P R O F I L E HYDRODYNAMIC MODELING

Tidal Current Using 21 Software: I am a final year student in the marineModeling engineering study program MIKE at the Sumatra Institute of Technology who has an interest in working in the offshore and onshore fields. Has several organizational and internship (Merak Port Case Study) experiences and has the ability to operate AutoCad, MIKE 21, Ansys, ArcGIS, Sketchup and other Marine Engineering software.

HYDRODYNAMIC MODELING Tidal Current Modeling Using MIKE 21 Software: (Merak Port Case Study)

Data Source: PUSHIDROSAL

Data Preparation Bathymetry and coastline data were obtained from the Indonesian Map, then digitized using ArcGIS Then the data saved in (.XYZ) format.

(Coast Line)

(Bathymetri)

(MAP Digitization)

Meshing At this stage the bathymetry and coastline data are inputed into the work area on MIKE Zero Mesh Generator. Boundaries on the mesh is Line Type. The name of boundaries are North, East, South, West.

Tidal data from MIKE 21 Toolbox Tidal data is created in MIKE 21 Toolbox by inputting a mesh. On this research, tidal data contains from 01/12/2023 00:00 - 03/12/2023 00:00. Video Animation

Set Up Flow Model Module in MIKE 21 & Running

The Result: This is a visualization of the results of the Tidal Current model. The image displayed is the current speed

The aim of setting up the module is to input data and select the output that will be produced. After completing the module setup, the next process is running.

HYDRODYNAMIC MODELING Sea Wave Modeling Using MIKE 21 Software: (Merak Port Case Study)

Data Source: PUSHIDROSAL ECMWF

Data Preparation Wind Data from web ECMWF contains data from Jan 2013-Dec 2023. Bathymetri & Coast Line from Indonesia Map Digitized from ArcGIS.

Windrose The dominant winds that blow at Merak Harbor are from the West and Southwest.

Fetch

Meshing in Mesh Generator At this stage the bathymetry and coastline data are inputed into the work area on MIKE Zero Mesh Generator. Boundaries on the mesh is Line Type. The name of boundaries are North, East, South, West.

Fetch is made in 8 cardinal directions & create using ArcGIS, Next, calculate the effective fetch length. The biggest fetch efektif at Merak Harbor is from the West and Southwest. Hindcasting Wind Data (Hs, Ts, Dirrection) Hindcasting Method using SPM 84. Forecasting wave data (Hs) and (Ts) will be input into wave modeling using MIKE 21 SW

Set Up Spectral Wave Module in MIKE 21 & Running The Result: Waves move from the north, south and southwest towards the southeast (Harbour). The significant wave height in Merak Harbor waters in December includes calm waves, between 0.1-0.5 m, meaning it safe for crossing activities. Video Animation

Conclusion:

The highest Hs in the west season occurred in 2015 at 0.77 m with Ts of 3.17 s. In the 1 Hs transition season, the highest occurred in 2021 at 0.74 m with Ts of 3.30 s. In the east season the highest Hs occurred in 2018 at 0.57 m with Ts of 2.76 s. In the 2 Hs transition season, the highest occurred in 2018 at 0.50 m with Ts of 2.97 s. Wave movement patterns, waves coming from outside the bay move into the bay.

Wave Model Visualization in the West Monsoon (18/Jan/2022 15:00)

The waves in the waters of Batang Bay are safe for ship transportation activities.
