`80 lakh loaded for ATM missing from van in Dmu

DIMAPUR, Jul 19 (NPN): In the first such incident in Dimapur, around Rs. 80 lakh was reported missing after the cash was taken out from the SBI Main Branch and loaded to a Cash Transit Van inside the bank premises here Thursday at around 11 a.m. According to sources, after the employee of the Jorhat-based private security company, SIS had loaded the cash, some strangers told him that the other employee had dropped some cash while bringing it to the van. Thereupon, the employee went to retrieve the fallen cash and on return, found that someone had looted the cash from the van. In this connection, four individuals have been detained. Sources also suspect the entire heist was “an inside job” as security guards supposed to accompany the party did not report to work. Also the driver was also not in the van but went to answer nature’s call, when the other employee went to “retrieve the fallen cash”. An FIR was also lodged with police in this connection.

Ravi explains basis of framework agreement NEW DELHI, JUL 19 (AGENCIES): Central government has informed a Parliamentary panel that it signed a framework agreement with the NSCN (I-M) after it agreed on a settlement within the Indian federation with a “special status.” According to The Hindu reports, Interlocutor for Naga talks, R.N. Ravi, told the committee that it was a departure from their earlier position of “with India, not within India,” and that the government called it a framework agreement and signed it. This is the first time that details of the agreement signed at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 3, 2015, have emerged. The details are part of the 213th report on the security situation in the Northeastern states tabled by the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Home Affairs in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. The committee was also informed that the “contours” had not been spelt out in the framework
agreement that was “just about the recognition of the uniqueness of the Naga history by the Government of India”, and some special arrangements will have to be made for the Nagas. “On being asked what the special arrangement will be, the Committee was told that with respect to Nagaland...Article 371A of the Constitution makes it clear that they are special and a special status has been accorded to them. A similar kind of status, with some local variation, and some change to the Nagas in the neighbouring States can be explored,” the report said. RBI to soon issue new `100 Acharya completes note in lavender colour 4 years as Governor
NEW DELHI, JUL 19 (PTI): Reserve Bank Thursday said it will soon issue new Rs 100 notes in lavender colour having motif of Rani ki vav a stepwell located on the banks of Saraswati river in Gujarats Patan. “All Rs 100 banknotes issued earlier will also continue to be legal tender,” the central bank said while announcing the issue of the new Rs 100 notes. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. Dimension of the banknote will be 66 mm x 142 mm, making it smaller than the current Rs 100 notes. The size of current Rs 100 notes is 157 mm x 73 mm

DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya on Thursday completed four years in office as the Governor of the state. According to PRO Raj Bhavan, officers and staff held a brief programme to honour Acharya. Principal secretary to Governor, Piyush Goyal stated that under the guidance of Governor, Raj Bhavan Nagaland has been moving towards new heights and achievements. Goyal said Governor has also been a source of inspiration and has taken up various welfare initiatives for the people and the Governor’s Secretariat. Besides others, Goyal also pointed out that Acharya had always been supportive of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” project and other Central and State Government welfare schemes for the benefit of the people.

Ban on appointment sans sanctioned posts DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): Nagaland Government on Thursday issued a directive that all appointments at all levels would be made only against existing vacant posts that have been created in accordance with the rules in force and no appointment of any sort would be made in the absence of a vacant post. In an office memorandum, the department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) stated that despite clear instructions, it has come to the notice of the government that a number of unauthorized appointments without sanctioned posts have been made by certain heads of department. Pointing out that the government has viewed seriously such violation of standing rules/procedures, the P&AR department re¬iterated that the erring officials would be
penalized as per the rules. Criminal prosecution of the erring officials would be taken up by filing FIR in the Vigilance Commission and also all payments of pensionary benefits should be withheld till criminal case was disposed off.

DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): Eastern Nagaland peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) Thursday reiterated that it would reject any economic package in lieu of its demand for a separate state. ENPO through its media cell, however, clarified that it was not opposed to any economic package for the backward region of the state provided it was not under the name of ENPO. While maintaining their commitment to the statehood demand, the people of six tribes ––Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchunger under the aegis of ENPO, reiterated their “uncompromising stand” to firmly reject any form of economic package both by the Centre and State in lieu of statehood demand (separate assembly, separate administration and capital of its own). DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN): Principal District & Session Judge, Dimapur, Neiko Kano, has convicted the two accused involved in murder of a truck driver Vivender Rai in 2013 whose dead body was found at 2nd Half Mile in Dimapur. In a press release, public prosecutor Dimapur, Hutoi Yeptho, stated that the Principal District & Session Judge, Dimapur, Neiko Kano, in his 23-page judgment, sentenced the two – Bipul Sangma and Depak Mech – to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life. In the judgment, the Court has also recommended a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh as per Section 357-A of Code of Criminal Procedure for the loss of life as per notify Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012.
