JNU and protests in other states and most recent the Delhi riots which dominated national news; the issue of alleged police biasness, complicity and brutality has resurfaced. The performance of Delhi Police during recent violence continues to reverberate in Parliament where seven MP s of the Congress were suspended. As the enforcer of law in the national capital, Delhi Police enjoys a special privilege since it is under the administrative control of the central government under the union home ministry. The recent riots were the latest in a series of the police failures to uphold the law during the demonstrations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or the CAA . These failures do not come as a surprise. They are the inevitable consequences of something which were often mentioned in the past notably by former police chiefs. The relentless attack of politicians on the autonomy of institutions, and the failure of police officers or civil servants to resist the attack has reduced a proud police force to act like a puppet of the ruling party at the centre. According to observers it was not actually lack of leadership that led to the often confused mishandling of situation by the Delhi Police. One of the main problems is that Delhi Police continues to hobble under political interference and the police chain of command does not really function because the subordinate police officers cultivate MP s and Ministers to intervene on their behalf particularly their postings. A police chief is in practise, not necessarily the most capable. What tilts the balance is political favour that works under an arrangement of symbiotic relationship. In Delhi the former police chief became incapacitated because he had to walk a tightrope between politics and professionalism. This was a tall order and in the end, that pleased no one when things went from bad to worse. One of the most important yet wilfully neglected issue is for a police force to have a separate and independent intelligence wing and an independent investigation wing without political interference to have the most capable and efficient men to man them. This is a core recommendation for Police Reforms which came after the Janata Party government in 1977 established the National Police commission. Police reforms include fixed tenures for Director Generals of Police (DGPs) and Superintendents of Police. Also, the DGPs should have a minimum residual service to ensure continuity and stability and avoid frequent leadership changes. However, 23 States have ignored guidelines on appointment of DGPs. As of today, 12 States have not implemented the separation of investigation and law and order wings. The intelligence agencies continue to be hemmed and staffed predominantly by police personnel and others on deputation from various government services. The Supreme Court directed the States to review the progress on police reforms in 2006 and cracked the whip on States which were reluctant to initiate reforms. There was some movement towards police reforms but thereafter everything was put on the back burner. In July 2018 the Supreme Court once again reviewed the progress of States and UTs on this front. When things go wrong, politicians cannot blame police because the message is: ‘reform or perish’.

Daily Devotion

The Source of Abundant Joy In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. —Romans 8:37

Paul was speaking here of the things that might seem likely to separate a saint from the love of God. But the remarkable thing is that nothing can come between the love of God and a saint. The things Paul mentioned in this passage can and do disrupt the close fellowship of our soul with God and separate our natural life from Him. But none of them is able to come between the love of God and the soul of a saint on the spiritual level. The underlying foundation of the Christian faith is the undeserved, limitless miracle of the love of God that was exhibited on the Cross of Calvary; a love that is not earned and can never be. Paul said this is the reason that “in all these things we are more than conquerors.” We are super-victors with a joy that comes from experiencing the very things which look as if they are going to overwhelm us.

Huge waves that would frighten an ordinary swimmer produce a tremendous thrill for the surfer who has ridden them. Let’s apply that to our own circumstances. The things we try to avoid and fight against— tribulation, suffering, and persecution— are the very things that produce abundant joy in us. “We are more than conquerors through Him” “in all these things”; not in spite of them, but in the midst of them. A saint doesn’t know the joy of the Lord in spite of tribulation, but because of it. Paul said, “I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation” (2 Corinthians 7:4).

The undiminished radiance, which is the result of abundant joy, is not built on anything passing, but on the love of God that nothing can change. And the experiences of life, whether they are everyday events or terrifying ones, are powerless to “separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).

International Women’s Day is observed each year on 8th March to celebrate the “social, economic and political contributions” women have made to our world. It is the day to strengthen our commitment, to mobilize and to reflect on what needs to be done to create a gender equal world.

The UN Women’s theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is “Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights for an Equal Future.” The #GenerationEquality campaign is not demanding any outstanding treatment for women. It only demands fairness in the form of equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work, an end to sexual harassment and all forms of violence against women and girls, healthcare services that respond to their needs, and their equal participation in political life, and decision making in all areas of life; in essence, equal opportunities, incentives, encouragement, appreciation and to feel safe anywhere and everywhere. This year 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the most visionary agenda for the empowerment of women and girls everywhere – the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995). It is therefore, crucial to review the 12 key areas, flagged by the 1995 Beijing Platform for urgent action, to ensure greater equality and opportunities for women and men, girls and boys: 1) women and poverty, 2) education and training of women, 3) women and health, 4) violence against women, 5) women and armed conflict, 6) women and the economy, 7) women in power and decision making, 8) institutional mechanisms, 9) human rights of women, 10) women and media, 11) women and the environment, and 12) the girl child.

