What a busy last few months NADR has had!

We had a very exciting and successful conference in Puerto Rico that saw many new faces and a lot of familiar ones as well. Getting together in person with a large group for the first time in 3 years highlighted how important it is to see each other in person. The personal connections you make and sharing of ideas is not the same when you aren’t physically together. The other exciting news is of course the fee cap raise to $7,200 which takes effect on November 30, 2022. It was a long hard fight taken on by many organizations over the last 13 years and I’m proud to say NADR played a major part in the effort and was recognized by the acting commissioner for our role.

The reopening to the public of field offices began back in March and so far, the reports have been mostly positive. The reopening was vital to those that are unable to conduct business with SSA via the internet or phone effectively. The reopening has also taken some pressure off the fragile phone system that has been so heavily burdened since the start of the pandemic. SSA says they are still working on replacement of all 3 major phone systems and that they hope to have this in place by the end of the year.

NADR recently met with OCS (Office of Customer Service) regarding the overdue unpaid representative fees to express our memberships concern. The inability to effectively communicate with the payment centers has been a big issue and has made already slow payment of representative fees even slower. OCS listened to our concerns as well as expressed their challenges over the last 2 years. We are scheduled to meet with them soon and I will update everyone then. Our legislative team has been hard at work always trying to improve the representative and claimant experience with Social Security. Keep an eye out for our legislative update soon. I hope to see even more familiar faces and some new ones at our Fall Networking Weekend in St. Petersburg, FL!
