KO H I M A , M A R 2 1 (NPN): Nagaland governor, P.B. Addressing the first day of the 15th session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), the governor said the state government on the one hand made progress on several developmental fronts, but on the other hand it faced various problems in conducting elections to ULB in the state, which led to violence and ultimately ULB elections declared null and void on February 2, 2017. Acharya while mourning the death of two young men killed on January 31, 2017 in Dimapur also lamented that functioning of government offices was disrupted due to bandhs. The governor said that a judicial inquiry has been ordered to inquire into the matter.

Acharya addressing the 15th session of the 12th NLA.
On the construction of India-Myanmar international border fencing along Pangsha under Noklak subdivision by Myanmar government, the governor said through the collective efforts of the civil society organizations, the state government and the Centre, it has been possible to impress upon the Myanmar government to stop the border fencing work. He said that such move on the part of the Myanmar government had the potential to adversely affect the free movement regime. Acharya said the state government would continue to make efforts to ensure that
no similar fencing works were carried out in the international border areas of Nagaland. Reiterating the state government’s support to the ongoing political dialogue between the government of India and the NSCN (I-M), the governor said the government would continue to strive to work for a final solution in a peaceful, inclusive and honourable manner. Acharya informed the house that state government has recently constituted Political Affairs Mission (PAM), replacing the erstwhile political affairs committee, to spearhead the government’s efforts in this area. The governor also reiterated his appeal to NSCN (K) to resume ceasefire with the government of India in the larger interest of the Nagas. Meanwhile, the governor highlighted the achievements, policies, programmes and plans of the state government. On administration and justice, he said the village guards would be strengthened by creation of two posts of assistant commandant at Thonoknyu in Tu-
enang district and at Meluri in Phek district. With regard to agriculture and allied sector, the governor said the state was deficit in rice production by 24%, but maintained that the government’s priority was to increase production and productivity with suitable technologies in farming systems and achieve food security. In fisheries sector, the governor said the government envisages enhancing local production to about 8,500 metric tons during 2016-17. Acharya said under the National Afforestation Program, the department of environment, forests & climate change has brought an area of 2,130 hectares under afforestation in 2016-17. He said recently it was decided to create two forest divisions - one each for Kiphire and Longleng districts. On education, health, social and economic services, Acharya said the school education department was trying to address the quality issue by putting stress on training of teachers, their redeployment in a more rational manner and by doing school rationalization exercise. TR Zeliang owes apology to the people: NPCC DIMAPUR, MAR 21 (NPN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has asked deposed chief minister, T.R. Zeliang to apologize to the people of Nagaland for exhibiting “blatant abuse of power starting with beneficiaries of Chief Minister’s Road Development Fund (CMRDF) mostly being the kith and kin of himself, ministers and parliamentary secretaries.” NPCC media cell pointed out that the entire process of CMRDF allocation was a sham exercise in addition to T.R. Zeliang’s putting his signature as chief minister on March 8, 2017 even after Dr. Shürhozelie took over as the CM on February 22, 2017. It also said that the CMO media cell which had desperately issued clarification did not hold any substance. NPCC reminded that as per the notification issued by the State Planning
NEW DELHI, MAR 21 (NPN): Central government has approved Rs. 251.3 lakhs for creation of National Virtual Library of India (NVLI) in Dimapur and Kohima for the period 2016-17. The amount has been sanctioned for District Library, Dimapur and State Central Library, Kohima. This was stated in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, when Union minister of state for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Mahesh Sharma gave out the state-wise information of the libraries approved by the Centre at an estimated amount of Rs. 4094.69 lakhs. According to the ministry, the National Mission on Libraries was set up vide notification dated 4th May, 2012 in pursuance of National Knowledge Commission recommendations for sustained attention for development of Libraries and Information science Sector. Under this the components include-- Creation of Nagas’ future safe National Virtual Library of India (NVLI) to facilitate under ‘Framework a comprehensive database Agreement’: Kholi on digital resources on information about India and Staff Reporters on information generated in India, in an open access D IMAPUR, MAR 21 environment. (NPN): Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim celebrated 38th Republic Day on Tuesday at Council Headquarters, Hebron with its vice president ‘gen.’ (retd) Kholi as chief guest. Several hundreds of people from Nagaland and neighbouring states attended the celebration with much fervour. In the celebration both the leaders of NSCN/ GPRN, vice president, Gen (Retd) Kholi and ato kilonser and chief negotiator, Indo-Naga Peace Talks, Th. Muivah echoed that “We will make holy cities the present and future of tourist attractions for the Nagas was now safe spiritual development.” under Framework Agree-
& Coordination department, with the CM as the chairman of the Road Board, proposals exceeding Rs. 50 lakhs were not to be considered. However, for Peren district two proposals amounting to Rs. 140 lakhs for improvement of approach road to Saijang Rubber farm to Innovative Construction and another Rs. 300 lakhs for repair of hospital approach road at Jalukie town to M/s Hi-Tech Construction owned by T.R. Zeliang’s son were listed, NPCC said. Moreover, it said unequal distribution was evident with Peren district alone getting three projects amounting to Rs. 490 lakhs out of Rs. 1250 lakhs. “This goes to show TR Zeliang at his manipulative best to siphon off public funds and blatant nepotism even when deposed from the CMs chair as a result of public uprising,” said NPCC. Terming it as “most un-
fortunate” that the deposed chief minister, T.R. Zeliang could readily stoop down to occupy the unconstitutional post of Advisor (Finance) to keep enjoying the spoils of power, NPCC said on the other hand chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie seemed to be “content in abdicating his power and authority just to be in the CM’s chair.” Therefore, NPCC demanded that the entire process of CMRDF allocation be cancelled and start afresh by giving equal distribution to all districts as per the laid down rules in transparent manner. While demanding chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie to issue a public statement to make it clear whether he had endorsed the dual power centre, NPCC said “his deafening silence will not wish away the misuse of CMs office which is already sullying his image as regional patriarch in nearly five decades of active politics.”

Chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in his speech expressed hope that Dr. Imtiwapang Aier, a highly qualified, fast and keen learner would be able to conduct the business smoothly and maintain decorum in the house and also carry out duties and responsibilities within and outside the state. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier expressed gratitude to all the members for electing him to hold the dignified office and assured to give his best to “up-hold the cherished traditions and the non-partisan character of the office”. Describing the 12th NLA as a unique house with no opposition, he said such instance was rare in any democratic form of government. He therefore urged the legislators to avoid “political apathy and depression” and deliver services to the people.
Interacting with media persons after assuming the Speaker’s chair, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier said that there was no restriction on MLAs to raise questions in the assembly, instead they are free to raise question in the floor of the house during the question hours. He made this statement, when he was asked to comment on the alleged threat on BJP legislator Mmhonlumo Kikon for tabling questions about home department for the forthcoming NLA assembly session. He further said that the MLA has to produce proof in order to substantiate his claim. Dr. Imtiwapang stand was that the document which was circulated in social media does not bear the signature of Mmnholumo, therefore the person whoever drafted the question(s) might have leaked it to social media. Commissioner and secretary NLA N. Benjamin Newmai also said as per the procedure, the NLA has not refused or restricted “at any point of time” to any of the MLA’s to raise questions.

ment which was signed between Government of India and NSCN on 3rd August 2015. Kholi in his message reminded the Nagas that the world “we live in today is not the destination we have set for” saying they must keep moving looking for the future. He touched upon the changing realpolitik of the state from traditional to modern and drove home the point that “change of our village-state to a nationstate under republic system becomes imperative.”
Kholi’s message, read out by a secretary, asserted that ‘ours’ was a future oriented movement and the revolution continues since Nagas were not safe under the Indian constitution or in the Shillong Accord. Kholi also expressed concern over the mushrooming factions in Nagaland saying infighting among the Nagas magnify the problem. “NSCN is definitely for solution,” he asserted. He likened the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement between NSCN (I-M) and GoI as ‘the second bus
we can never afford to miss.’ According to him, the agreement embraces all Nagas and their territories and cautioned that rejecting the issue-based agreement would pull back the Nagas decades behind others. Kholi maintained the future of Nagas was now safe under the agreement. In conclusion, Kholi appealed for unity and reconciliation among the Nagas. In his over an hour speech, ato kilonser Th. Muivah said after years of negotiations, for the first time in the history, government of India recognised the unique history and sovereign rights of the Nagas during the time of NSCN. Basing on this, he said the Framework Agreement was signed by two sovereign nations, Nagaland and India. He then said the path for Nagas’ future has been set through the signing of the Framework Agreement. (Cont’d on p-8) K Y M C

GST likely to be implemented by July 1 in M’laya

Shillong, Mar 21: Meghalaya will be benefited through the Goods and Service Tax (GST), which is likely to be implemented on July 1, 2017, Taxation Minister, Zenith M. Sangma said on Tuesday. “Since it is a destination based consuming state, Meghalaya will be benefitted with the implementation of GST,” he said during the Question Hour in the assembly. Informing the House that GST will be implemented in the State, Sangma said the target date for the introduction of GST is likely to be implemented on July 1, 2017. He, however, said that the final decision will be taken by the GST Council. “The GST will be one of the most important indirect tax reforms in India which will replace the multitude of indirect taxes presently being levied by the Centre and the States like Excise Duty, Service Tax, Special Additional Duty of Customs, Value Added Tax, Central Sales Tax, Luxury Tax, etc,” Sangma said. Moreover, he said that the taxes will be subsumed under the GST. “The GST will remove the inherent weaknesses present in the current indirect taxation system and will remove the cascading effect on prices of goods and services due to the tax on tax,” he added.
but fiscal deficit is estimated at Rs.624.39 crore. In the revised estimates, 2016-17, the total expenditure has been revised to Rs.13371.64 crore as against the budget estimate of Rs.10518.04 crore, he added. Later, Singh moved the demands in the house for passing. “We propose to present a full budget later. The full budget will reflect our key priorities on financial and development planning, for the ensuing fiscal year,” he said while moving the house for passing the vote on account. He further assured that the new government will make an honest attempt to implement its vision and promises made by it during the next five years. “One of the key priorities of our government would be to exercise fiscal prudence and maintain financial discipline. We are conscious that this is going to be a very uphill and challenging task,” he added.
New Delhi, Mar 21 (PTI): A Parliamentary panel has recommended execution of development projects in the North-East with an average size of around Rs 30 crore to Rs 40 crore within a tight time-frame of three years. The Parliamentar y Standing Committee on Home Affairs, in its report on demands for grants for Ministry of DoNER, said the ministry must focus on bigger projects where the average envelope size must be Rs 30 crore to Rs 40 crore because fewer projects of reasonable size could be monitored better and completed quickly in one or two years without time and cost overruns. “The Committee is anguished to observe that one cannot have a project of Rs 8 crore to Rs 10 crore lingering on for three to five years on the plea of inspection. Such projects are in practical terms not projects at all,” it said. The Panel said the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region must have a schedule of time
for the release of the first instalment followed by the achievement of the physical target of work within a specified time-frame for the release of second instalment. “The Committee, therefore, strongly recommends that the projects should be smaller in number, bigger in envelope size and there should be tighter time-frame for implementation and the guillotine must be applied at the end of three years,” it said. The panel said it understood that long-term measures like operationalisation of non-operational airports, construction of more green-field airports, enhancement of overall capacities of terminals and aprons and hangars require time for fructification, especially in view of infrastructural bottlenecks peculiar to the North-Eastern region. “The Committee, however, desires that all the long term strategies should be given momentum and there should be scope for time and cost overruns,” it said.

