He said that a good understanding of the state at the grassroots level, engagement in conversation among the citizens and with a proper self realisation were the primary essentials for resolving the dilemma which the Nagas faced. Dr. Aküm elaborated that the power lay not with the upper section of the political structure but with the common mass. He said the key reasons behind the chaos were the absence of shared analysis, no questioning of the structure of power, and critiques which were limited
to the function of power. Real power, he said, lies in its redefinition which leads to transformation. On inquisitions regarding the ignorance and disinterest of most youth in the matters of politics, Dr. Aküm stated that it was due to the wrong conception of politics which had been ingrained into the minds of most youth of today. D r. A k üm f ur t he r stated that youth of the generation must struggle not for unity but for unity in purpose which would result in the much desired Naga reconciliation. He concluded that truth,
justice, mercy and peace should go hand in hand for reconciliation of the divided Nagas. Questions were also raised by students wherein the resource person addressed each of the questions. RALH urges govt to redeploy IRB in DAB DIMAPUR: Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) has strongly urged upon the government of Nagaland to permanently re-deploy IRB personnel in the Disturbed Area Belt (DAB) under Ralan area that has been withdrawn during the recent ULB election crisis. In a press release, RALH, secretary CS Ovung stated that IRB police personnel were deployed at Ralan area soon after the 2014 landowners- tenant confrontation issue, the issue which was yet to be settled. RALH stated that the Assam Armed Police (AAP) which has established its pockets in around 12 locations in the area after the 2014 crisis was yet to be withdrawn. Therefore, the Hoho termed that it was urgent and important that the re-deployment of Nagaland IRB personnel be at the earliest as without which, RALH said the safety and security of the Naga/ Lotha public would be at stake and its lands under threat. Besides without the presence of IRB personnel in the area, it would be doubtful that the neutral forces posted in the area would exercise neutrality while dealing with the issues related to the Lotha Naga public, RALH stated.

After administering the art of commission, NBCA executive secretary, Rev. R. Meren spoke on the topic “Catch the vision”. He said the ministry of church should be evangelism, preaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. R e v. M e r e n a l s o challenged the youths to “catch the vision” of the
church and bring revival in the church saying, without the presence of the Holy Spirit a church would not be functional. E a r l i e r, Pa s t o r Rukuolhoulie Solo also shared his life testimony. Women Secretary NBCA Mhabeni Ngullie led the service while Daniel Sangma, Pastor, Garo Baptist Church pronounced the invocation. 93rd battalion BSF jawans celebrating Holi festival on Sunday. KOHIMA: Holi festival was celebrated by the 93rd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday at Chedema, about 10 Kms from Kohima with D. K Pathak, former Director General of BSF and chairman, Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) as chief guest. Speaking on t h e o c c a s i o n , Pa t h a k commended the commandant 93 Battalion
o f B S F, f o r h a v i n g organized such a festival in a grand manner, as the members of the battalion were celebrating Holi being far away of their home places for the defence of the country. Pathak also extended warm Holi greetings to all troops and their families and exhor ted them to celebrate the festival of colours to bring peace, unity and harmony in the
country. Commandant of the 93rd BSF battalion Hemant Kumar welcomed the guests, CFMG chairman D K Pathak, Nagaland Director General of Police (Prison) Rupin Sharma and deputy commissioner of Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan. The jawans of the battalion also presented colourful cultural function and Hindi songs during the celebration.
DIMAPUR: Dimapur District Services Authority ( D D S A ) a n d Wo k h a District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) on Sunday, in a separate programmes, organized training for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of Dimapur district at the conference hall of District Court, Dimapur and legal wo r k s h o p a t E l u myo v i l l a ge u n d e r Wo k h a District respetively. Dimapur District Services Authority in association with Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) conducted the orientation training for PLVs which was imparted by master trainers and legal aid counsel-cum-trainer of NSLSA. The training commenced with ice breaking session led by master trainer NSLSA Cheliam Khiamniungan, who also briefed on the training methodology and concepts. Ajong Imchen gave detailed illustration on the Do’s and Don’ts, proper practice, rules and
mode of operation of PLVs. In the practical session, master trainer Nagaland State Legal S e r v i c e s A u t h o r i t y, Alemwapang Ao, conducted drill on drafting of Petitions, Complaint, F.I.R to equip PLVs with adequate drafting skill. Legal aid counselcum-trainer NSLSA, Easter Aye, pre pared the PLVs on dealing and handling cases related to crime against women and children and their protection. Role of PLVs in cases of motor accidents and claims was presented by master trainer Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, Limasenla Longkumer, and exercise on Consumer Redressal Techniques & For ums was presented by Cheliam Khiamniungan. In the afternoon session, Easter K. Aye spoke on human trafficking issues and current realities within the local context. In the second practical session, exercise on
maintenance of records, Para Legal Volunteer register, filling of success stories, was coordinated by Alemwapang Ao. Re s o u r c e p e r s o n of the training, member secretary NSLSA, Nino Iralu, highlighted on the c h a l l e n ge s, t e c h n i c a l issues and way forward visions on the context of PLVs and panel lawyers. Imasenla Longkumer apprised the Para Legal Volunteers on Prisoners Right and ways to ensure the prisoners right. Later, group discussion session was also held with the PLVs and officials of Legal Services institution on various National Legal Ser vices Authorities (NALSA) Schemes and flagship programmes. Meanwhile, NSLSA has informed that such trainings were imparted both at State and District level regularly to create a breed of PLVs in the State and also to ensure that the trained Para Legal Volunteers act as intermediaries, bridging the gap between the people
at village/community level and the legal service institutions for successful implementation of Legal Services and aid schemes in the State. WOKHA: As part of the legal literacy and awareness c a m p a i g n , Wo k h a District Legal Services Authority conducted the legal workshop during which several members of Wokha District Legal Services Authority took tur ns and highlighted various legal provisions, schemes, and Acts to the villagers. Panel lawyer, Daniel Ezung spoke on the purpose of the workshop and highlighted the activities, functioning of legal services institution in the state and flagship programs of legal services authority being implemented in the state. Speaking on ‘The Nagaland Village Council and Area Act, 1978’, assistant public prosecutor and ex-officio member of WDLSA, Renbemo Tungoe, elaborated the salient features framed
under the Act and powers vested on the village council and functioning of the subordinate and district customary courts. Later, Grace Ezung spoke on the basic provisions of law on the topics Domestic Violence and illustrated the features and provisions on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Re s o u r c e p e r s o n Renpon, panel Lawyer WDLSA, spoke on the topic of Consumer Protection Act, 1986. He mentioned the various laws and rights which have been enforced to protect the consumer. Panel lawyer, Meribemo, apprised the villagers on Right of Children to Free and Compulsor y Education Act (Right to Education Act). The workshop concluded with interaction sessions. The programme was coordinated by members and panel lawyers of WDLSA and chaired by David Ezung.
ATMAs conduct various programmes for farmers across state
KOHIMA: One day farmers’ training on ericulture and its economics and integrated fish farming was organized by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Kohima on March 7 at DAO conference hall. During the programme, ATMA, Kohima deputy PD, Rokoshuno Angela, stressed on the importance of income generation for farmers which can be obtained from various farming activities. At the technical session, Sericulture Extension Officer (SEO) Keneizetuo Khro, gave an explanation on ericulture. The plantation technology of Castor and Kesseru were explained in K

