gain this year many young brothers and sisters received their Confirmation blessing throughout our district. It is wonderful to see these children so appreciative and sincere in their faith and accepting their new responsibilities as they spiritually “come of age”. As ministers, we can be truly proud of our young ones who take Confirmation seriously and also of the parents and teachers who support and teach them the value of all the opportunities that God provides and that their church involvement offers. Our Chief Apostle consistently refers to “encouraging the Confirmands to put their abilities and talents to work for the Lord” every time he writes to

them. This is a wonderful encouragement and we, as ministers in the congregation, must do our part to support this by ensuring we offer opportunities to the young ones to become involved.

s m e t I News 28 April Ordinations Evangelist Bryce Diaz was relieved from his responsibilities as Rector of Wellington and Priest Charles Kaluwasha was commissioned as the new Rector. Brothers David Oldham and Keith Pretorius were ordained as Deacons. Confirmation During the same service (28/4), Apostle Trevor Williams confirmed Tammaryn Venter who pledged her faithfulness to God by reciting the Confirmation Vow.

Word of the Month The Lord will acknowledge those who hold to Him Jeremiah once received the following message from the Lord: “Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘If you return, then I shall bring you back; you shall stand before Me’” (cf. Jeremiah 15: 19). Read full WOM online ...

To commence this process, many will have to be asked, as waiting for ones to volunteer at such an age could be a futile exercise. I wish you much success in fully utilising the abilities and talents present in your congregation which are offered by willing children of God for the furtherance of His great work. Brotherly yours,

FROM OUR RECTOR JUNE 2013

From Our Rector

IN FOCUS:

By Priest Charles Kaluwasha Welcome to this month’s edition of our newsletter. I would like to apologize for not publishing the newsletter in the last two months. I hope from now onwards we shall be receiving items from you in order to make it more interesting.

The importance of Divine Services the central event in our church

Our latest news is that we have a new Chief Apostle, Jean-Luc Schneider who was ordained on 19th May, replacing Chief Apostle Leber who entered into retirement during the Pentecost Divine Service. We wish our retired Chief Apostle Leber rich blessings for the future. On the same note, we want to welcome our new Chief Apostle into our hearts and may our prayers strengthen and support him in the great task of leading us to the Promised Land. This month we want to focus on the importance of divine services, the central event in our church. Attending divine services help New Apostolic Christians draw strength from the fellowship with God, His servants and children of God. During these gatherings, we have an encounter with our God when He serves us in His house. We go into his house with great anticipation and longing to experience His love and blessings. The Lord will not come to those who do not long for him, who think they can do all things without Him and his help, but those who need Him want always to be near Him. We are nothing! This motivates us to gladly attend divine services and look forward to having the Lord in our midst. In His house,

we seek His will, our sins are forgiven, He comforts and heals us and shapes our lives and directs us into right way, just like the ‘GPS’ (thanks to Evangelist Bryce for the acronym). Brothers and sisters, seeking God in truth will: Keep us from harm Help us focus on the Lord and have our hearts set on Him Have the ability to make time and reserve energy for God and His work Give us the desire to long for His return

Ev. Diaz is relieved of his responsibilities as Rector

Include God in our lives and experience His blessings in many little things we do in His name This will increase our faith and wisdom to discern between good and evil. Then we shall serve and praise Him through songs, bringing offerings/sacrifices and listening to His word that takes us to our eternal salvation. Therefore, let us not be indifferent in attending divine services or act as we please, but always come into His presence with a humble heart. I wish you all much joy and blessings for now and in the future.

A new Rector & two Deacons for Wellington

Ev Bryce Diaz rendered an anthem from the Choir Hymn Collection, no. 246 "Here's my soul." Apostle Williams then read a letter from the Chief Apostle to all the confirmands around the world: “Dear confirmands, I greet you warmly at this important moment of your lives. You stand before the congregation and you are about to give your Confirmation Vow. You thereby make a promise to our great God. May it always remain sacred to you. May the Lord for His part also grant you His blessing. The Bible text for your confirmation also refers to this blessing. It is recorded in Deuteronomy 28:2 where we read: “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” In this text you receive a special key which will guarantee your access to the blessings of God. This key is obedience of faith.

May the blessings of the Lord be with you in school and your job, in the circle of your family and friends, in the congregation and in your interactions with your brothers and sisters. In the Confirmation Vow you will give the promise: "I surrender myself to You" To surrender oneself to the Lord means to entrust oneself completely to His leadership. Please trust in every moment of your lives. This also includes maintaining the solid connection with Him by absorbing His word and through prayer. Let me emphasize once again: "Allow your souls to be lead by the Lord"

PENTECOST 2013

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 24:49 “...BUT TARRY IN THE CITY OF JERUSALEM UNTIL YOU ARE ENDUED WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH.”

Greeting Word for Pentecost: Isaiah 62:11 As of Pentecost Sunday, 19 May 2013, the New Apostolic Church has a new spiritual leader. Jean-Luc Schneider is the new Chief Apostle and successor in ministry to Wilhelm Leber, who retired from ministry on this occasion. It was a special highlight when the new Chief Apostle discharged the previous Chief Apostle from his ministry with the words: “In our hearts you will remain our Chief Apostle!” Chief Apostle Leber had already taken his first step in

this direction in the 2012 Pentecost service in Cologne. It has now been a year since he introduced District Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider as his successor and appointed him Chief Apostle Helper. The latter has now had a year to prepare himself for his new mandate. Since then he has also gradually managed to entrust his previous responsibilities as leader of the District Churches of France and the Congo to others.

THE RETIREMENT...

At the end of the Pentecost service on 19 May 2013, after the celebration of Holy Communion, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber invited his successor to the altar. “You are the rock for all New Apostolic Christians,” said Chief Apostle Leber, recalling the words of the Lord when He spoke to His disciple Peter (Matthew 16: 18): “On this rock I will build my church.” NACI News: Hamburg-Borgfelde.

In attendance were 5 youth and the congregation. The youth were urged not to listen in a superficial manner but have a deeper understanding of their divine calling like King Solomon (cf. 1Kings 3:9) that will lead them from hearing to understanding, then to agreement and then to take consistent action. An example was given when Samuel could not comprehend God’s calling (cf.1Samuel 3:9-11).