The new coalition government did not propose any changes in rates of taxes and duties of state’s own tax and non-tax revenue as of now despite estimation of a fiscal deficit of Rs.624.39 crore. Modi pulls up BJP MPs for absence in Parliament
NEW DELHI, MAR 21 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today pulled up BJP MPs for skipping Parliament proceedings following incidents of lack of quorum and even warned that he will keep a tab on them by calling any member any time during the session. Modi’s tough talk to his party MPs at the weekly BJP Parliamentary Party meeting came following frequent delay in start of work in the two Houses due to lack of quorum the minimum number of members needed for valid proceedings. He told them that attending Parliament is their basic responsibility and added wryly that he can do a lot of things but cannot be present there on their behalf. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar spoke about incidents of lack of quorum in both the Houses, including yesterday, prompting Modi to say that it should not be about “requesting the MPs to be present” as it is their basic responsibility. BJP members said that the PM told them that it did not matter to him if they were in the Central Hall, a place to host joint sittings of Parliament where MPs often meet for informal conversation, as what is important is that they should be inside the Houses. “I can call any of you
Narendra Modi any time,” the PM was quoted as saying by a member. He added that Modi was visibly unhappy over absenteeism. Modi had in the past also asked members to ensure their presence in the two Houses but this time he spoke out without mincing words. He recalled the remarks of an RSS functionary who had lamented that though the Hindutva organisation had spread far and wide, its members seem to be too busy to attend ‘shakhas’ (meetings). Likewise, the MPs too seemed to have so much of work that they do not have time to attend Parliament, which should not be the case, he said. As representatives of lakhs of people of their constituency, it is their job to attend the House proceedings, he said. In his briefing, Kumar said Modi also laid out the “road map” for the party as it gears up to celebrate its foundation day on April 6 and Dalit icon Bhim
Expel all corrupt leaders or resign, BJP tells Mamata
Rao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14. Modi told the BJP Parliamentary Party that the party’s primary members, numbering over 11 crore, according to its figures, should be asked to join panchayat and municipallevel meetings during over a week-long exercise to mark the two events. All MPs, ministers and party functionaries will participate in these meetings, Kumar told reporters. Party functionaries will highlight the government’s achievements, the BJP’s upward journey and will be shown a video about this. The BJP will be organising a host of events between April 6 and April 14 in which it will seek to highlight how the Modi government has worked to realise Ambedkar’s idea of a ‘samta-yukt samaj’ (equal society) with its schemes like Jan Dhan and Mudra among others, Kumar said. Modi asked them to give at least one hour daily for cleanliness drive during the week. Party members in the evening will take out a procession carrying Ambedkar’s photographs. The Prime Minister also asked them to reach out to small traders and workers, like washermen, to popularise ‘Bhim’ app, a digital payment medium, saying it can help in making them financially more capable.
Ayodhya row: SC suggests out-of-court settlement NEW DELHI, MAR 21 (PTI): Suggesting an outof-court rapprochement among rival parties in the 68-year-old Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute, Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar advised peace negotiations instead of a pitched court battle, even offering help to settle the fight amicably. The dispute, which has seen much tension and violence over the past decades, debuted in court in 1950 when Gopal Simla Visharad filed the first suit in Faizabad civil court for rights to perform pooja to Ram Lalla. The same year saw Paramahansa Ramachandra Das also file a suit for continuation of pooja and keeping idols in the structure. Nine years later, in 1959, Nirmohi Akhara floowed with a third suit for directions to hand over the charge of the disputed site. U.P. Sunni Central Wakf Board filed the fourth suit in 1961 for declaration and possession. The fifth was in 1989 in the name of Ram Lalla Virajman for declaration and possession. On September 2010, a three-judge Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court held that Hindus have the right to the makeshift temple under the central dome of the Babri Masjid. The High Court ruled in favour of a three-part division of the disputed 2.77-acre area among Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and the Ram Lalla at the disputed site. The Bench had relied

Yogi Adityanath takes a dig at Rahul-Akhilesh partnership
NEW DELHI, MAR 21 (AGENCIES): Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, whose alliance the BJP defeated by a handsome margin in the state assembly election. “I’m one year younger than Rahul ji and an year older than Akhilesh ji. The fact that I could come in between their partnership may be the reason for your (SP-Congress alliance) failure,” Adityanath jibed. But the state government utilized only Rs 78,000 crore. This was because they did not have a proper model for the state’s development,” he charged. In his final address to the Lok Sabha, the newlycoronated UP chief minister hailed Narendra Modi’s policy of inclusive growth

Modi is being hailed as a global icon,” Adityanath said. Citing the rise in the country’s growth rate, Adityanath also acknowledged finance minister Arun Jaitley’s efforts in this regard. “I thank the finance minister for breathing new life into our country’s economy,” the UP chief minister said.

on Hindu faith, belief and folklore. The Sunni Waqf Board and other parties filed their appeals in the Supreme Court against the 2010 judgment. The appeals is pending in the Supreme Court for the past six years. The pendency of the appeal was brought to the attention of the bench led by Justice Khehar by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday. Swamy, in an urgent mentioning, sought the court to post the appeals for early hearing. Instead, the bench, also comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, reacted with a different point of view. Justice Khehar said parties should understand that these are sensitive issues involving religious sentiments. They should adopt a give and take approach to arrive at a consensus. “You (Swamy) must make fresh attempts to arrive at a consensual decision. If required, you must choose a mediator to end the dispute. If the parties want me (CJI) to sit with mediators chosen by both the sides for negotiations, I am ready,” Justice Khehar said. Swamy’s plea to “rebuild” the Ram temple at the RamjanmabhoomiBabri Masjid site has been tagged to the appeals. The court asked Swamy to consult the litigating parties about appointing a negotiator for an out-of-court settlement and report back on March 31, 2017.

KO L K ATA , M A R 2 1 (IANS): The West Bengal BJP on Tuesday demanded that TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expel what the former said were corrupt leaders from her party or resign herself if she failed to do so. “We urge her to remove all corrupt people from her Trinamool Congress. But we know she does not have the guts to do so, as she herself is involved in corruption. The Chief Minister should either expel all wrongdoers from her party or resign from her position,” state BJP President Dilip Ghosh told the media here. The BJP leader’s remarks came on a day the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the Calcutta High Court order that asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the Narada sting operation case. “The political scenario in West Bengal is changing fast. These verdicts (on the Narada sting case) in the High Court and the Supreme Court in quick succession will have a massive impact on state politics,” Ghosh said.