This Inter national Women’s Day, as the global community celebrates the 25 year anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, let us reflect on the areas where we need to improve in order to achieve #GenerationEquality. Some of the key challenges are the lack of women in politics and decision making processes; the issue of 33% reservation for women reflects some of the core problems of gender inequality in Nagaland; and violence against women, which is often not spoken about, is on the rise in our State. Even though as per the National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) report, Nagaland ranks among the lowest when it comes to the number of crimes against women, the 181-Women Helpline Nagaland and the Sakhi-One Stop Centres have received over 450 cases of violence against women since its inception. And the unfortunate reality is that women are hesitant to report. Our goal therefore, is to progress through changing the patriarchal mindset of our society. How can one be a part of the campaign to bring change? We must realise that each and every individual possesses the power to create a gender equal world. Let’s put our thoughts into action, be it in our homes, our workplace, our neighbourhood, and our society. We must take inspiration from Naga women pioneers like Lt. Rano Mese Shaiza (Only Woman MP from Nagaland), Zakielhunuo Tepa (First Woman Taxi Driver), T. Amongla Aier (First Woman IPS), Tokheli Kikon (First Woman Village Council Chairperson), and most recently, Onen Nenty, a female rider who is an excellent example of a woman using her passion for a mission. She has embarked on various trips to spread the message of women empowerment, and continues her mission, as she is set to take on an "All India Solo Bike Tour" which will be flagged off on 8th March from Delhi by Smt. Smriti Irani, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textile and Women and Child Development.

As we observe International Women’s Day, we applaud all women who are breaking barriers and stereotypes, and have made their mark in contributing towards gender equality. We also appreciate and acknowledge all the Government Departments/ bodies, District administrations, NGOs, and various organizations, who are celebrating this special event. Let us not end it with a one-day celebration, but let us continue to deliberate on how we can all come together in achieving #GenerationEquality.

The State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) of Mahila Shakti Kendra (the erstwhile National Mission for Empowerment of Women), under its implementing Agency, the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board, has been working to empower women since 2012. It is the Project Management Unit (PMU) for Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) at the district and block levels and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) State level, and the Nodal Agency to implement the 181- Women Helpline, and Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC) schemes. With the successful implementation of its pilot projects, SRCW has been able to expand to other districts through the District Level Centres for Women and the Block level in aspirational District, Kiphire. One Stop Centres are now functional in all 11(eleven) districts and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has become a people’s movement in the 7 (seven) multi sectoral districts. Partnering and converging with various government Departments and private institutions, the SRCW has come a long way to make a mark as an agency to cater to various issues concerning the women of Nagaland. However, there is much to be done when it comes to the need for more inclusive programmes to help women achieve holistic development.

If you know a victim of violence, call the 181-Women Helpline Nagaland (alternate number: 9485239098) today and help her. Learn about various women related schemes and programmes and help someone in need of assistance. SRCW-Nagaland Celebrating 25 years of Beijing declaration

It is Women's day today. Some might say, 'Why is it that Mothers Day, Daughters Day and Women's Day are celebrated grandiosely but not Son's Day and Men's Day? On a lighter note, well, there might be few who wonder why 'wife day' is not observed. The day, earlier known as International working women's day is observed every year on the 8th of March to celebrate women and honour them with love and respect. Technically, almost all women are working women; the mothers, home makers and the sisters, etc. The conventional assumption of working women being only those who work in workplaces other than home is now an outdated belief.

Women from the NorthEastern part of India enjoyed special privilege, which many societies can learn and replicate. If gender equality in Manipur is highlighted by women empowerment in the form of the flourishing existence of powerful women organisation in the valley, it is the prevalence of unmatched affection and respect towards women among the Hill tribes of various states that makes Women not just equal to men but even more special. The unique tradition of, not men but women inheriting family-properties in the state of Meghalaya is a classic example of a tribal society with empowered women, which has been a subject of profound interests to many near and far.

India has come a long way from the days of 'Sati' and 'dowry'. Our freedom struggle was not without women altogether; Rani of Jhansi's heroics are widely celebrated till today. Women are now treated equivalent to men in all fields including the Army; thanks to the recent Supreme court ruling which upheld women's participation in combat roles. Reservation for women in Panchayati Raj existed decades ago. In fact, there is a state in the country which reserved seats for Women in the state legislature the highest policy making body in the state. Several schemes like Sukanya Samridhi are implemented to benefit girl childs of the country to fill the glaring gender gap. Stringent laws have been formulated to fight sexual and domestic violence against Women.

We have reasons to believe that we've done almost everything for gender equality and women empowerment. But are those enough? Do women today really feel safe, let alone empowered? Domestic violence against women does not cease; rapes and sexual assaults continue to happen. Dowry cases are not completely history. We are well aware how the parents of Nirbhaya, the innocent women who made a mistake by believing the National Capital to be safe place for women, are waiting years for the long delayed justice to be delivered. How can we erase from our memories victims of crime against women who lost not just their lives but that of their parents too?

Many have endeavoured to find a strategy that will herald in all round improvement towards women empowerment. The importance of the idea of representation seems to supersede the other desideratum. Some people have thus mooted the idea of 50 % reservation for women in legislation ( Panchayati Raj, State Assembly and Parliament) and jobs (private and public) to ensure equality. While the idea brings equality in representation in its literal sense, the required efforts of respect and understanding which is non-quantifiable but quintessential for lasting empowerment will be missing. Without a sense of respect and acceptance-that women are no inferior species but our equals, reservation of 50% of everything, which will likely benefits 50% women will still leave half of the women from the scheme of things and therefore render them disempowered.

