Anyone who dares to attack India will get a strong response. We will pay back in same coin and with compound interest,” Modi asserted. “Today, every Indian has become a chowkidar who is standing firm against forces of terror, misgovernance and corruption,” he said. India can attain its true potential only when its security needs were taken care, he said adding his government has attached top-most priority to the Defence sector and strategic interests. Now you have to make a choice between the lie of Rs 15 lakh and the truth of Rs 3.60 lakh,” he said. Attacking Modi over his chowkidar claim, Gandhi said the poor cannot hire a watchman, a luxury only the wealthy can afford.

NPCC terms BJP manifesto ‘anti-minority, anti-diversity’

Zeliang also alleged that BJP at the Centre was never serious about resolving the “Indo-Naga” political issue but was only offering a false hope to the people. He said during the past five years the BJP-led NDA government had only made announcement after announcement for a solution, but in reality it was never committed to bring about an amicable solution to the problem. He also accused the PDA government of having no concern for the people and likened it as “ a wolf in sheep clothing”, by only trying to please BJP to retain power. Zeliang also said the PDA government’s achievements was nothing but “harvesting” what the previous DAN-III government had sown. Therie asserted that BJP’s assurance to pass CAB was with intent to “wipe out the identity and existence of minorities” particularly in the North East region. Terming as “incorrect” PDA’s plea that Art 371(A) and ILP would protect Nagaland, NPCC president said that if CAB was passed, no one could stop granting citizenship. He said that once citizenship was granted before the Constitution of India, they would have equal rights and opportunities and they cannot be stopped from voting. With such voting power, Therie said immigrants, who would come in crores, would also have the power to elect representatives. “And since the decision making process is by the majority, in a few decades, we will have no place and will be reduced to a minority in our own land as has happened with the indigenous Tripuri people,” he said. APO lauds WSH stand on name usage DIMAPUR, APR 9 (NPN): Angami Public Organisation (APO) has appreciated and extended “full support” to Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) for taking “bold steps” concerning usage of Naga names and surnames by the non-Nagas. APO through its press and media cell said that Naga names and surnames, as mentioned by the WSH, should be used only by true original Nagas. Stating that there was a time when Nagas embrace even non-Nagas into the society, APO, however, said that now the infiltration of non-Nagas into Naga society has increased a thousand-fold and keeps increasing day by day. “We are all aware of it now and unless this dangerous trend is checked or stopped completely before it is too late, not only our businesses and properties would be totally taken over by them but our very own identity, traditions and culture including our land will be lost and swallowed completely by these non-Nagas,” APO said. APO therefore lauded WSH for taking stringent action and for standing firmly in maintaining the Naga identity and protecting our heritage. It urged all tribal Hohos to extend solidarity to the WSH at all cost in safeguarding Naga names and surnames now and in the future. Further, APO has warned Advocates/Notary public/s against taking up such cases of usage of Naga names and surnames by Non-Nagas in the future as pointed out by the WSH.