fter Dr.Shürhozelie Liezietsü took over as chief minister on February 22,2017 he inherited a state exchequer with a huge deficit of around Rs.1450 crore( though the exact figure is not known except to those in the finance department), unrest among public against various alleged corruption in the government that has been perpetrated for decades leasing to loss of complete confidence in the authority of the government and many, many more. Various tribe organisations raised many issues in the past but the DAN government during third innings in power, failed to resolve them to the satisfaction of the public. The Nagaland Tribes Council(NTC) has submitted a memorandum to chief minister Dr.Shürhozelie Liezietsü listing various issues such as ‘Rongmei recognition’ that pertained to the government notification issued on August 4,2012 for recognising Rongmeis as an indigenous tribe of Nagaland just on the eve of the February 2013 general election. NTC had objected to this notification on the ground that Rongmei is an indigenous tribe of Manipur; whereas the thousandodd Rongmei inhabitants settled in Nagaland, do not possess their own ancestral land in order to qualify being clubbed as indigenous tribe of Nagaland. The then DAN-II government had unnecessarily created a controversy instead of exploring other options; even though the decision might have been linked to political interests. The demand by both NTC and CNTC over this matter has not been resolved even though the Naga Hoho had belatedly withdrawn its recommendation for recognition of Rongmei as a indigenous tribe of the state; although the state government was yet to issue an order to this effect. The other issue is the Nagaland Special Development Zone(NSDZ)drawn in the room of planners who forgot to look where they were walking. The NSDZ was a replication of an economic zone that was to be located in the foothills. The government was to declare these areas as cadastral areas so as to provide land deeds (pattas) to anyone from outside Nagaland. The NSDZ was passed by the state assembly in March-end 2014 without attracting attention. This newspaper published concerns of the NSDZ impinging upon the guarantees as enshrined under Article 371A on April 1,2014. Then in June, the NTC took up the issue by demanding that the Act be revoked since it would lead to takeover of outsider on large portion of lands in a subtle way. The other issue taken up by NTC was demand for implementation of the Nagaland Land and Revenue (amendment) Act,1978 “in letter and in spirit” in order to safeguard the rights of the land owners with regard to ownership and also tax. Another very crucial demand of NTC was to evict unauthorised settlements within the once pristine Ntangki National Park, supposedly covering around 20,202 Hectares. The Park has been rampaged by encroachers of various shades and the delicate flora and fauna very badly damaged. The other issues include revocation of Disturbed Area Act in the state; bringing entire Nagaland under BEFR Act(inner line regulation); re-naming of Gaidinliu Memorial Hall in Kohima and to oppose any attempt by the BJP government to enact a Uniform Civil Code(UCC). Except for the UCC, DA Act and perhaps BEFR Act which need concurrence of the Centre, the state government can decide on the other issues. That places the ball in Dr.Shürhozelie’s court and that will prove to be the litmus test.

62nd Naga Republic Day speeches
Gen. (Retd) Viyalie Metha, Kedahge, Federal Government of Nagaland Fellow Countrymen, On this auspicious day of our 62th Republic Day, I give thanks to the almighty God for sustaining our nation till today. Coming to the message today, throughout the world, Republic days have meant different changes for different countries. For some countries like England, France, Italy and many Middle East countries etc, Republic Days have meant transition from ancient Monarchies to modern Republics. For other countries like Iraq or Uganda, it had meant transition from Dictatorial rule to democratic rule. As for our immediate neighbor India, Myanmar and Pakistan, it had meant transition from thousands of years under Kingly rule only to be ruled again under Colonial rule for over another two hundred years and finally to modern republics with the adoptions of new Constitutions. However, in passing, we cannot, but note that the Constitutions of these three neighbor countries have no connection with their ancient Monarchical past of Kingly rule. In a sense, these countries were uprooted from their ancient past and replanted into an alien structure of European and Western democracies. But in the case of Nagaland’s Republic Day, our story of transition from a past village democratic republic to a modern National Democratic Republic stands unique and unrivaled by any other nations in the entire history of the world. I make this humble assertion because most other countries in the world have developed from some tribal savage pasts or an oppressive Monarchical rule into modern republic states. But in the unique case of Nagaland, as stated earlier, we simply transited from ancient village democratic Republics into a modern national Democratic Republic. In this transition, unlike our neighbors India or Burma, we also simply adopted a homely and familiar Yehzabo (Constitution) which was rooted in our ancient democratic customs and laws. In the transition of modern republics from tribal and monarchical pasts to modern Republics, some few tribal Chiefs or Royal families have ruled entire nations. But in the case of Nagaland, in all her ancient history, no Tribal Lords or Kings had ever ruled over Naga society. In fact, throughout the entire length of her history, it was all the time a rule of the purest form of democracy where everyone was equal to everyone else. And it was from this foundation of “Pure Democracy” that the Naga Yehzabo was drafted and adopted on January 14,
1956. Subsequently on March 22, 1956, a Democratic Federal Republic called the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) was proclaimed at Parashen in the Rengma region of Nagaland. This same FGN entered into an international Ceasefire Agreement with India on September 6, 1964. At this juncture, I would also like all Nagas to take note of the stupendous strides and developments that were achieved in Naga history within a very short period under the able leadership of A.Z. Phizo and his colleagues. In the ancient past, Nagas had always existed as a separate stock of people with their own customs and culture. But with the passage of time and modern political developments, the Naga Club was started in 1921 as a social club and not a political institution. When a time came for the Nagas to assert their national rights, the Naga Club represented the Nagas and submitted the first Naga national memorandum to the British Simon Commission on January 10, 1929 at Kohima. Then on 2nd February 1946, the Naga National Council (NNC) was formed by the general mandate of the Naga people as the first Naga political institution. Immediately after its formation, the farsighted NNC leaders submitted 6 memorandums to the departing British Government and 10 memorandums to the incoming Indian Government before the transfer of Power took place on August 15 1947. These memorandums had clearly stated all the historical, political and national facts of the Naga nation and also the independent stand that the nation had proclaimed. The NNC leaders next declared Naga independence on 14 August 1947, and followed up that event with the conduct of the Naga national Plebiscite on May 16, 1951. The NNC further established the Naga Supreme Court on July 4, 1954, and as mentioned earlier, adopted the Yehzabo of Nagaland on January 14, 1956 and established the Federal Republic of Nagaland on March 22, 1956. Such strides and leaps from a state of nascent nationhood into full institutionalized nationhood was achieved in such short a time, only because our national affairs were guided by knowledgeable leaders who were men of courage committed to the nation’s welfare and future. The entire period of these rapid changes took them only 27 years (1929-1956) -or more precisely in NNC terms, only 10 years to accomplish! (1946-1956). On the other hand, in the case of India, though the Indian National
DailyDevotion Speech of Z. Royim, acting president of NNC Identified or Simply Interested? I have been crucified with Christ… —Galatians 2:20 The inescapable spiritual need each of us has is the need to sign the death certificate of our sin nature. I must take my emotional opinions and intellectual beliefs and be willing to turn them into a moral verdict against the nature of sin; that is, against any claim I have to my right to myself. Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ….” He did not say, “I have made a determination to imitate Jesus Christ,” or, “I will really make an effort to follow Him” —but— “I have been identified with Him in His death.” Once I reach this moral decision and act on it, all that Christ accomplished for me on the Cross is accomplished inme. My unrestrained commitment of myself to God gives the Holy Spirit the opportunity to grant to me the holiness of Jesus Christ. “…it is no longer I who live….” My individuality remains, but my primary motivation for living and the nature that rules me are radically changed. I have the same human body, but the old satanic right to myself has been destroyed. “…and the life which I now live in the flesh,” not the life which I long to live or even pray that I live, but the life I now live in my mortal flesh— the life which others can see, “I live by faith in the Son of God….” This faith was not Paul’s own faith in Jesus Christ, but the faith the Son God had given to him (see Ephesians 2:8). It is no longer a faith in faith, but a faith that transcends all imaginable limits— a faith that comes only from the Son of God.