While talks on Women and their issues have long been a topic, many women have spent their time on, we - the men, have tremendous roles to ensure its success. Gender equality and Women empowerment are not just about providing a workplace for women outside the kitchen, but by acknowledging the fact that kitchen is not inferior to any corporate office in the world. It is not only about giving them voice in legislative bodies but allowing them to have a say in the home too. Women safety is not just about making several laws but by imparting lessons to our sons and fellow men about respect for women. Last but not the least, Women's day should not be a day for only the women to celebrate; rather it has to be a day for men of all ages to acknowledge and respect women for being our wonderful, powerful and beautiful equals.

T S Haokip Women; our beautiful equals

CELEBRATE ‘HER’

Wonderfully and fearfully created woman, she is…. From her I am born; from her he is born. I am a woman; I am she. In her lies the generation’s roots. They say a woman must be submissive. Yes! She understand and does it. Yet, her meekness underestimated purposely. Her voice silenced and freedom snatched! She bears and tolerate the highs and the lows she has been offered. She has her limit! She had it enough in the name of love, respect and honour for the sake of another human. Now it’s time she speaks……… No longer she’ll bow down rather she’ll bow out and voice out for she deserve her rights to be exercised. She’ll chose her self-respect over false honour of superiority. Remember she’s a woman later; A human first. Treat her with love, respect and honour not because she is a mother, wife or a daughter but because she is a human, first of everything she is…! Remember men, there’s nothing more in you. ‘He and She are at bar.’ Remember there is nothing less in a woman. Her never ending sacrifices is her divine beauty. Her femininity and fragility is her strength. Therefore, celebrate; celebrate her for being a women. She deserve your good thoughts, She deserve your valuable attention. But do it with heart and not with obligation. Celebrate women and make it counted not bounded. M. Lithei Nyam Phom

Reader’s note: Articles or letters published in any of the columns do not reflect the view of this newspaper nor that of the Editor in any manner. Reader’s Post De-coding an ‘Internal matter’! (From previous issue)

India, the largest democracy in the world believes in the rule of law that requires protection of all citizens guaranteed by the Constitution and UNHCHR. CAA has created unease amongst people who have been continuously defying the GOI as they view it as antithetical to democracy and their fundamental and constitutional rights. GOI should respond in such ways that CAA is “inclusionary” and proves its argument. We are part of the global comity of nations and shall never deflect from our obligations. It is unfortunate that institutions of governance and its mechanisms by and large have failed to deliver justice and fairness. Over and above, narratives such as “Let Normalcy Dawn” are such an ambiguous and ambivalent inflicts more damage to the current impasse in which we live. We keep hearing a world “normalcy” which should be restored. What is it and how to gauge “normalcy”? What is the “period” or “duration” those who say can give to concretize? These are the questions that loom at large. India is known for its credentials of being governed by the Constitution vis-à-vis constitutional democracy. Institutions of governance that dispenses rule of law by employing instruments and mechanisms on ground levels such as the bureaucracy, police, judiciary and political machinery posits laxity, prejudice, partisanship and biases. CAA has exposed and thus opened the Pandora box and so it is obligatory for the GOI to respond to the queries that are posed. Usage of the words and saying the current fiasco as “Internal Matter” could only be considered as an escape route which is bizarre because it is not just UNHCR, but others such as EU, US Congress, UK House of Commons, Iran, Malaysia and host of others. In recent times, India is reeling and sliding back in its image within and outside primarily in terms of its governance. To regain its credibility, transparency and accountability GOI by all means respond to the queries and should not push them under the guise of “Internal Matter”.

(Concluded) Dr. John Mohan Razu A s I watched the T.V. series Band Baaga Bride, I loved the lines spoken by Sabayasachi Mukherjee, the fashion designer who uttered a very catchy phrase to one of the brides in the show, which was “to inspire you to become better versions of yourselves”. As I reflected on the above phrase and on its implication, I found it apt to pen down a few lines to all the lovely ladies out there and also to my sisters and myself and to wish my fellow ladies a very Happy Women’s Day and at the same time to urge each one of us to become better versions of ourselves.

Each individual don many roles in a lifetime and as a woman we too assume myriad roles of a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an employee, an employer and the list continues. We are so caught up in the roles that we play, that we forget that there exists another world- our world too. We forget to be ourselves, we forget who we are, our dreams, our wishes and aspirations as we strive to be a perfect wife, mom, sister, employee, employer, an in-law etc attempting to fulfill the responsibilities that each role entail, but in this mad scramble, our bucket list seems to be lost and forgotten and it continues to simply remain a wish. As we celebrate Women’s Day, I would like to take this opportunity to ask YOU to celebrate yourself and to also embark on this journey of finding a better version of yourself. I urge everyone including myself to do something that defines you, celebrates you, makes you alive, in short attempt to find the real you. For, I believe that it is in knowing ourselves that we can truly give.

