Yediyurappa was sworn in as Chief Minister of the state for a fourth time on Friday in a sudden twist to the protracted high voltage political drama in the state with a big challenge to manage numbers staring him in the face. Shortly after taking the oath, Yediyurappa said he would move a motion of confidence in the assembly on July 29 to prove his majority, apparently confident of winning it with the expectation that 16 rebel Congress and JDS MLAs may abstain as they did on Tuesday last, giving him the edge. NEW DELHI, JUL 26 (NPN): As part of the 100 days action plan, Development of North Eastern Region ministry has implemented 49 projects worth Rs 1231.94 crore in the North Eastern region so far. At the review meeting chaired by DoNER minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, DoNER secretary Dr. Inder Jit Singh said that two items of DoNER have been included in the ‘100 Days Plan of Action’ of government-- to sanction/ start/ complete/ operationalise 200 projects worth about Rs 3,000 crore, which means on an average @2 projects for Rs 30 crore per day, an official communiqué stated. Eight new projects for Rs. 586.3 crore under NERSDS and NESIDS schemes have also been included. Among the schemes included under NERSDS-- upgradation of AT Road from Tsusangra to Impur Jn (26.335 km) including three bridges (NagalandAssam Inter-state road; Nagaland 26.335 kms and Assam 0.00 km). KOHIMA, JUL 26 (NPN): A 25 year old youth from Nagaland who had gone to Gurugram (Gurgaon) in search of a job reportedly went missing on July 20. According to Nagaland Police, Gurugram police arrested two suspects along with the mobile of the missing person. Nagaland Police said the two persons (auto drivers) claimed to have told the Gurugram police that they kept the mobile of Vangba in lieu of non payment of fare. State Police team led by ADG (L/O) R. Kikon was in constant contact with his counterparts in Gurugram. A special Gurugram police Team with a SP rank officer has been formed to trace the missing person. Gurugram on July 13 to look for a job and had put up with one of his friends in Gurugram. According to the description, vangba and his friend had gone shopping on July 20, when Vangba reportedly asked his friend to go ahead as he had forgotten something and went back to the market to get it and did not return that night. Vangba’s family has filed a complaint at South PS Kohima and a complaint was also lodged at DLF Phase-I police station. Health & Family Welfare minister Pangnyu Phom, who visited the family members, mentioned that he was in touch with the people concerned and authorities in Delhi on the matter, adding he would do his best to find Vangba. DGP Nagaland has also updated the chief secretary and assured him that all efforts are underway to trace the missing person.
(NPN): Chumoukedima Area GBs’ Union (CAGBU) has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of road between Purana Bazaar and Chumoukedima. In a press release, CAGBU president Tokishe Achumi and general secretary Pamong Phom said the union executive meeting held on July 26 resolved to appeal the 4-lane construction firm to provide quality work and complete the work at the earliest. The union stated that currently the road was full of potholes and the commuters were facing immense hardship due to dusty road. CAGBU stated that timely watering of the road should be carried out at intervals, which would ease the problem of dust pollution. CAGBU has appealed to the general public to cooperate for the proper and timely completion of the four-lane road.
DIMAPUR, JUL 26 (NPN): Medziphema Village Council and Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho have decided to engage themselves in watering NH-29 (ongoing 4-lane road work) under Medziphema town on July 29, from 7 to 10 a.m to reduce dust pollution. In a joint statement, MVC chairman Nikhonyü Kuotsu, MTMK president Akhoto Kuotsu and general secretary Khrielie Iralu said despite repeated appeals made to ECI & NHIDCL to address the problem of dust pollution and complete the black-topping work, no action has been taken till date. As a consequence of non-compliance to the grievances of the people, the signatories said the public have decided to engage themselves in watering the highway. They informed that vehicular movements except emergency service would face restrictions during the said period. They have also resolved to further intensify similar actions in the future if the responsible authority failed to respond including blacktopping of the road without further delay.