Dear Naga people, I greet you all on this auspicious occasion of our Republic Day of 22nd March. The Nagas as Republic people and Nation has been declared 61 years ago on this day by the pioneers which was and is known to the outside world but it came with a heavy price as the Government of India sent her Armed Forces to Naga country and started killing the Naga people, burnt down our villages and occupied Naga country. These forceful occupation of Naga country was a political crime committed by the Governments of both India and Burma (Myanmar) against Naga people in particular and crime against humanity at large. Therefore, may the Naga people recollect on this occasion the heavy price we paid for our freedom and renew the zeal to come forward for National duty to stand together to achieve our freedom as the time and year is right and ripe. The recent chaos in Nagaland has clearly shown to the outside world and India in particular the strength and unity of Naga Tribal Hohos in opposition for conduct of Urban & Local Body Election with 33% reservation for women as infringement of Article 371(a) of Indian constitution in total unison. Today i must say that if the Tribal Hohos come forward in this strength of unison for Naga freedom of recognition, the Naga people will surely achieve our Goal without much difficulty. The time is ripe and the day is at hand. Therefore, let us put our mind and soul together in unison to work out the best political solution for our people for freedom of seven decades. In response to the call and urge for unity, the Naga National Political Groups are now in unity for the cause of our freedom. Therefore, the Naga people in the homeland should fully support the Cause and present unity of Naga National Political Groups without any reservation for the best political solution in the interest of Regional peace and development. The sooner people realize the better it will be for our Freedom. Kuknalim.

Congress was formed in 1885, it took that Congress 65 years to achieve their Republic day only on January 26, 1950. In fact, many other nations in the world too, had taken hundreds of years to transform themselves from a nascent state into an institutionalized state. Today as we celebrate our 62st Republic Day, all Nagas must remember the pioneer leaders of the NNC and salute their splendid services rendered to the nation. The entire nation must remember that it was these patriotic leaders who laid down the foundation of our nationhood. On this auspicious day, the nation also must remember the events that followed the inauguration of the Federal Republic of Nagaland in 1956. But due to heavy Indian military operations and attack of the planned site, the venue was hurriedly changed to Parashen in the Rengma region and inaugurated there. Although the burning of villages in Nagaland had started in the Tuensang Division at Huker as early as April 18, 1955, the mass burning of villages all over Nagaland was unleashed as soon as our Naga Republic Day was inaugurated on March 22, 1956. In this mass burning of villages and forced dispersions into the jungles, hundreds of thousands of Nagas perished from bullets, starvation and diseases between 1956 and 1957 alone. In the end, more than 645 Naga villages were burnt to ashes. The fields of these villages also could not be cultivated for years due to the relentless army operations in their lands. But in spite of all the trials and sufferings that our nation had undergone in all the past years, God on his part has faithfully preserved our republic which was in the first place dedicated to His name and glory on the 22nd March 1956. If the present generation would however betray all the sacrifices and achievements that our pioneering fathers have established and instead surrender our republic to another country, then this generation will have to live the rest of their lives in shame and infamy. God almighty, who is the giver of our nationality and our country forbid that such a tragedy should ever overtake our nation. On the contrary, may our republic, dedicated with the commitment of Nagaland for Christ and established with the blood of so many martyrs finally become a beacon of light for Asia and even the whole world. Long live- The Federal Republic of Nagaland. KUKNALIM
he NPCC’s pretensions to be a concerned purist Christian diehard after consuming all the corruptions in the most anti Christian ways in the last six decades to spite the BJP in expectation of a few votes in the next election is nondigestable. But as the truth is, the Congress being a ‘sickular’ party, juggles with religious sentiments for a few votes, putting anything on its path foregoing principles and ethics. Thus, the NPCC with repeated jumbled versions. The bottom line is, the NPCC is failingly bent on dwelling on the religious lines to wash off its dirty linens for elections. The presumed fear of the NPCC President Shri Therie is only a pretension trying to harp on the peoples’ mind which would not materialize into anything fruitful. To clear the board, the BJP Nagaland is a political unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party which is a National political party with lotus as its symbol. The BJP Nagaland and BJP has nothing to do with the NPCC’s obsession of ‘trishul’. And it serves to be clarified that the lotus and not the ‘trishul’ is planted in the BJP Nagaland and in Nagaland for the last three terms of 14 years. The NPCC should not use the trisul and lotus interalia according to its whims to hammer its weightless points. The BJP has memberships from all communities and religions including Christians and none are opposed to Christianity nor working against it. For reasons that the NPCC President desperately squarely