Being a better version of ourselves does not mean spending loads of money on ourselves, to try to attain or fit some other person’s definition or standard. It simply means finding the little things that makes you who you are. It means searching deep within your soul, to find that one thing that makes you smile, that one thing that gives you the drive to be who you are. There are no ends to comparisons and ideal types, which are forever being forged. However, let us try to be in competition with our own self and attempt to bring out a better version of ourselves, for in doing so, the possibilities become limitless.

This Women’s Day is your Independence Day- not trying is a crime!!! There will always be fears, self doubts or anxieties but let that not stop you from finding yourself or more essentially “a better you”. Ladies and girls, we are a treasure in ourselveswe are strong, beautiful and extremely special individuals; we have incredible strength to do the impossible. We need to believe in ourselves and realize that none of us are weak because we have been placed by God at this time wherever you are for a reason. The life that you have, has been predesigned and pre- destined for you and you are not a misfit nor in the wrong shoes. You were always in the right shoes but loving yourselves less.

Life teaches us many lessons- cruel and beautiful at the same time. It teaches us to value this life which we have been blessed with, though many of us forget to. As sojourners, we are all travelers in different routes and in different stories being shaped and moulded by the sum total of our experiences and surroundings. However, as the experiences and the environment shape and mould us, we are limited to achieve our true potential not because of others but because of ourselves- by becoming our own enemy.

As we celebrate Women’s Day, let us rediscover our true self and make a pledge to be a Stronger you, a more Beautiful you, a more fulfilled you, in short CELEBRATE YOURSELF. Your happiness matters!! Find yourself and when you do find yourself, I would like you to remember these words: “There are two things that define a person. Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything.” YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL LADIES, CELEBRATE LIFE, AND CELEBRATE YOURSELF. M. Veronica Chishi Sanglir Celebrate being a woman Sir,

On this International Women’s Day, let those who have been abused, trampled on and treated like domestic chattel rise up without fear for their God given rights. Celebrate the joy and angst of being a woman, for there is no greater blessings than being born a girl child. Treat your daughter, wife, mother, sister with the respect they deserve as time has come when women are dominating the social strata. Pray for them and ask forgiveness for hurting them for karma can be really instant for those who have abused their womenfolk in any manner.

NEW DELHI, MAR 7 (PTI): No country in the world says everybody is welcome, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday, hitting out at those criticising India over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Jaishankar flayed the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for its criticism on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying its director had been wrong earlier too and one should look at the UN body’s past record on handling the Kashmir issue.

“We have tried to reduce the number of stateless people through this legislation. That should be appreciated,” he said when asked about the CAA at the ET Global Business Summit. “We have done it in a way that we do not create a bigger problem for ourselves.” “Everybody when they look at citizenship has a context and has a criterion. Show me a country in the world which says everybody in the world is welcome. Nobody does that. Look at America. Look at the Europeans. I can give you example of every European country. There is some social criterion,” he noted.

The external affairs minister said moving out of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was in the interest of India’s business.

A s k e d a b o u t t h e UNHRC director not agreeing with India on the Kashmir issue, Jaishankar said, “UNHRC director has been wrong before. How carefully they (UNHRC) skirt around the cross-border terrorism problem, as if it has nothing to do with country next door. Please understand where they are coming from; look at UNHRC’s record how they handled the issue earlier.” Asked if India was losing its friends, Jaishankar said, “Maybe we are getting to know who our friends really are.”

He said it is a kind of geo-political assessment as there was a time when India was very defensive, its capabilities were less, threats were more and risks were higher.

“We adopted a policy of managing the world but kind of staying away. We can’t do that any more. We are the 5th largest economy of the world and will be the third largest. We have to engage everybody and find solutions,” he said.

“In a sense you would have geopolitical constituency out there in the world. There will be people who understand the changes of India, who agree with it, there are people who may not agree with it. I would not mix the two. I would not mix apples and oranges. I think these are two different processes at work. But, I will come out ahead at the end of it,” the minister said. S Jaishankar (File)

On opposition to the CAA and whether India has not been able to convince the world enough, he said, “There are sections of the world outside of the media.” He noted that he has engaged with governments and cited the example when in Brussels, he had 27 foreign ministers in a room to whom he was talking.

“The point we make on CAA is that it cannot be anybody’s case that a Govt or Parliament doesn’t have the right to set the terms of naturalisation or citizenship. Every government does that, every parliament does that.

“What we have tried to do is we have a large number of stateless people. We have tried to reduce the large number of stateless people we have in this country through this legislation. That should be appreciated. We have done it in a way that we do not create a bigger problem for ourselves. Everybody when they look at citizenship have a context and has a criterion,” he said.

“We can’t let governance challengers go unaddressed. It’s not the mindset of this government to just let important issues pass without decisively addressing them, which should have been addressed earlier. When you address that you disturb the status quo.

“People have proclaimed themselves of political correctness and arbiters of public policy, obviously be get ruffled. Obviously there will be public debates and those debates are legitimate and are happening in India as well as outside,” the minister noted.

The External Affairs Minister said technology has always been the driver of global politics and never more so than now.

