Scott Denton is a familiar sight around Wokingham – in his wheelchair wearing a policeman’s uniform. He cheers up everyone he meets, and he and his family are looking forward to Christmas.

From a young age Scott was a fan of the police and when he got his first police jacket, his dad Darren thought it was just a phase he would grow out ue our mission of bringing quality journalism to the Borough of Wokingham. Your stories of resilience, kindness, and community spirit have not only inspired us but also reinforced that the Borough of Wokingham is indeed a re- markable place to live. of. “He got a jacket to be like them and then it just spiralled. Everyone in the area knows him though.”

May this Christmas fill your homes with joy, your hearts with love, and your life with laughter.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays from all of us at My Wokingham.

He added that the local police are amazing with him, inviting him to their annual open day. “He’s almost become a bit of a celebrity and is an honorary policeman,” said Darren. Scott is profoundly deaf and is unable to walk, requiring day-to-day care. Continues on pg 13

All unused copies of My Wokingham are recycled by Woodside Recycling.

My Wokingham is a member of the Love Paper global campaign promoting the sustainable and attractive attributes of print, paper and paper packaging. Our newspaper is printed on recycled paper which will be recycled again into new products. In fact 74% of paper and 83% of paper packaging is recycled into new products; one of the highest recycling rates of any material in Europe.

Run by not-for-profit organisation, Two Sides, the campaign seeks to tell consumers across the world all the positive stories about paper, print and paper packaging from its environmental credentials to its ability to improve mental wellbeing, learning and enhance creativity.

Even in today’s digital world, paper remains unique in its ability to touch our lives. Paper is renewable, recyclable and the natural support of new ideas and creativity.
