I am deeply grateful to my fellow board members for electing me to lead the NAEC as President for the 2025-2026 term.

In the coming year, I will represent the association at industry events domestically and internationally, a role I take very seriously. It is an honor to serve our membership and lead the NAEC at the forefront of the elevator industry.

Reflecting on my career, I owe a great deal to the NAEC’s invaluable support. The opportunity to network and build relationships with companies and vendors in our industry enabled me to grow, learn, and achieve my dream of founding Independence Elevator. The NAEC’s influence was surpassed only by the love and support of my family.

I was fortunate to begin my career as a young woman at Dover Elevator Company. The experience and mentorship I received there shaped me into the well-rounded elevator professional I am today. That foundation gave me the confidence to join an independent company, where I first became an NAEC member over 20 years ago. I started by volunteering on committees, attending conventions, and learning about the organization. These experiences revealed the NAEC’s true strength: networking. The association allowed me to connect face-to-face with those behind the emails and calls. I built professional relationships and personal friendships with suppliers and also competitors. Within a few years, I was nominated to the Board of Directors, serving as a Director for one year and then as Secretary for the final two years of my term.

When I launched Independence Elevator in 2014, the relationships forged through the NAEC were invaluable beyond measure. While the phrase “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” isn’t universally true, it holds significant merit. It’s reassuring to reach out for help when you know the person at the other end of the call. That is a key strength of the NAEC:

Meet Amy DiPaolo, NAEC Board President… continued from page 1

it provides a vast network of people who want to support your success.

After a successful seven years, I sold my company to a connection grown over the years at the NAEC, and I currently work for American Elevator Group. Now, as the first person in the elevator industry to serve on the Board of Directors for a second term, I am honored to lead as President. What a journey!

A focus of mine as President, is to increase recruitment into the elevator industry. Outside wartime, such as World War II, our nation has rarely faced a trades worker shortage as severe as today’s, with 454,000 annual construction openings (see attached chart) and a projected 2.1 million unfilled trades jobs by 2030 (Deloitte). The shortage is driven by retirements, low youth entry, and reduced vocational training. As industry veterans, we must teach and inspire newcomers. I aim to use my platform to recruit talent by sharing my story and showcasing the rewarding opportunities in our industry.

WE’RE BENT ON DOING THINGS THE FAIR WAY.”

According to Fast Company, up to 80% of business partnerships fail within their first year. Add four equal partners to the mix, and the odds seem stacked even higher. But DJ Graves, Layton Capwell, Stewart Smith, and Bo Collins knew that statistics only tell part of the story— devotion and sacrifice write the rest.

Ask any of the four, and they’ll tell you the same: operate as one, or not at all. After years of building a friendship through the trade, they decided to sail their own ship and launched Fairway Elevator. “We’re bent on doing things the fair way,” they say—and so the name was born with each partner bringing their unique superpower to provide something truly special.

Three years in, their partnership has not only survived but thrived. Fairway Elevator stands as proof that great friends can be great business partners. They love their team, their trade, and the people who make up this industry. Their story is one of unity, grit, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way.

Fairway Elevator isn’t just a business—it’s a testament to what’s possible when friendship meets professionalism in the vertical transportation world. Through relentless innovation and a true client-partner mindset, this company consistently delivers on its promise: to care for the customer, care for their families, and care for one another. Watch as the doors part on any floor of this company and you’ll find this team of friends always doing things the FAIR way.

Fairway Elevator elevates more than just buildings—they elevate expectations. As a leading provider of premium elevator installations, Fairway prides itself on delivering unparalleled speed, quality, and service to contractors and businesses who demand the best.
