Dear Teachers,
ith great joy and thankfulness, I place this textbook in your hands. I know that you will pray much for the wisdom needed to teach our children what has been compiled in this manual.
The Lord Jesus loved children. Through our work upon their immortal souls, they should learn of this love. So that they can understand, we must speak to the children on their level. We feel their way into their understanding and convey to them the wisdom and justice of our Lord. In this manner religious beliefs have been incorporated into the lessons. The stories, pictures and hymns serve as teaching aids. If you serve by the power of the Holy Spirit you will experience how the faith of the children is nurtured. Thus you become gardeners in a delightful garden where every flower can grow to the honour of God. It is a matter of great concern to me that the points listed under the heading 'Objectives' may always guide you. This will support the parents in their great task of bringing up their children. "The Father's house is our delight, there we find joy anew!" This should be a goal striven after also in the God-fearing parental home. The Children's Book for the Sunday School should encourage conversation between parents and children regarding their experiences in the house of God. It is very important that the bond of love in Christ's teaching embraces both parent and child! I assure you of my fervent intercession on your behalf at all times. Your,
Richard FEHR
