Kenneth A. Freeland, Jr. Obituary

Kenneth A. Freeland, Jr 69, affectionately known as “Kenny”, passed away peacefully at his home in Williamstown, NJ on Thursday, March 21, 2024. He was born on March 24, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Kenneth A, Freeland, Sr. and Josefina (Framil) Freeland.

Kenny was educated in Philadelphia, where he attended St Edwards Catholic School. His family eventually moved to Williamstown NJ, where he would attend Williamstown High School. After high school, Kenny worked as an automotive body repairman at several local body shops throughout South Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. He took pride in his work and his hands were always in motion, he loved to tinker. He was an engineer at heart as he loved to fix everything and anything. If you asked Kenny, “How are you doing? He would always reply, “handlin’ it”... and yes he was.

Kenny was a #1 Eagles’ fan. He never missed a game; on Sundays you could hear him from afar cheering them on. He was also a car enthusiast and loved working on them. At nights and on weekends, if he wasn’t working on cars, he would be making house calls to cut the hairs of his friends and the young men in his family.

At an early age, Kenny gave his life to Christ Jesus. While attending St Edwards Catholic Church/School he served as an Altar Boy. He rededicated himself to the Lord during his last six months of life, reading scriptures daily and discussing them with his friends and family members brought him joy.

Kenny is survived by his longtime life partner, Paulette Pitt, his two Sisters; Yolanda Stinson (David) and Loretta Winters (Sonny) and his brother, Henri Freeland (Vivian), his three children; Cameron Robinson, Shalya Butler-Freeland and Christian Freeland, His grandchildren; Malik Batchelor, Mi’Angel Batchelor, Caez Robinson, Shemar Mitchell, Cameron G. Robinson, and a plethora of nieces and nephews. He loved his family, and they loved him more. He touched each one deeply and will be sorely missed.

To my Daughter, Shayla Butler-Freeland

Right now I’m in a different place

And though we seem apart I’m closer than I ever was, I’m there inside your heart.

I’m with you when you greet each day

And while the sun shines bright I’m there to share the sunsets, too I’m with you every night.

I’m with you when the times are good To share a laugh or two, And if a tear should start to fall I’ll still be there for you.

And when that day arrives

That we no longer are apart, I’ll smile and hold you close to me, Forever in my heart.

Family Tree

“A limb has fallen from the family tree

I hear a voice that whispers, 'Grieve not for me'

Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs

The good I lived while I was strong

Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you

Keep on smiling, the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest

Remembering all…how I was truly blessed

Continue traditions, no matter how small

Go on with your lives, don't stare at the wall

I miss you all dearly so keep up your chin

Until that fine day we're together again.”

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me

And I’m not here to see

If the sun should rise and find your eyes

All filled with tears for me

I wish you wouldn’t cry

The way you did today

While thinking of the many things We did not get to say

I know how much you love me

As much as I love you

Each time that you think of me I know you will miss me too

When tomorrow starts without me

Please try to understand

That an angel came and called my name

And took me by the hand

The angel said my place was ready

In heaven far above

And that I would have to leave behind

All those I dearly love

But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates

I felt so much at home

When God looked down and smiled at me

From his golden throne

He said this is eternity

And all I promised you

Today for life on earth is done

But here it starts a new

I promise no tomorrow

For today will always last

And since each day’s the exact same way

There is no longing for the past

So when tomorrow starts without me

Do not think we’re apart

For every time you think of me

Remember I’m right here in your heart.

Old Testament Reading

Isaiah 26:8-9

The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people's disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and He saved us.

New Testament Reading

John 11:25

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection in the life. Anyone who believes in me will live They die, yet he shall live. “

Acknowledgement

“Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers, that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much for whatever part.”

“We deeply appreciate your kind expression of sympathy in our time of great sorrow.

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.”…..
