STBC, SBAK-Aizuto observes platinum jubilee in Suruhuto

Candles lit up to commemorate 75 years of STBC in Suruhuto.

DIMAPUR: Suruhuto Town Baptist Church (STBC), SBAK-Aizuto, celebrated 75 years of platinum jubilee on August 8 and 9, under the theme “Renewal of hope for eternity”.

A press release by media supervisor, Bombo K Yeptho, stated that pastor, Suruhuto Town Baptist Church, SBAK-AIZUTO, Toshevi Aye, in his message, stated that STBC was established in the year 1945 and till then, the church had achieved many laurels and many prominent leaders have been serving God and its people under this Church.

Stressing on the meaning of jubilee which is to come together, loving each other and forgiving each other, pastor urged the gathering to be loyal, forgive each other and live together happily. Other speakers in the jubilee included executive secretary, SBAK-Aizuto, Rev. Mulato Chishi, president, Sumi Hoho Nagaland, Hekhushe Shikhu and Pastor, Yehemi Baptist Church, Rev. Phuheto Shikhu.

Souvenirs and gifts were given to invitees and those leaders who had served the church in the past several years, while due to the pandemic, entertainment items that led to huge gatherings were avoided. The release also added that as per government’s regulatory order, the jubilee was celebrated with minimum staff, where members were made to use protective gears. Everyone entering the church passed through a disinfectant chamber and maintained physical distancing among them.

DPO, SSA Zunheboto clarifies on incomplete school buildings Distribution of tea saplings under Niuland sub-division Medical camp at Beisumpuiram village Centre (PHC), Ahthibung conducted a medical camp at Beisumpuiram village, Peren on August 9. A press release by UIF Peren district coordinator, Rampisinang Newme KOHIMA: Opposing the proposal of conducting security training under the jurisdiction of Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO), the NAYO expressed that “it was very unsafe for its populace to have the intended attendees coming from different parts of the state during this difficult time” of pandemic.

A representation by NAYO president Roko Angami and general secretary, Ruokuoneitso Kire to the Director General of Police PHQ Kohima, requested cancellation of the proposal for conducting security training under Northern Angami jurisdiction.

Having learned through reliable sources that Police department has announced a call for training of security personnel at 4th NAP Thizama and 10th NAP IR at Zhadima, the NAYO stated that both the purpose centres were under its jurisdiction.

Pointing out that the proposed training centre of Zhadima and Thizama were located in the heart of the village dwellings, the NAYO stated that it cannot allow “this proposed training to jeopardize the safety of its citizens in the slightest as it is morally and legally bounded by the constitution.” DIMAPUR: Tuensang District Task Force on COVID 19 held its meeting at DC conference hall Tuensang on August 7 and deliberated on inter-district movements.

DIMAPUR: Rotaract Club of Dimapur (RCD) jointly with Rotary Club of Dimapur in association with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) executed sanitisation drive at Dimapur on August 9.

A press release by Rotaract Club of Dimapur president, Nikhil Jain stated that, sanitisation drive covered public areas like Shyam Bazar, Signal Basti, man DTF Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant. Members deliberated on the latest August 4 SOP for returnees and travellers entering Nagaland. The house decided to form one liaison team to be stationed at Mokokchung to assist travellers coming to the Dhobinala Point G.S Road, Murgi Patti, Kalibari Road and Marwari Patti covering the area of almost 4 kms.

Rotaract Club of Dimapur also presented a small token under the banner SAMMAN - an initiative by Rotaract District 3240 to appreciate the corona fighters of Dimapur who helped in sanitising the area. All the four sanitary workers were predistrict via Mokokchung.

DIMAPUR: District project office (DPO) Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Zunheboto has clarified on the issue of four incomplete school buildings under Aghunato education block.

In a press release, the SSA Zunheboto district assistant coordinator P. Ahito A stated that “the union bodies have been targeting the chairman and coordinator of the District Mission Authority (SSA) ie, DC and DEO and the state officials” in regard to the incomplete buildings. Therefore, the release clarified that even prior to the first press release by the Eastern Sumi Students Union (ESSU) on June 26, 2020, the incomplete projects were discussed and planned to be completed this year. It stated that a meeting was called on June 29, but unfortunately ESSU president could not attend on that date so the meeting was postponed to July 15 in which the VEC chairman and secretaries, council chairman, GBs of the four habitations were invited.

Even though the Eastern Sumi Students Union representative did not turn up and since the issue was on the pending projects, the meeting was conducted with representatives of the four habitations, as the work was executed by the concern VEC under the supervision of DMA, stated the release.

It further stated that during the meeting, discussions were held and resolved the following conditions, wherein GMS building of SMC Viyilho and SMC Ketomi shall be completed by October 2020; SMC Shevishe GMS building shall be completed by December 2020; SMC Ngozubo to be completed by December 2020; The work shall be executed by September 2020 due to the monsoon season after that strict disciplinary action shall be initiated against the defaulters. It also informed that the report has been submitted to the State Mission Authority Nagaland Kohima and Eastern Sumi Students Union.

In this regard, it clarified that since the target of the department was to bring the schools at the doorstep of the children, “whatever losses that may have been incurred does not come under purview of the department for additional fund though it understand that at the time of abandonment, all four projects were on the verge of completion and not as is depicted today.”

District project office Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Zunheboto also stated that it shall not indulge in media war, and for any further clarifications, the unions are requested to contact the office, and “restrain from going to press implicating the entire state and district Education department.”

DIMAPUR: Tea saplings were distributed to tea growers of Niuland sub-division under tea development programme (RKVY) by the office of SDAO Niuland on August 7.

A press release by SDAO office Niuland stated that, during the distribution programme, SDAO Niuland L. Kivika Chophi highlighted that tea was the most important plantation crop of India where it generates income and livelihood for millions of farmers in the country. With tea consumption on the rise, the SDAO explained that there was a need for increase in tea production. He also explained that with the setting up of a private tea factory at Nikhekhu village, likely to be operational by next year it would facilitate marketing of tea leaves as well as ease the transportation cost of the farmers. Tea farmers were encouraged to expand the area under cultivation and also to bring new areas under tea cultivation in order to support the upcoming tea factory as well as to generate their income.

A total of 50,000 (fifty thousand) tea saplings, knap sack sprayers and handouts containing management of insect/pest and diseases in tea were distributed to tea growers from Nihokhu, Nikhekhu, Kuhoxu, Viyito, Hovishe and Hovukhu villages.
