Commercial LPG price cut by Rs 83.5 NEW DELHI, JUN 1 (PTI): Price of commercial LPG, which is used by business establishments like hotels and restaurants, on Thursday was cut by Rs 83.5 per 19-kg cylinder -- the third straight monthly reduction, while rates of jet fuel (ATF) were slashed by 7 per cent on softening international oil prices. A 19-kg commercial LPG now costs Rs 1,773 in the national capital, down from Rs Rs 1,856.5, according to price notification from state-owned fuel retailers. This is the third straight monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices.

IMPHAL, JUN 1: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced the formation of a judicial commission head by a retired high court judge to probe the ethnic violence in Manipur, a CBI investigation into six cases related to it, a peace committee, an interagency unified command for non-partisan coordination among security agencies. assured that the investigations would be carried out without fear or favour and that the guilty would be punished. Shah, who arrived here on May 29, left in afternoon
after holding a series of meetings with civil society organisations (CSOs) to bring back peace and normalcy in the strife-torn State. He said that Manipur
had witnessed development in various sectors in the last six years under the BJP government, with prevalence of peace and prosperity. However, he admitted that due to a court’s “hurried judgment”, there had been some misunderstandings among people of different communities. Asserting that the Centre was committed to ending the prevailing unrest, Shah said a peace committee under the chairmanship of governor would also be constituted to restore peace and normalcy in the State. It would comprise of
industrialists, intellectuals, sportspersons and leaders of CSOs, among others, he added. To expedite the restoration of peace and normalcy in the State, he informed the media that an officer of joint secretary level would be posted and accompanied by another five officers of director level from different ministries. Disclosing that several cases had been registered in connection with the recent violent incidents, he said six cases would be probed by a special CBI team.
DIMAPUR, JUN 1 (NPN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has directed all its federating units and subordinate bodies to hoist black flags at their respective offices in protest against the failure of the authorities to arrest those involved in vandalising NSF office even after lapse of five days. In a directive, NSF president Kegwayhun Tep and general secretary Siipuni Ng Philo stated that despite the perpetrators publicly claiming responsibility for the crime the authorities (Cont’d on p-8) concerned have failed to act.
In this regard, the federation has directed the units and subordinate bodies to also to put up the banners explaining the reason as to why the flag was hoisted. “This exercise shall continue until befitting actions are initiated by the authorities against the culprits involved in the criminal act,” NSF stated. Further, the federation has asked all its units that compliance report along with pictorial and video recordings should reach the office of the NSF before 5 p.m. of June 2, 2023.

DIMAPUR, JUN 1 (NPN): State health and family welfare (H&FW) department has responded to the one-month ultimatum served by the Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) on the department to deploy adequate manpower and essential surgical instruments/equipment at Community Health Center (CHC) Shamator as per Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) norms for Community Health Centre. In a statement issued on Friday, principal director H&FW, Dr. Vibeituonuo M. Sachu, stated that as per the
IPHS norms the state was already facing huge shortage of doctors, nurses and technicians. The principal director said that creation and upgradation of health centres over the years had created a huge shortage of manpower, infrastructure and equipment in the state. Stating that the Health department was in the process of rationalization of health units across the state, the principal director has, therefore, requested all responsible to cooperate with the department in order to address the issues for the benefits of all its citizens.