Ladies and gentlemen, I sent warm regards and Republic Day greetings to all our countrymen and women spread across the lands of our forefathers, illegally occupied by Myanmar and India, in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. As we celebrate our 62nd Republic Day, I would like to reminisce a little about the Nagas in the past. Since time immemorial we Nagas have been living as a free people, with an established village Republics. Misfortune befell our Independent Republics when the imperial Britishers set foot into our soil accidentally. To safeguard their colonial and business interest, the British subjugated some parts of Naga homeland and established administrative headquarters— history bears witness that the British Imperial designs faced stiff resistance from our forefathers in spite of inferior weaponry against the British— by and large, most of our homeland remained independent. The two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century altered the dynamics of international politics heralding an era of political consciousness in the erstwhile colonies of Africa and Asia. With the impending withdrawal of the Britishers from our territory and the Indian subcontinent, the Naga Club submitted a memorandum in 1929, to the Indian Statutory Commission also famously called the Simon Commission, wherein, our demand to be left independent was made explicit. The Britishers, however, betrayed the wishes of the Naga aspirations by dividing our lands arbitrarily--half in erstwhile Burma (now Myanmar) and half in the Indian dominion. With the exit of the British, the political power now changed hands into the government of India; whose leaders, most prominently Mahatma Gandhi, understood our desire for a separate nation. The political leadership of India, however, sent its occupational army into our territory to annex our land, suppress our movement and to subdue our voice. Nagas, being a peace loving people resisted the Indian incursion through democratic means— declaration of Naga Independence Day of 14th August 1947 and Naga Plebiscite of May 16, 1951— our God given freedom nevertheless, having been hijacked by our mighty neighbour India with her military might remains to be unshackled. Even though we live under the shadow of occupational forces, this day the 22nd March, is observed as our Republic Day, to reiterate and to make known to the world that the spirit of Naga nationalism and the struggle for our freedom continues till date. In the quest for our nationhood many a patriot—women and men— leaders and workers have shed precious blood and laid down their lives to keep the torch burning. Our parents and elders were hustled to concentration camps, villages and granaries burned, crops destroyed, women raped, innocent civilians killed. Many a story of atrocity suffered at the hands of the occupational forces remains untold. We remember them today with prayers in the hope that their suffering does not go in vain. The struggle of our people to regain the freedom that we lost has undergone a sea change according to the dictates of
time and circumstances. The first phase started by means of petitioning, followed by democratic process in the form of declaration of independence and plebiscite; active armed resistance and finally negotiations. Yet, the dream of our people to live as one nation, free from within and without has so far eluded us. When the Nagas first started the journey of freedom struggle, it was with one voice and under one umbrella. Today, we are a divided house, a fragmented society and a nation of contradictions: underground and overground. National workers and all Naga citizens, civil societies and the church, let us take a break to ponder at the way why things are going the way they are? We cannot afford to remain complacent and let further fragmentation of Naga nation take place and remain a mute witness. We may have difference of opinions and principles of approach, yet, we could learn to improve our arguments and agree to disagree, be conservative but not dogmatic, be liberal but with rationalism and not misguided by self-indulgence. What started as a common journey and destination turned into a maze and a Babel of voices. There had been times when Naga National Groups remained self-assured, aloof and deaf to the appeals of our people for a unified effort. The coming together of six Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and the subsequent formation of the Working Group on 14th December 2016, is a step in the right direction towards achieving our common goal and aspirations. It is my optimism that other Naga Political groups outside our fold would join us in the coming days. I appeal to all the Nagas for your goodwill and prayers towards the betterment of the Working Group. Posterity and history will perhaps be kinder to us where others have failed for the leap of faith we have taken. In the quest for political freedom, every Naga may not become a national worker or be expected to render a national service; nevertheless, irrespective of one’s station and calling in life, every Naga is equally responsible in the building of our nationhood— economically, spiritually and aesthetically. We may not have achieved our aspiration to live as a free nation; however, building of a strong and sound nation must not await for the ultimate victory of our struggle, as nationbuilding is a never ending process. We live in an age of enlightenment (informationsuperhighway) and globalization. We are adapting and embracing the ideals of consumerism and materialism at a very fast pace, yet, our national effort towards productivity is on a snails’ pace. To make our nation strong and stand tall, let us all endeavour towards qualitative contribution as opposed to quantitative. I urge every Nagas— Church workers, contractors, businessmen/women, technicians, scientists, teachers, doctors, workers’ skilled or unskilled, govt. servants— to give your best service. Our nation would progress better only if we give qualitative efforts at what we do. The greatest resource being human resource, we can ill afford to give our second-best, unless, we are hell bent on building a nation and a society of mediocrity. Kuknalim.
BJP rejoinder to NPCC
blames the BJP for every wrongful acts or comments of the society and religious groups, it is hereby clarified that the statement that ‘Christian will be wiped out by 2021” was made by a functionary of the religious organization Dharm Jagran Samiti in 2014 and not by the BJP. Likewise, he should responsibly note that the BJP do not associate nor subscribe with any and every religious comments of other social religious groups nor are responsible for them. If the NPCC President wants to feign so much concern for Christian welfare elsewhere, it should be noted that a Christian is not deterred by external threats but like Daniel, can sleep with the lions and walk through fire walls even if anything may throw up. Only hypocrites would feel threatened. What is most important is, to spiritually strengthen one’s own self and society with good works and actions which thus safeguards the believers. Not lame pretentious concerns. Knowing that, the NPCC need not worry for Christianity or Nagaland. Surprisingly, the NPCC suffers from amnesia as it does not recall having already been explained on the issue of Good Governance Day and Judges Day. They should be aware that the Government had also relaxed the dates for observing those days so as not to hamper the religious festivities. For further clarification and erasing the doubts of all, December, 25th was marked as “Good Governance day” in 2014 to honor the former BJP NDA
Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee and foster awareness among the Indian people of accountability in government whose birthday is also on the 25th December Christmas Day as of Jesus Christ. It was therefore not a religious assault on the Christians as many uninformed people thought or assumed so. For the BJP, it is not surprising to see many coincidences with Christian dates unintentionally. After all, the Bharatiya Janata Party was also born and launched on 6th April in 1980, on Easter Sunday, with Atal Behari Vaypayee as President. Would Shri Therie find fault in this historic date too? Secondly, the Judges Conference day is held periodically usually towards the end of the financial year to take stock of the financial accounts of the Courts. The usual 2 to 3 days conference of all the 25 High courts Judges are scheduled by the court administration themselves as per the dates available when the courts are free from litigation duties. The workloads of the judges compel the conference to be scheduled during holidays. Accordingly, in the past also, due to unavailability of suitable free dates, the Judges conferences were also held on important holidays and public events such as on Valmiki Day in 2004, on Good Friday in 2007 and on Independence Day in 2009. The BJP government is not responsible for the Judges Conference Day to coincide with Good Fridays. On Naga political issue, the NPCC may note that till date in
the post Independence era, the Congress had 8 Prime Ministers and ruled for 64 years while the BJP had 2 Prime Minister for 8 years running. Considering the long innings, there was not much of a Congress milestone in the six decades reflecting that the Congress leaders were not as serious as the BJP Leaders but used Naga issue as leverage for their electoral gains. Evidently, the non seriousness of the Congress on the Naga issue could be summed up in the terms of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991 who committed to the Nagas at Dimapur local ground to talk on Naga issue without pre-condition if voted to power. As to the EVM, the truth remains, it is faultless as substantiated by the Supreme Court and ECI and only losers complain. However, improvements to continually assure its efficiency are being undertaken. The BJP Nagaland is serious about bringing positive developments in the state at par with the rest of the country on the principles of “Sabke Saath, Sabke Vikas” or “Together with all, Development for all” and would not be deterred from this aim and purpose. The initiatives taken by the BJP central government can be referred to in several websites includingwww.mygov. in. If the NPCC is in any doubt about the BJP, they may visit the same instead of resorting to feigned apprehensions and accusations. Jaangsillung Gonmei, General Secretary (Media) & Spokesperson, BJP Nagaland

Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) president, Shaleem Konyak in his address recounted how the story of Naga freedom struggle stemmed from the common Naga public and eventually took an organised form. As such, he reminded the NPGs to take into confidence the Naga public in the pursuit of solution to the Naga political issue. ENPO vice president Sashi Naga rendered a poignant narrative as he attacked the Naga leaders for having failed the Nagas by creating more factions when the public cried for unity. Reiterating the ENPO’s slogan of unity, he asserted that reconciliation, first with God, was a must. He lambasted the Naga leaders for staying engrossed in infighting oblivious to the public cry for unity adding that leaders should be humble first.

Chuba Ozukum paid homage to the pioneers who started the historic journey of freedom for the Nagas. He said Nagas had sacrificed for self determination since the coming of Simon Commission in 1929 and continued to do so. Ozukum in his speech claimed that “none can deny that Nagas have given mandate to NSCN (I-M)” in perpetuating the Naga political movement and Naga peoples’ aspirations. He also spoke on the Naga youths, misuse of social media and attacked the “pseudo intellectuals” working against the interest of Nagas. Ozukum further urged upon all NNPGs to come together and work as one for the common cause.

asking whether the land for Nagas was only Nagaland state. “Is not all Naga inhabited areas the land of the Nagas? Has their Nagaland become different?” queried Muivah. The ato kilonser lamented that though NSCN has achieved so much without appreciating they were being opposed and asked where the Nagas were heading. He said Nagas have become “danger” for Nagas and that the “self-destruction” was in Nagas themselves perishing the Nagas for which he said Nagas should not blame the Indians or others but themselves. Stating that Jehovah has stood for the Nagas and made it possible for Nagas to come thus far, Muivah asked whether Nagas now would defy Jehovah’’s decision. He said government of India has recognised integration of Nagas as the legitimate rights of the Nagas basing on Naga history and not Indian Constitution. Muivah said “We have agreed that integration should not be through military but democratic process and at the earliest.” While not directly referring to other Naga Political Groups, the ato kilonser questioned “At this juncture when Nagas have to move forward, why, are you standing adamantly?” On wanting solution for Nagas of Nagaland, Muivah asked why “they” want to seek different solution for Nagaland state,

New Delhi, Mar 21 (Agecnies): In a move that will have a deep-reaching impact, the government on Tuesday proposed to make Aadhar card mandatory for filing income tax return and applying for permanent account number (PAN), which will come into effect from July 1. The government has proposed this rule through an amendment today to the Finance Bill, which is being discussed in the Parliament. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is expected to reply on the Finance Bill on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had earlier said that all devices that

The amendments to the laws like Companies Act, Employees Provident Fund, Smuggling and Foreign Exchange Act, TRAI Act and Information Technology Act, have been moved with an aim of making the functioning of tribunals more efficient by merging the smaller ones and reducing their numbers from 40 to 12. The objections by the opposition parties were overruled by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan who ruled that the ‘incidental provisions’ involved in the amendments constitute a ‘Money Bill’ and therefore can be considered as part of the Finance Bill. Jaitley, while defending the move to make amendments, invoked first Lok Sabha Speaker G V Mavalankar. He said if a substantial portion of a bill deals with imposition or abolition of tax, then even if it has other incidental provisions, it still can be introduced as a Money Bill.

male president was impeached by parliament in December as millions took to the streets to demand her removal over the sprawling scandal, which has exposed the links between politics and business in Asia’s fourth-largest economy. Her dismissal was confirmed by the country’s top court earlier this month, ending the political career of a woman who grew up in the presidential palace as the daughter of army-backed dictator Park Chung-Hee. As a private citizen once again, Park’s convoy drove at walking pace through crowds of flagwaving supporters lining the street outside her home some of them lying on the pavement to try to block her exit before she left.

McGuinness died on Monday night after a short illness. A controversial figure, McGuinness was a leader in the Irish Republican Army terrorist group before becoming Sinn Fein’s chief negotiator during the Northern Ireland peace process, CNN reported. In a statement, Sinn Fein described him as a man of “great determination, dignity and humility”. His death comes less than three months after he resigned as Deputy First Minister, sparking an election and threatening Northern Ireland’s fragile powersharing arrangement. He retired from politics on January 19, saying his health had been deteriorating. McGuinness was born in 1952 in a Catholic neighbourhood in Derry and

Thousands of individuals and cargo vehicles crossed the border to enter the two countries through Torkham and Chaman border crossings, Geo TV reported. Travellers, transporters and traders expressed happiness at the government decision. “The two countries should resolve matters through discussions. BRUSSELS, MAR 21 (IANS): European Council President Donald Tusk on Tuesday announced that he will convene a special summit on April 29 to finalise the EU’s guidelines on Brexit. Tusk said that meeting would strive to achieve “certainty, clarity for all: citizens, companies and member states”. The summit will take place in the middle of French elections, which will be held over two weekends at the end of April and at the start of May, reported the Independent. At the summit, all eyes will be on how strongly EU leaders insist that Britain must agree to settle its “divorce bill” before negotiations can start on a future trade deal. Announcing the date, Tusk vowed to make “the process of divorce the least painful for the EU” -- although he did not mention what pain lay ahead for Britain. “In view of what was announced in London yesterday I would like to inform you that I will call a European council on Saturday 29 April to adopt the guidelines for the Brexit talks,” he told a press conference in Brussels.

