DEAR DELEGATES,

It goes without saying but as the 50th National Conference inches closer we want to thank you for your continued interest and enthusiasm for NAAUC. We truly appreciate it, and are incredibly fortunate to get the opportunity to invigorate and excite you at our jubilee year!

From our simple beginnings as a group of students meeting in 1968 in Canberra, NAAUC has strived to change the face of the collegiate industry through four key principles; that our greatest opportunity to better ourselves and our community comes from the collaboration with others, challenging our perceptions is what allows us to grow together, continued learning equates to greater understanding and wider diversity, and that leadership shows itself in a variety of different ways. As a result NAAUC and all those we represent have always been at the forefront of positive social and cultural change.

This year marks our 50th year and our final winter conference, with the National Conference moving to Summer for the 51st. Though the date of conference might be changing, I want to implore that the passion and enthusiasm both our team and you, the delegates, bring to NAAUC will not change. The conference program has been refined so both our academic and social program are stronger than ever before, so each delegate has both the knowledge and practical skills to make a lasting, positive difference at their community.

I look forward to meeting you all in July, bring on the 50th Conference!

Joshua Carter President

CONFERENCE DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

G’DAY FUTURE LEADERS!

We’re beyond excited to give you all a sneak peak into the machinations and development of National Conference. We’ve been planning for some time already, and it’s definitely a mighty beast.

Aside from stepping up our caffeine consumption, we’ve spent many late nights drafting academic sessions and brainstorming event ideas. We’re at least several draft schedules in, with our content constantly evolving.

A recurring theme you will come across is “sustained positive change”. This idea derives from our celebration of 50 years as an organisation. We want to reflect on our past, encompassing the unwavering integrity of those leaders who have come before us. We also want it to serve as a call to action, inspiring us to think critically and redefine what the next 50 years will look like. Having the ambition and passion to be innovative is a core value at NAAUC and we hope it can become yours as well, to the benefit of our respective communities.

Our masterpiece social program is coming along well, with only a final coat of paint left to go. While visiting venues and sampling the food and drink packages is always tough, we’ve managed to secure some truly unique and (dare we say) undiscovered locations. We’ve also enlisted the help of some A-grade star power so we can guarantee a stellar time. Just thinking about it has us amped. Keep an eye out for more to come, we’ve still got plenty of aces up our sleeve.
