The new site, some 5 kms from Mon district hospital was finalised by minister-in-charge of Mon district Paiwang Konyak as per the directive of Konyak legislators Earlier, on March 11, the Konyak legislators adopted three resolutions – shifting the earlier site from Chi Ponghoa to Chah-yo; reduction in purchase rate of land at Rs 3 lakh per acre and entrusting the overall responsibility to identify new site to minister in-charge of Mon district P Paiwang Konyak. DIMAPUR/KOHIMA, MAR 16 (NPN): Banking services across the country including Nagaland were affected for the second straight day on Tuesday as public sector bank (PSB) employees continued with their two-day nationwide bank strike under the banner of United Forum of Banks Unions (UFBU) to oppose the Central government’s proposed move to privatise PSBs. Though the two-day strike ended on Tuesday, the unions warned that the agitation may take a form similar to the farmers’ protests if their plea was not heard by the Centre. Ramesh Hasu said the next phase of agitation would depend on the government’s decision. NEW DELHI, MAR 16 (AGENCIES): Not all public sector banks would be privatised, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on March 16. Her statement came on the second day of pan-India strike against the central government’s privatisation push. Sitharaman said only some of the public lenders are being selected for divestment to strengthen their financial condition. In the process of privatisation, the government would assure that the social security and other benefits of employees are protected, she stressed. “We have announced a Public Enterprise Policy, where we have identified 4 areas where public sector presence will be there, in this, financial sector too is there. Not all banks are going to be privatised,” she said.

DIMAPUR, MAR 16 (NPN): Dimapur police in its pre-quarterly report for the period January 1 to March 16, 2021 issued on Tuesday said that 19 individuals were arrested in connection with extortion related case and seized Rs. 31,10,515. Accordingly 13 cases were registered and the seized items forwarded to district court, police said, adding the seizure and arrests were made by district police and Assam Rifles.