“Its promise, especially for a society for India with a natural interest in leapfrogging, is enormous. We are seeing that unfold most of all in the digital domain.

“As we all know, this has created its own issues of data protection and data security. But from the vantage point of foreign policy, there are some aspects that need greater deliberation as a national approach,” he said.

“In a world that is more narrowly economic, trade negotiations have acquired a higher profile in international affairs. Much of that arises from the behaviour of America, the strategy of China, the approach of Japan and the focus of Europe. As a nation that is still to integrate itself into global supply chains, develop its infrastructure and scale up its capabilities, these are not easy times.

Jaishankar said obviously in a globalised world, no economy can be an island unto itself. “But the exercise of engagement – and its terms – must be very objectively assessed. Trade outcomes must be primarily justified by trade calculations, not by political correctness. Their gains must be visible, probable and practical; not just hypothetical scenarios,” he said.

Missing MLA returns; claims he will be made min before Holi BHOPAL, MAR 7 (AGENCIES): In yet another twist in the ongoing political drama in Madhya Pradesh, ‘missing’ independent MLA Surendra Singh Shera returned to Bhopal on Saturday, making a cryptic announcement that he would be a minister in the Kamal Nath cabinet before Holi on March 10.

Shera returned to the state after having spent four days in Bengaluru, which he claimed was a personal visit.

Three other MLAs -- Hardeep Singh Dang, Raghuraj Kansana and Bisahulal Singh -- have been missing from the state, with the ruling Congress alleging that the BJP “abducted” them and took them to Karnataka. The latter has refuted the claim.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Shera denied that he had been abducted and refuted reports of an alleged turmoil in the Kamal Nath government.

He arrived at the Raja Bhoj Airport from New Delhi and was received by the state’s Public Relations minister PC Sharma.

Though he refuted claims of being abducted, Shera had, in a video message on Friday, alleged that he was stopped by unidentified men twice on his way to the airport which eventually led him to miss his flight scheduled for the day. NEW DELHI, MAR 7 (PTI): The government on Saturday revoked a 48-hour ban on two leading Malayalam news channels hours after imposing the punitive measure on separate charges of being critical of the RSS, Delhi Police and siding with one community while covering last month’s violence in the national capital.

It was not immediately clear whether widespread criticism of the ban on Asianet News and Media One channels prompted the government to withdraw the restrictions.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters in Pune that Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the entire issue, adding the government supports press freedom.

Without going into specifics, Javadekar said he would look into the matter and take “essential steps” if any wrongdoing is found.

“I will definitely go into the details and take essential steps if there is any wrongdoing. But let me also tell you that everybody should accept that there has to be responsible freedom,” he said.

The channels were suspended for 48 hours beginning 7:30 PM on Friday over their coverage of the communal violence in Delhi. The official orders said that the channels covered events of February 25 in a manner that “highlighted the attack on places of worship and siding towards a particular community”.

The ban on Asianet News was lifted at 1.30 am, while the ban on Media One was lifted at 9.30 am on Saturday, a source in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting told PTI.

In its order against Media On, the ministry said the channel questioned the RSS and accused Delhi Police of inaction. The Congress and Left parties came down hard on the government for the punitive action, calling the clampdown “stifling of media freedom”. Govt lifts 48-hr ban on 2 news channels

New Delhi, Mar 7 (PTI): The State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday announced it will pick up a 49 per cent stake in Yes Bank for Rs 2,450 crore and clarified that all the deposits and liabilities of the reconstructed bank will continue in the “same manner”. The crisis-hit Yes Bank, which failed to garner investor support in raising capital, was on Thursday superseded by a Reserve Bank appointed administrator, in consultation with the central government, and customers have been restricted with a withdrawal cap of Rs 50,000 only till April 3.

“Yes Bank has 255- crore shares of Rs 2 per share. SBI will be issued 245 crore shares at a price of Rs 10 per share for Rs 2,450 crore. This will be 49 per cent of the share capital of the reconstructed bank,” the State Bank said in a statement.

“SBI shall not reduce its holding below 26 per cent before completion of three years from the date of infusion of the capital,” it added.

The SBI also said that a board of directors will be constituted at the reconstructed Yes Bank comprising chief executive and managing director, nonexecutive chairman and non-executive directors.

“SBI shall have nominee directors appointed on the board of the reconstructed bank. RBI may appoint additional directors to the board. The members of the board so appointed shall continue in office for a period of one year, or until an alternate board is constituted by Yes Bank Ltd,” the statement said.

The RBI has appointed Prashant Kumar, former deputy managing director and chief financial officer of SBl, as an administrator of Yes bank.

Earlier, the Reserve Bank had released the draft of Scheme of Reconstruction of Yes Bank and invited suggestions and comments up to Monday, March 9, 2020.

It said that all the employees of the reconstructed Yes Bank shall continue in their service with the same remuneration and on the same terms and conditions of service, at least for a period of one year.

“The board of directors of the reconstructed bank will, however, have the freedom to discontinue the services of the key managerial personnel (KMPs) at any point of time after following the due procedure,” the SBI statement noted.

