ecently I observed a Brother who had undertaken a task and had obviously made the decision that nothing was going to stand in his way to get this task completed properly and precisely. What made this so especially interesting to me was that he did not approach the task aggressively and nor did he make a big noise about it. He calmly and confidently set himself up to succeed despite the fact that everything was actually against him, in the sense that what he needed to do the task was not available and he had no-one around him with the capacity to assist him. I observed that he was "blind" to these things and did not even acknowledge them as obstacles. A famous football coach is credited with once encouraging his team with the words "obstacles are things you see (only) when you take your eyes off the goal". This Brother also had to contend with the authorities who were not about to make his task any easier.
Yet he persisted and because of this he succeeded! It is noteworthy that the famous Empire State Building, a 102 floor building built in 1930, was completed in 410 days - 1 year and 45 days! The message here is: we can achieve whatever we want to without bypassing or shortcutting, even when there appears to be little to work with. This has also been the experience of those who have gone before us in the Work o f God and whose foundation we now build upon. Let us grasp the challenges that are before us and set our course to the destination "success" in every part of our work, always serving the Lord with gladness.

During the month of January a number of our congregations were blessed with additional gifts. Pr. Teswil White was confirmed into the Priest ministry for Howick Congregation; Pr. Eugene Smith was ordained by the Apostle Williams for New Lynn Congregation and Pr. Enate Evi was confirmed into the Priest ministry for Henderson Congregation.
CHIEF APOSTLE LEBER IN MOMBASA, KENYA 22 Feb: The travel itinerary of the international Church leader, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, included a stop in the East African country of Kenya. Last Sunday he conducted the final divine service of his African trip in Mombasa, where he ordained a new Apostle and a new Bishop for the work of the New Apostolic Church in the large country. Apostle John Mbiti from the eastern part of Kenya was also given a well-deserved retirement. He had served as a minister of the Church for 33 years, among them some 23 years as an Apostle.
Severe Earthquake in Negros Oriental Feb: Negros Oriental is the Eastern part of the island of Negros in the Philippines. The earthquake from Monday in the local environment of the city of Tayasan had a magnitude of 6.9. According to press reports, many people are still missing, more than 40 people dead. The New Apostolic Church there is also affected. Our church in Tayasan Central has also been damaged by strong quakes. Other affected churches are Bago and Banban based on our conversation with Bishop Bacane. He told us that around 50% of both churches were damaged. We still didn’t receive any word from the other congregations in Negros Oriental except for Ayungon Central Church as District Elder Zuniega told us that the church is ok, but it was his house that collapsed and some of the houses of our brothers and sisters in Ayungon.

News Items: 1. During January Apostle Pouru visited the Popondetta Region of Papua New Guinea where he sealed 124 souls and ordained 6 Priests. 2. In a Divine Service on Sunday, 29 January Priest Martin Kenzler of Windsor congregation, Brisbane was placed into retirement.
3. Deacon Eugene Smith was ordained Priest for New Lynn, Auckland on Sunday, 29 January by Apostle Williams.

Come Lord Jesus Vol.1 to 4 is the main source of teaching material for Sunday School. SS3 Lessons will be scheduled for the following Sundays: 11/03 - Lesson 72 18/03 - Lesson 74 25/03 - Lesson 114

Religious Instruction
God’s Ways is the main source of teaching for Religious Instruction. Like the other workbooks, it is entitled “God’s Ways” because it is God’s ways which are impressed upon the children in religious instruction. RI Lessons will also be uploaded to the Issuu website, once finalized.
Confirmation instruction under the theme, I also want to..., and additional lessons developed are the main source of teaching material for Confirmation. District Leaders and Rectors do final preparation for the three months from January up to their Confirmation on Palm Sunday. Confirmation Lessons will also Young people are encouraged to be uploaded to the Issuu website, be involved in the congregation once finalized. through the various activities that take place and also through music by being members of the choirs and musical groups that function in the congregations. There will be a Youth Service at the end of March, WITH the congregation in Tawa. There are 2 young adults conventions (18+) in 2012, one over Easter in Brisbane and another in July, also in Brisbane. Details will follow shortly. Our local Youth Convention will take place (likely in AKL) the last weekend in September by our Apostle Williams. The cost will be $100.
he month of February was busy with planning for 2012, meeting with the Priests and also the music and Sunday school teachers and coordinators. Our District Elder also visited us in February! We bid farewell to some of our visitors who had attended with us and even become part of our congregation. Sister Susan returned to her home country, the Philippines, and Brother (Deacon) Daniel Spes left from AKL International 1st March to return to his home in Germany via Los Angeles stopover of a couple of weeks. His enthusiasm and willingness to help and be involved will be missed surely, not to mention his music ability and beautiful playing on the Cello and standing in when we needed an organist. God bless you both!
Our focus for this weekend is Service for the Departed and I look forward to seeing you all in Service on Sunday. You are welcome to bring a flower to place in front of the altar as a visible connection to our loved ones in the eternity. God bless,
