A Creative Solution to Summer W
ith the summer holidays fast approaching, parents are faced with more than two months of keeping their
children occupied during the hottest time of the year. While many expats leave Hanoi for part of the summer, many do not have that luxury and are left to cope with not only the heat, but also the arduous task to fill the days with activities for their children. N-Square will be launching its first summer camp for children aged from 5 to 12 in Tay Ho. Parents will be able to enrol in weeks that suit their schedule as it will run over a period of ten weeks. The program is specifically designed to combine playful activities within the subjects on offer. All weeks are themed based and incorporate Language, Science, Math, Music and Yoga. Students will be completing projects every week and publish their very own story book weekly in the language arts program. The classes are restricted to twelve students per age group. A swimming pool on the premises will be part of the program with water activities as a period. The program runs from 9 am to 3 pm with all instruction in English throughout the day.
An additional after hour option will be offered to working parents. A well balanced lunch will be provided daily which is included in the tuition fee. N-Square is a new creative center offering creative classes and workshops in various disciplines to adults during the day and to students after school hours during the school term. For further information on dates and activities please mail Nada on nsquare.nl@gmail.com or Nitika on 090 2250 056 or follow us on facebook/nsquarehanoi

21 Apr – 04 June 2017 L’Espace “The Gesture of Memories” by Florian Nguyen. The French-Vietnamese artist Florian Nguyen (born in 1988) moved to HCMC in 2016 where he developed a visual art project consisting mainly of works drawn in black and white and installations. His drawing is characterized by a great precision of the line, from the drawing on paper to the monumental fresco. He is currently working around the memory and processes of restoring memories. The exhibition presented in 2016 by the l’Institut français de Ho Chi Minh Ville addressed the issue of the transmission of family memory. The exhibition “The gesture of memories” at L’Espace is an extension of the project begun with the French-Vietnamese choreographer, Sébastien Ly, about the gestural memory. It takes the form of a series of drawings and various in-situ installations.

L’Espace
The Asian Women and Friends in Hanoi is an open and exclusively women’s group composed of ladies from expatriate, diplomatic and local communities who are working and living in Hanoi.
Under the framework of the European Literature Days - L’Espace will be exhibiting the works of Jean-Charles Sarrazin and take a look at his three books recently published in Vietnam. His “Because I love you”, “Seed of love” and “What is that?” are three among several works illustrated by Sarrazin, with the stories of Pascal Teulade. One of them is a touching story about maternal love, one is full of humor – explaining to children how babies are created, and the last one is full of surprises – talking about the abundant imagination of children. Jean-Charles Sarrazin is an illustrator from

EXHIBITION
12 May - 12 June Ynot Gallery Quang An, Tay Ho, Hanoi
François Bourgineau - Tethnik Sculptures After spending a great deal of time in Pleiku and the Gai Lai province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, François Bourgineau had the opportunity to meet Ksor Nao, a famous master Gia Raï sculptor and start a collaborative and creative relationship with him. Traditionally Gia Raï sculptures were put around mourning houses or family graves and made directly from a tree trunk The essence of this exhibition attempts to revitalize the Gia Rai sculpture tradition with new figures and alternative materials like inox and clay. His sculptures intend to maintain the ancestral design and methods in a contemporary artistic way and realized by Vietnamese “Golden Hands” craftsmen Ksor Nao, Bui Viet Doan, le Van Thu & Phan Tuan Dat. The craftsmen worked with François on the items from sketches and cardboard models.