All the deposits with and liabilities of the reconstructed bank will continue in the same manner, the country’s largest lender said, adding, the instruments qualifying as additional tier-1 capital shall stand “written down permanently, in full”.

Also, the offices and branches will continue to function in the same manner and the bank reconstructed bank would be allowed to open new offices and branches or close down existing offices or branches, the SBI said.

IndiGo waivesoff change fees on all bookings Mumbai, Mar 7 (PTI): Budget carrier IndiGo on Saturday announced waiving of cancellation and rescheduling charges on flight bookings till March 31 due to the situation arising out of the coronavirus outbreak. The cancellation fee has been waived off on existing and new domestic and international bookings made between March 12 and March 31, IndiGo said in a statement.

Also, there will be no fee charged for date change for flights booked between March 12 to March 31, it said. The waiver, however, comes with a rider. “We understand that some passengers are concerned about committing to travel, given the current coronavirus issue. This will enable IndiGo fliers to book their flights at “affordable” fares with flexibility of rescheduling without change fee, if needed, he said. Loving wife & dear ones 1 ST DEATH ANNIVERSARY Of Lt. Zhovi-u Khezhie K-703 BEIJING, MAR 7 (IANS): The deadly novel coronavirus has now infected more than 100,000 people around the world, but in mainland China, the country of the virus’s origin, the number of new cases fell on Saturday to just 99, the first time since January 18 that fewer than 100 cases were recorded.

C h i n a ’s N a t i o n a l Health Commission said 74 of the new infections were reported in Hubei’s provincial capital Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak, reports the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper. This is the second day there were no further cases elsewhere in Hubei province where the outbreak began. There were 28 new deaths - all in Hubei, with 21 in Wuhan - bringing the total number of fatalities on the mainland to 3,070, with a total of 80,651 infections. On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged countriesto make the fight against the coronavirus outbreak their SEOUL, MAR 7 (IANS): In a first, North Korean defectors launched a political party in South Korea, vowing to work toward “liberating” people in their homeland from autocratic rule and promoting the rights of defectors, it was reported.

“Although we are few in number I feel that we have great potential... Just two months ago I, myself, was sceptical as to whether or not we would be able to launch the party but a miracle happened today thanks to everyone here,” Yonhap News Agency quoted Thae Yongho, a former No. 2 diplomat at North Korea’s Embassy in London, as saying on Friday at the ceremony to launch the Inter-Korean Unification Party. The launch came after about 200 defectors formed a preparatory committee last month. Thae, who defected to South Korea in 2016, joined the main opposition United Future Party last month and announced his bid to run in the April 15 parliamentary elections, vowing to work for inter-Korean unification if elected. “The number of defectors in South Korea is only few but the fact that a defector is running for parliament means that we have been accepted by society,” he said. KABUL, MAR 7 (IANS): Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday again refused to accept the release of thousands of Taliban prisoners as a precondition for talks with the militant group, in a move that was likely to delay intra-Afghan peace negotiations set for March 10

Addressing the country’s Parliament, Ghani said the prisoner release arrangement in the deal between the US and the Taliban was untimely and cannot be a condition for beginning intra-Afghan negotiations, reports Efe news. “We call the Taliban’s request for the release of 5,000 prisoners as premature to the beginning of the negotiations,” Ghani said in the televised address.

“As President of Afghanistan, I don’t like to have a Taliban prisoner. But their release should be based on a transparent process and a clear mechanism.”

He said there was a need for a guarantee and the Afghans must be ensured that the Taliban, after the release of their leaders, would implement “a full ceasefire” and that they won’t return to the battlefield.

“A nationwide ceasefire is the demand of every citizen,” he said.

The President had publicly turned down the plan of prisoner swap set out in the landmark USTaliban deal signed on February 29 in Doha, aimed at beginning intra-Afghan talks and ending decades of the Afghan war.

But, he said, the government’s delegation would defend the “democratic values” of the country in talks with the hardline Islamist militant group.

The Taliban have said they would not talk with the government unless its prisoners are set free as was agreed in the deal with Washington.

“If the prisoners are released, the Islamic Emirate is then ready for the intra-Afghan negotiations on Mar. 10,” Taliban spokesperson in Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, tweeted on Friday.

He said the government would be responsible for any delay in talks.

Ghani’s insistence on not releasing jailed Taliban leaders comes days after the US said it was committed to facilitating prisoner swap under the peace agreement with the insurgents. COVID-19 cases: world total over 100,000 “highest priority”.

“As cases increase, we are continuing to recommend that all countries make containment their highest priority,” Efe news quoted WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as saying at a daily briefing. Mike Ryan, Executive director of WHO’s health emergencies programme, called for caution against the assumption, which has been proposed by some scientists, that COVID-19 would subside in the summer like a seasonal flu. “We have to assume the virus will continue to have the capacity to spread,” the SCMP quoted Ryan as saying in Geneva on Friday. “It’s a false hope to say, yes, that it will disappear like the flu... We can’t make that assumption. And there is no evidence.” As of Saturday, the total number of coronavirus cases around the world was 101,492, with 3,485 deaths.

