This Easter, the Caped Crusader comes up against battle bots as Bricks 4 Kidz celebrates the launch of The Lego Batman Movie. At Bricks 4 Kidz, children learn key STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) concepts while having the ultimate Lego experience.

Robotics tuition from junior to advanced level will excite and inspire young tech-heads. Junior robotics students will learn to write programs with WeDo software to control and operate the unique models they build.

Advanced robotics students will learn the principles of robotics and programming using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 system.

And how cool is this – students will use sensors and motors to design and program a battle bot that will compete in a sumo-style competition to find the champion robot. Workshops run from 9am to 4pm with children rotating through the various Lego activities.

GET SOME AVIATION ACTION AT QLD AIR MUSEUM There’s plenty happening at Queensland Air Museum in the lead-up to the Engines Alive Day on Saturday April 8. A team of dedicated volunteers has been working for almost a year to reconstruct the massive Lockheed Neptune and it is now nearing completion. There’s lots of changes in Hangar Two in preparation for the installation of the Ventura undercover and the Mirage Jet now has a cutaway radar system for viewing.

If you’ve never visited the Queensland Air Museum, you don’t know what you’re missing.

It’s especially fun to take kids along to see the huge planes up close and hear their engines roar – there’s nothing else quite like it on the Coast.

The Engines Alive Day promises to be bigger and better than ever, with all of the usual attractions – engine runs at 11am and 1pm, there are WWII jeep rides, a free jumping castle, coffee and food. Jazz and blues band Girl Friday will perform from 10am to 2.30pm.

HAVE A BALL AT SUNCITY TENPIN BOWLING Tenpin bowling is a social way to have fun with the family, and the good news is it is great exercise.

Better than a gym workout, tenpin bowling is a great cardio exercise, and includes weight lifting, stretching and walking – the average bowler walks a whole kilometre in a typical three-game series. When you bowl, your body and arms receive weight-based training, while the repeated bending, swinging, flexing and stretching will tone up your muscles.

Gripping the ball will strengthen your hand. Bowling requires co-ordination, of feet and hands, as well as hand-eye co-ordination. These are skills that the growing child will require as they mature.

Another advantage of tenpin bowling is that it can be played by a wide range of ages, and is a lifetime sport. There is a low risk of injury, which makes it a suitable, safe game for children.

But it is in the social area that bowling really excels. Because of the nature of the game, there is ample opportunity for social interaction.

While competing or waiting for their turn, children can chat to their team members and their opposition. It’s a fantastic way for children to make new friends. And because everyone gets a turn, all children feel included.

DISCOVER THE MYSTERIES OF THE DEEP SEA From the wonderful living fossils to the turtle hatchlings making their way into the world, Sea Life Sunshine Coast offers families an extraordinary range of enthralling marine encounters.

Delve deep into the prehistoric past and discover the origins of life through the aquarium’s Jurassic Seas exhibit, showcasing marine creatures that outlived the dinosaurs.

The Easter Bunny’s Apprentice is an interactive theatre show happening at Caloundra RSL these holidays on Sunday April 9 and Easter Sunday, April 16 at 4pm.

It’s a fun show about a rat whose jealousy over the Easter Bunny leads him to doing some pretty naughty things.

This play is interactive and the children will be actively involved in the performance from start to finish. Whether

it’s learning special sayings to shouting out to help the Easter Bunny, volunteering to go up on stage to hide an Easter egg, solving the Easter egg clues or meeting the characters after the play, the kids are encouraged to get involved. The play runs for 35 to 40 minutes and is aimed at children aged three to 10. The characters will stay for photographs after the show – a great thrill for the little ones.