DIMAPUR, JUL 26 (NPN): Accompanied by his wife Kavita, outgoing governor PB Acharya left Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Friday and arrived here by road. Before his departure from Raj Bhavan, he was accorded general salute by House Guard at the courtyard and was seen off by staff members and security personnel of Raj Bhavan in the presence of Nagaland ministers CM Chang and Temjen Imna Along, additional chief secretary and development commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen, home commissioner Abhijit Sinha, additional director general of police R Kikon, Kohima deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP). On his arrival at
Dimapur, a guard of honour was presented by Nagaland Police at Chumoukedima Police House, after which he along with his wife proceeded to the airport. gave a welcome address, while the keynote address was given by National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme’s (NVHCP) State nodal officer Dr Vezokholü Theyo. Speaking on the occasion, health & family welfare (H&FW) minister S Pangnyu Phom remarked that viral hepatitis was now recognised as a major public health problem in India. He claimed that Nagaland had proved its dedication in reproductive and child health and communicable diseases, which had resulted in positive outcomes. Emphasising that coordination and collaboration with different departments would be one of the key strategies to address the issue of viral hepatitis, he mentioned that with the rollout of hepatitis C treatment at NHAK now the
need was to ensure hepatitis testing and treatment plans with dedicated funding and investment. He said NVHCP under NHM was one of the new initiatives of Government of India. Initially, he added that the focus was to provide treatment for viral hepatitis C along with various other preventives aspects like awareness generation, safe blood and blood products, injection safety and infection control. He mentioned that he was happy to announce that lifelong treatment for hepatitis B would also be provided under the programme very soon. Stating that investing in hepatitis was a smart decision for broader health outcome and preventing liver cancer, the H&FW minister advised everyone to stop being ignorant and
State govt sets up panel on customary practices, usuages DIMAPUR, JUL 26 (NPN): State government has constituted a committee headed by the chief secretary for compilation of the personal customary practices and usages of all the tribes in the state. According to an official notification, there was a need for compilation of the personal customary practices and usages of all the tribes in the state so as to have a better understanding of the same as well as for the purposes of record and reference. The four-member panel would be headed by chief secretary as chairman, home commissioner and secretary justice & law as members and commissioner & secretary, art & culture as member secretary. The committee has been tasked to chalk out the modalities for carrying out its work in the manner it deems appropriate. The committee has been empowered to utilise the services of any government official or associate any person as it may deem fit for successful completion of the task assigned to it. The committee has been asked to submit its report within two months from the date of its constitution. Meeting with tribal bodies on August 7: With the constitution of the committee for compilation of the customary practices and usage of all the tribes in Nagaland, state government has convened a meeting for discussion and deliberation with all the tribal bodies of the state on August 7, 2019 at 11am at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima. DIMAPUR, JUL 26 (NPN): Ao Union Chumoukedima (CAST) along with Ao mothers and students in Chumoukedima and Jongpang Medem Zunga staged a silent protest at Chumoukedima town Friday against the brutal murder of Tasenjungla allegedly by one Sanjay Lodh on July 12, 2019. It may be mentioned that Dimapur police have arrested the prime accused Lohd in connection with the
murder of Tasenjungla, a 22-year-old girl, whose body was found floating at a water body near Green Timber Mill, Chumoukedima on July 12. Following today’s protest rally, the AUC submitted a memorandum to EAC Chumoukedima to be forwarded to deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur. In a press release, CAST secretary K Wati Imchen said EAC assured to take up the matter seriously and all necessary action
would be initiated on priority. In the memorandum, the union has demanded the authority not to grant bail to the accused, but fast-track the case and ensure that the perpetrator be awarded befitting punishment. Meanwhile, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has also submitted a representation to the principal district & session judge Dimapur urging to refrain from entertaining of bail application of the accused.

After the disqualification of three rebel Congress MLAs, the current strength of the 225-member assembly excluding the Speaker is 221 and the half-way mark 111. Present party position is BJP along with one independent 106, Congress 76 (including MLAs decision on whose resignations and disqualification plea is pending), JD(S) 37 (including resigned and pending disqualification), one BSP, one Nominated and the Speaker, who has a casting vote in case of a tie. The Speaker is yet to decide on the resignations of 14 MLAs and disqualification petitions against them, three of whom are from JD(S) and the rest from the Congress. He had on Thursday disqualified three rebel Congress MLAs.

DIMAPUR, JUL 26 (NPN): In a freak accident, one person was killed while another was fatally injured when a large tree fell on a moving taxi in which they were travelling near Niathu Resort, Chumoukedima here Friday evening. The deceased identified (Cont’d on p-7) as Kediochol (47), a resident
of Kohima, was travelling to Kohima from Dimapur. The driver of the illfated taxi whose identity has not been established was in a critical condition. The incident occurred between 5 to 5:30 pm. The tree was suspected to have fallen after it was weakened by the ongoing four-lane road consturction works.
NLA secretariat has informed that the Assembly Speaker has fixed August 6, 2019 for holding the election of the Deputy Speaker by the Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly. NLA secretary, K.