According to figures released by the SCMP on Saturday, the countries which have registered coronavirus cases besides China are South Korea (6,767), Iran (4,747), Italy (4,636), Japan (1,103, including 696 on Diamond Princess), Germany (639), France (423), Spain (374), the US (329), Switzerland (181), the UK (163), Singapore (130), Belgium (109), Hong Kong (107), Sweden (101), Norway (86), Malaysia (83), Netherlands (82), Australia (63), Kuwait (58), Bahrain (56), Austria (55), Canada (51), Thailand (47), Taiwan (45), the UAE (45), Greece (32), India (31), Iraq (26), Iceland (26), San Marino (23), Denmark (18), Algeria (17), Vietnam (16), Oman (16), Lebanon (16), Israel (15), Egypt (15), Ireland (13), Ecuador (13), Finland (12), Czech Republic (12), Macau (10), Croatia (10), Portugal (nine), Georgia (nine), Brazil (eight), Qatar (eight), Palestine (seven), Romania (six), Slovenia (six), Belarus (six), Pakistan (six), Chile (five), Philippines (five), Mexico (five), New Zealand (five), Russia (four), Indonesia (four), Senegal (four), Azerbaijan (three), Hungary (three), Estonia (three), Dominican Republic (two), Bosnia and Herzegovina (two), and one each in Colombia, Nigeria, Poland, Nepal, Morocco, Monaco, Luxembourg, Cameroon, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Serbia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar, Latvia, Andorra, North Macedonia, Bhutan, Jordan, Togo, Tunisia, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Armenia, Argentina, Vatican City and South Africa. The global film industry could suffer an estimated loss of £3.8 billion ($5 billion) as a result of this year’s coronavirus outbreak.

The industry is already beginning to feel the adverse effects of the growing health crisis, with one major example being the postponement earlier this week of the release of the forthcoming James Bond film No Time To Die due to fears over the spread of the deadly virus.

Over 70,000 cinemas in China have already been shut for weeks in a bid to stem the coronavirus outbreak in the country, while box office returns in South Korea, Italy and Japan — some of the worst-hit countries after China — have also suffered as a result of the outbreak.

The Hollywood Reporter cites estimates by film analysts which suggest that the coronavirus crisis could result in a loss of at least $5 billion for the movie industry “from diminished box office revenue and impacted production”.

“Motion pictures and most content does well in good economic times, better in bad economic times. However, force majeure trumps the aforementioned,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter this week.

“If people start avoiding mass gatherings, moviegoing will be impacted, as well as production. The impact will be significantly noticeable internationally and increase. The U.S. situation could change quickly.”

However, in a statement issued today (March 6), UK cinema chain Cineworld said that it not had its profits or attendances adversely affected by the coronavirus crisis.

“Although the release of the new Bond movie has been postponed to November 2020… studios have advised us that in the countries in which we operate, they currently remain committed to their release schedule for the coming months and remainder of the year,” a spokesperson added to Reuters.

Earlier this week, organisers of the Cannes Film Festival issued an update about the status of its 2020 event after the affiliated industry networking event MIPTV was cancelled on Wednesday (March 4) due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Singer Justin Bieber is quite a prankster. He recently went undercover as a tour guide on the set of the popular sitcom “Friends” in California.

Some of the fans of “Friends” didn’t suspect him as he wore a pair of glasses and comical facial hair. At one point, he called himself a “Joey guy” and reenacted one of the Matt Le Blanc character’s catchphrases, “How you doin’?”

“I gotta be honest, I’m Justin Bieber and I’m just messing with you guys. This is all a set up,” he says to one couple before posing for a selfie with the shocked fans, reports people.com.

Bieber even sang the iconic song “Smelly cat” that Lisa Kudrow‘s Phoebe once belted on the sitcom, which ended 2004.

The prank played by the 26-year-old was aired on Friday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

He got to demonstrate more of his prank skills earlier this week on the TV show.

During an episode, Bieber had jumped from within a box positioned near football legend David Beckham to scare him.

MYK C Dark Mode on WhatsApp arrives in India T he much-awaited ‘Dark Mode’ feature on Facebook-owned WhatsApp arrived for its over 400 million users in India on Saturday.

The feature is aimed to reduce eye strain in low-light environments and prevent those awkward moments that happen when your phone lights up the room. The company announced this week that the feature is being rolled out with the latest version of WhatsApp globally.

The users in India noticed a special dark gray background and off-white colour that lowers the brightness of the screen, cuts down the glare and improves contrast and readability.

“When designing dark mode, we spent time researching and experimenting with a focus on two particular areas: Readability and information hierarchy”, said WhatsApp.

L o n d o n, M a r 7 (Agencies): Liverpool came from behind to beat Bournemouth as a 2-1 victory at Anfield moved them to within three wins of the Premier League title.

Liverpool’s bid to arrest a run of three defeats in four matches got off to the worst possible start as Callum Wilson’s contentious ninth-minute opener - allowed to stand after VAR ruled the Bournemouth striker’s shove on Joe Gomez was legal - left Anfield stunned.

