b i o The Bahati Female Band is made up of 12 young women and the Band Leaders who are well multi-talented and well-groomed artists with a passion for music, dance, drama and can combine skills in singing, playing modern and traditional instruments and entertain audiences who have a taste for African beats and various music genres.

With the Feel Free grant, Bahati Female Band presents Binti Sanaa "Inawezekana" which aims at reaching women with musical talents living in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo and providing them with special music training as well as developing them through performances and other opportunities in the music industry.

b i o Fahari yetu Tanzania is an applied heritage conservation programme that supports poverty alleviation and sustainable community development in the country.

The programme was established in 2013 as a project of the University of Iringa and registered as an independent NGO in 2019. The name fahari yetu – a Swahili term translating to “our pride” – refers to the organization’s guiding principle of making people proud of their origins, culture and history.

This research and exhibition project supports the conservation of Tanzanian cultural heritage through exploring oral history and colonial memories of local communities in form of visual art and photography.

b i o The Kibubu Ufinyanzi project aims at imparting pottery-making skills and craftsmanship to youth aged 18 to 35 who have knowledge or interest in pottery and live in the Mbaru ward, Lushoto district in the Tanga Region. Kibubu ufinyanzi is a home-based pottery bank that is moulded and has a small hole for money to be inserted until it is full, at which point it is broken and the money is removed.

The project's major purpose is to promote the art of pottery to young people while simultaneously teaching them financial literacy through home-based pottery banks (Kibubu Ufinyanzi) for money saving.

b i o The Center for Africans Development through Economics and the Arts (ADEA), was co-founded as a Company Limited by Guarantee in Mtwara, Tanzania in 2003.

Later ADEA was registered, under the Non – governmental act, 2007, on 30th August 2019 ADEA hosts yearly the Makonde Makua and Yao (MaKuYa) cultural festival and documentation in Mtwara region. MaKuYa Festival aims at promoting, preserving and perpetuating traditional culture and performing arts.

Rebuilding Futures is a capacity-building and vocational training program that aims to provide support to marginalized individuals. Our focus is on addressing skill shortages in Tanzania by enhancing the value addition to local resources.

The program will offer vocational education and training program in product designing and manufacturing to a group of 20 inmates from Luanda prison in Mbeya. Our main emphasis will be on utilizing sisal as a primary resource while integrating other local materials like bamboo and wood to create a diverse range of products.

Through skill development, resource utilization, and a focus on sustainability, the program aims to create a positive and lasting impact on both the participants and the local economy.

b i o The Female Footprints Project challenges harmful stereotypes and outdated narratives about women through art and creative methods, increasing awareness and public debate on gender equality in the context of Zanzibar.

With the Feel Free Grant, they aim to empower and capacity build female artists and creatives in the process of creating a groundbreaking children's book and a second edition of their photography book, sharing the stories of Zanzibari women driving positive change. The Female Footprints Project believe in the power of visual storytelling and are committed to promoting gender equality, leading the way towards a gender-equal future in Zanzibar and beyond.

b i o The SAANA ZIWANINYANZA is EMEDO's latest project that seeks to promote freedom of expression supported by Nafasi Art Space based in Dar es Salaam.

With support from the FEEL FREE grantee programme, SANAA ZIWANINYANZA will implement a kind creative experiential program that benefits Mwanza artists and audiences alike through knowledge sharing /education, advocacy, and mindset shift. The installations set to be created under this ambitious incubation pilot project will also showcase a creative philosophy of turning threats into opportunities using found objects and wasteto-art innovation. The project has the potential to reawaken the average rural-urban mind on key social issues through the arts while empowering Mwanza artists to create new art mediums.

b i o The use of food culture, and cake sculptures, to tell stories. Cake sculptures are going to be used as a medium of storytelling where stories of different young girls (single mothers) will be shared to engage the audience and learn from different perspectives.

With support from the Feel Free grant, Scolastica aims to empower and capacitate a number of struggling single mothers with cakemaking skills through a series of trainings that will be conducted in Dar es Salaam. The major purpose of this project is to enable these young women to use their newfound knowledge as a means of financial sustainability.

“Feel Free Grant Project” is a special program organized by Nafasi Art Space, with support from the Embassy of Switzerland and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

It's meant to help new artists and art groups explore their ideas and connect with audiences better to encourage creativity and help artists and groups do their best work, making the art scene more exciting.