detail. Different types of rearing were also discussed. The economic importance of Ericulture was deliberated to the participants. Meanwhile, resource person, fishery inspector, department of fisheries Wa b a n g L o n g k u m e r, covered the following topics on the advantages of paddy fish culture, site selection, species of fish suited for paddy cum fish culture. The technical session was followed by an interaction between the resource persons and the participants. Altogether 32 farmers attended the training programme which was chaired by ATMA

During mobilization of farmers’ group programme importance and up-gradation of women groups were highlighted and new FSG under the nomenclature “Semya FSG” was also formed. Demonstration on integrated pest and disease management of ginger and package of practices for
mushroom cultivation were conducted by Limasunep ATM at Noksen village at March 10. On March 11, Selila ATM gave demonstration on care and management of piglet and mobilization of farmers group at Noksen town. Altogether 22 farmers and two from farmers’ friend attended the programme. ZUNHEBOTO: ATMA Zunheboto organised “within state farmers tour” to SARS Yisemyong on March 2. The tour was led by BTM Akuluto, Aolemla Kichu with the objective to expose the farmers to research farm activities and
interact with subject matter specialist. T h e f a r m e r s we r e highlighted to experimental plots, organic farm, vermi compost unit, germplasm collection, water harvesting structure, watershed model area and horticulture poly house cultivation. The farmers also i n t e r a c t e d w i t h A . O, M a r l e p z u k a n d A . O, Kikatemjen. Altogether 6 farmers from Akuluto, Suruhoto and Tokiye block participated. “cultivation of maize” and “soil conservation in jhum field” on February 25-27 at Ajiqami village and Lumami village. In the programme, resource persons were SDAO & BTT convenor, Imliakum and BTM, Aolemla. During the programme, the resource persons imparted the farmers on seed bed preparation, seed rate and spacing, weed management and intercropping with other crops. Also farmers were taught on different methods of soil conservation a n d i m p r o ve d f a l l o w management. Altogether 29 farmers were benefited through the programme.