But Liverpool produced the response of would-be champions as Mohamed Salah, on his 100th Premier League appearance, and Sadio Mane punished costly Bournemouth defensive errors to turn the game around in the space of eight minutes before halftime.

A stunning goal-line clearance from captain James Milner and a late offside flag prevented Ryan Fraser and Wilson from rescuing a priceless point for the Cherries’ survival bid.

But Liverpool avoided paying the price for a lethargic second-half performance as they held on for a record-breaking 22nd consecutive top-flight home victory that moves them 25 points clear at the top of table and to within nine points of the title.

Liver pool started brightly in their bid to bounce back from defeats to Atletico Madrid, Watford and Chelsea but found themselves behind inside 10 minutes.

Wilson’s clear push on Gomez went unpunished by on-field referee Paul Tierney and, after Wilson applied the finishing touch to Jefferson Lerma’s cross at the end of a slick Bournemouth attack, VAR found no clear and obvious error, to Jurgen Klopp’s amazement.

Bournemouth smelt blood and pushed for a second, with Nathan Ake’s towering header tipped onto the Liverpool bar by stand-in goalkeeper Adrian, but an injury to Cherries captain Steve Cook swung the momentum in the hosts’ favour.

Cook’s replacement, Jack Simpson, was caught on the ball by Mane - a costly error which was punished by Salah - who gathered a poor square pass before beating Aaron Ramsdale at his near post. Liverpool found their groove and one quickly became two as Virgil van Dijk’s long pass released Mane through on goal, and the Senegal international slotted his 18th goal of the season. They could have had a third before the break when Milner volleyed straight at Ramsdale.

Milner, captain in Jordan Henderson’s continued absence, prevented Fraser from drawing Bournemouth level with a lob over Adrian at the start of a second period in which Liverpool failed to get going.

Mane rattled the angle of post and bar with a stunning curled shot and Roberto Firmino spurned a glorious late chance to end his Anfield goal drought, but those proved immaterial as the Reds marched on towards their first top-flight crown in three decades.

Liverpool host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday before travelling to Goodison Park for the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday. Bournemouth host Crystal Palace. Liverpool players celebrate after scoring a goal during their EPL match against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.

Pan aji, Mar 7 (Agen cies): Chennaiyin entered the final of the 2019-20 Indian Super League (ISL) with a 6-5 aggregate win against FC Goa in the two-legged semi-final tie. FC Goa registered a 4-2 win in the second leg at the Fatorda Stadium on Saturday but Chennaiyin stood firm to secure their place in the final.

A Lucian Goain own goal in the 10th minute and Mourtada Fall making it 2-0 in the 28th minute kept Goa’s hopes alive for a come-back from the 4-1 first-leg defeat but of which were dainted by LallianzualaChhangte (52’) and NerijusValskis (59’) in the second half. The tie was kept interesting with EduBedia (81’) and Fall (83’) finding the target, though of which was not going to be enough to see the Goans through to the final.

The Goans finished the match short of two goals and a man in Saviour Gama (90+1’) who got his marching orders.

Hugo Boumous and Brandon Fernandes were back in the Goa lineup in place of Manvir Singh and SeminlenDoungel. Owen Coyle named an unchanged Chennaiyin XI.

The hosts, needing a big win, were offensive in their approach from the word go and the surge bore fruits soon.

Goain, who scored the opener in Chennai, was the first to score in Goa too. However, the Chennaiyin defender headed the ball into his own net off a dangerous cross from the right by Jackichand in the 10th minute.

AnirudhThapa’s foul on Lenny Rodrigues was all that Goa wanted to put the second one in. Brandon’s free-kick into the box was nodded in by Fall before the half-hour mark.

What immediately followed was a forced change as Bedia made his way in after Boumous had to be stretchered off. The firsthalf, in which the hosts were dominant, ended without further goals.

The task was once again made a gruesome for the home side after Chhangte got at the end of Mohammed Nawaz’s save off Crivellaro’s shot from the left to place the ball in an empty net in the 52nd minute. The stands were then silenced when Valskis was allowed a free header from a Crivellaro corner to make it 2-2 on the evening.

In an attempt to bag their third away goal, Thapa’s rasping left-footed volley was thwarted by Nawaz who was alert to palm out second half substitute Germanpreet Singh’s attempt at goal a bit later.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Manvir Singh in place of Rodrigues could have paid off if not for a goalline save by Jerry Lalrinzuala after Vishal Kaith had kept out FerranCorominas’ shot from Brandon’s corner in the 67th minute while the substitute’s header from another Brandon delivery came off the upright.

Coyle thought it was time to shut shop by replacing Crivellaro with MasihSaighani in the 81st minute but it was not going to be over yet. Fall chased a loose ball off Germanpreet to set up Bedia who chipped the ball past Kaithine 81st minute before Fall himself nodded in Goa’s fourth of the evening after Saighani failed to clear Brandon’s lob in the box.

Goa needed two more goals but then Saviour Gama, who had come off the bench, picked his second yellow card in a span of three minutes. Players of FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC vie for the ball during the second leg of ISL play-off at the Fatorda Stadium on Saturday.