Kapil was accused of allegedly hurting Sunil while drunk on a flight from Melbourne. On Monday, Kapil tweeted: “Paji Sunil Grover. Sorry if hurt you unintentionally. You know very well how much I love you. Love and regards always.” In reply to the tweet, Sunil sent out a long post via social media on Tuesday. In it, Sunil said that even though working with Kapil had been a learning experience, he requested that Kapil should treat everybody with respect. “All are not as successful as you. All are not as talented as you are. But if they all are talented like you, who will value you? So have some gratitude towards their existence. And also, if someone is correcting you, don’t abuse that person,” Sunil said. He added: “Refrain from using foul language in front of women who have nothing to do with the stardom you carry. They are just travelling with you. Thanks for making me realise it was your show and you have the power to throw out anybody, anytime.” Sunil also asked Kapil to not act “like God”. Responding to Sunil’s post then, Kapil wrote: “You won my heart. I love you more and more.” According to the buzz, Sunil skipped the shooting of the show’s latest episode on Monday.

aging Ted Nugent! If you believe Gene Simmons‘ 2014 assertion that rock is dead, then this Donald Trump guitar could make America rock again for you. Over on eBay, there’s a listing for a guitar that’s been customized by Axe Warrior Guitars to commemorate the inauguration of President Trump. The body features a painting of Trump wearing George Washington’s Revolutionary War uniform and holding a high-powered weapon with out-stretched fist and a bald eagle perched on his shoulder as he stands over some wreckage. A U.S. flag is in the background. According to the listing, the double-cutaway “lightweight and relatively balanced” guitar was made in 1961 by Decca, with a tobacco sunburst finish, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard.
It has one pickup that is described as “age-appropriate” and gives off a “rockabilly tone,” with knobs for volume and tone control. Even though there’s some wear on the 20 frets, they are considered to still be in excellent condition. The electronics are functioning, claims the listing, but the guitar needs to be set up. The starting price for the guitar was $249.95, but has since jumped to $1,805. Bidding ends tomorrow morning at 10:12AM ET. Another Trump-designed guitar listed last month sold for $350.

Jadeja grabs top spot in bowling; Pujara 2nd in batting
Ravindra Jadeja
Cheteshwar Pujara
NEW DELHI, Mar 21 (PTI): India’s Ravindra Jadeja pipped spin twin Ravichandran Ashwin to grab the pole position in the latest ranking for ICC Test bowlers while Cheteshwar Pujara reached a careerhigh second rank among batsmen. Left-arm spinner Ja d e j a w h i z z e d p a s t Ashwin after snaring nine wickets in the drawn third Test against Australia, which put the four-match series interestingly poised at 1-1. Jadeja, who grabbed five for 124 and four for 52 in Ranchi, has gained seven points after starting joint-first with Ashwin at 892 points. The left-arm
spinner has become only the third Indian player after Ashwin and Bishan Singh Bedi to top the bowling charts on his own. Pujara too has reason to celebrate as his knock of 202 has helped him gain four slots to reach a careerbest second ranking with 861 points. The Saurashtra batsman has replaced New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who is now in fifth place, also slipping behind Joe Root and Virat Kohli, who remained static at fourth position. Top-ranked Australian captain Steve Smith has reached a career-high rating of 941 points after scores of 178 not out and 21.
W h i l e Ja d e j a h a s closed in on a major landmark as his tally of 899 rating points has put him on the brink of becoming only the second Indian bowler after Ashwin to touch the 900-point mark, Ashwin, who had a highest rating of 904 points, has slipped 37 points behind Jadeja to 862 points after finishing with just two wickets in Ranchi. Meanwhile, the race for the second spot in the ICC Test team rankings has become interesting as Australia and South Africa compete ahead of the cutoff date of April 1, on which India is assured of finishing first and getting a cash award of $1 million. Australia will finish second and get a cash award of $500,000 with at least a draw in the last Test in Dharamsala while South Africa can finish second if Australia loses with South Africa either winning or drawing the last match against New Zealand in Hamilton. The third-placed team on April 1 will receive $200,000 while the fourthplaced team, which will b e E n g l a n d , w i l l ge t $100,000.
London Stadium set to host Cricket WC match in 2019
L o n d o n, M a r 2 1 (Agencies): A deal is close for England to play a 2019 Cricket World Cup match at London’s Olympic Stadium. An agreement is expected to be reached for two group games, including England’s biggest group fixture, to be held at West Ham’s ground. It would increase the number of venues in the tournament from 11 to 12. Officials have been in New Zealand to review the latest technology for dropping in a ready-made wicket and, to preserve the condition of the pitch, the tournament’s opening ceremony will not be considered at the stadium. A 60,000 capacity ground is twice the capacity of Lord’s, the next biggest
ve nu e. I n Ja nu a r y a n inspection found that the playing area would be big enough to conform with the minimum size required. The stadium’s seating configuration will have to be changed from the current set-up with West Ham. The World Cup will comprise 48 matches played between May 30 and July 15 in 2019. “It would be an amazing statement to have 55,000 to 60,000 people in a ground in the UK watching World Cup cricket,” said Tom Harrison, ECB chief executive. “It has the right dimensions to play meaningful cricket and not a lot of other stadiums around the country have got the capacity to fit the boundaries in.”

the club for allowing me the chance to take up this challenge.” He added, “I have enjoyed working with the manager, players and staff but I have to reserve special

However, Fire requested the midfielder join them now and, as Schweinsteiger was unlikely to play any significant part at United for the remainder of the season, the Old Trafford club have sanctioned his exit.
