Edge Fall 2019 Professor Kevin Hoffman

Site Location : Long Dock Park - Beacon, NY Concept of the park is constructed to avoid flooding, it is a system of depressing and elevating spaces. My program is a park that consists of a skatepark and a bridge with some seating areas. I depressed the skatepark underground creating little pool areas for the water to stay in and I designed swales for drainage, while elevating my bridge and seating platforms. The concept of the bridge connects people to the river and to the environment. I elevated the bridge to view the mountains across, one of the mountains is the Beacon Mountain. My highest point is focused in the center of the bridge. On the other hand, I placed my swales towards the edges of my site, treating them as a drainage system for the water that would go on land, whether it is from the river or from the rain.

Rhizo Service Area Fall 2021 Professor Lane Rick Site Location : Milltown, New Jersey Milltown is a very quiet and disconnected town. The main goal of the project is to create a rhizomatic network of connections that not only connects both sides of Milltown together, but also connects people together for more interaction. By creating these pockets of spaces with diferent programs such as a playground, dog park, library and food couurt, it increases interactions among people.

Ex filanda Solanda

collective living

Spring 2021 Professor Camille Sherrod Site Location : Rome, Italy After analyzing the surrounding context and the existing structure of the Ex Filanda, the main elements I picked up on were courtyard space forms as well as movement through space and natural light. By combining all three elements I decided to create a gradient through different spaces guided by light and movement.Depending on the program, the form of the building is structured to let in a certain amount of light during different times of the day. The residential units are placed at the bottom of the building and is more of a rectangular form in order to blend in with the surrounding context, while the gallery space is placed at the top. The gallery is a more of a dynamic structure letting in more sunlight as well as casting views of the exterior greenery space across from the site.

ex filanda and solanda

The relationship between the existing structure on the site (ex filanda) and solanda is the placement of the main communal space to where the original enterance was, having the space more open and allowing in sunlight in that space throughout the day.

Movement through space Movement in the interior as well as the exterior are important to my design. the color green represents movement, in the interior spaces, on the second and third level there are interior balconies that are considered public. And on the fourth level, the painting hall.

Ecology center Spring 2020 professor christina Site Location : Lower East Side, NY, NY The site is located right off the FDR highway and the Hudson river. Keeping that in mind, I intended to keep weather condtions in mind while designing my ecology center. the proposal recognizes surrounding context- highways, building forms, and weather condtions. Explorations of those three elements plus spatial conditions led to the final building design.
