YOUNG LOVE & SATURDAY NIGHTS

CHRIS YOUNG

Chris Young is a study in contrasts and dualities. He’s a country traditionalist, but he’s equally fond of pushing boundaries. He’s an old soul with songs that express deep wisdom as well as youthful rambunctiousness. He’s got a mind for the music business and one of the nimblest voices in Nashville. Somehow, he makes it all look effortless.

he Tennessee native, with 13 Number Ones and more than two dozen R.I.A.A. certifications, is reveling in those extreme contrasts of his artistry. The result is Young Love & Saturday Nights , a bold statement that he’s one of the most versatile and durable talents of his era.

At 18 songs, it’s his most ambitious release yet. Instead of chasing trends, Young turns things up — emotionally, sonically, stylistically. The ballads hit harder, the rowdy tunes are more raucous, and the anthems hit new highs. “This is what this album felt like it needed to be for me,” he says. “It’s a little louder, a little more raw. Even the stripped-down songs are heavier.”

The title track flips the iconic guitar riff from David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel” into something new — a story of wide-eyed love and freedom about a young woman who “loves his southern drawl from north of Atlanta,” that maintains the spirit of the original. Written by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, and Josh Thompson with Bowie getting a posthumous credit for the riff, it showed up in Young’s listening session with zero explanation.

“The minute it started, I’m like, ‘Are they playing me “Rebel Rebel” right now? That’s weird,’” Young recalls. “Then I realized it was an entirely new song.”

Young explores different phases of relationships throughout the album. Some of them, like “Million Miles,” are about painful memories, while “What She Sees in Me” is, in Young’s words, “like a first dance at a wedding song.” Others, like “Right Now,” find complicated spots somewhere between. The closing song “Down,” which surges with Springsteen-like intensity,

looks back in gratitude for a relationship that burned bright while it lasted. “It’s like, ‘Hey we knew this wasn’t going to last, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing while it did,’” he says.

Young Love & Saturday Nights pably demonstrates Young’s confidence as a producer. He’s inhabited the role in various ways since he and Corey Crowder recorded 2015’s I’m Comin’ Over knowing if the label would even like it. “It ended up blowing up and being one of the biggest records I’ve ever done,” he says. It’s a little-known fact that Young is quite the studio geek with specific, hands-on opinions on how he wants his records to sound.

That level of focus and attention to detail can’t be overlooked in Young’s career longevity. He has seen numerous trends come and go, all of which he has navigat ed without losing sight of what makes him unique. He says it’s key to be aware of what’s happening, but not let it dictate decisions. “I want to have my music heard and I’m going to stick around until as many people as possible get a chance to hear and experience it.”

It’s a savvy balance of understanding the marketplace as well as being able to trust one’s gut. It’s the kind of thing Young has shown he can do ex tremely well, although having an abundance of dogged determina tion doesn’t hurt either. Thankfully, Young has both things going for him.

“The business has changed many times over the course of my career,

Chase

McDaniel

BLAME IT ALL ON COUNTRY MUSIC

Eminem + AC/DC + Josh Turner = X seems like an impossible algebra equation, let alone the square root of a record called Blame It All On Country Music. Yet for Chase McDaniel, it’s the common denominator for an ascending career that exploded with the heartfelt “Your Daughter,” a wrenching ballad to the father whose treatment of a female child left the young woman unable to trust or believe love is a good thing.

McDaniel, ebony tangle of curls and wide shoulders, is the perfect next wave Country heartthrob. Strong, raised in the hardscrabble small town of Greensberg, Kentucky, his heroism and vulnerability comes from having not –and holding on. Down to his last $12, having called home to ask his grandmother if she had a bed because his Country music dream wasn’t coming true, a friend appeared in that exact moment. The smokyvoiced songwriter, still awestruck recalls, “He found me mid-call, fighting through the tears and intervened. I told mamaw I’d call her back and asked him what was going on. He asked, ‘You applying for jobs?’ I said, ‘Everything I can find.’ I’d been living on week old bread and deli turkey… and he’s like, ‘You keep applying. I’ve just had the best year of my life and I want

to help.’ He insisted on giving me some money, and that act of kindness and belief in me changed the course of my life.”

When he finally got a call back from the Ainsworth about his application, that conversation went: “What do you want to do?” “Anything.”“How many hours can you work?” “All of them.”

That determination forged songs like the Sam Hunt-evoking bad-for-him-lover-addiction “Relapse,” the percussive/electric guitar swerving warning to interested women “Project,” and the need to be honest about faults, failures and anxieties to empower others “Somebody Like Me.” In a party hearty, toss’em back Country music world, McDaniels has dropped a different tailgate. Inviting others to express their pain and identify with growing up in a single wide, while understanding that it’s all okay, he’s created a safe space for people flummoxed by an Instagram faux-reality they can’t have.

“When you grow up in poverty and addiction in these poor towns people don’t see, it’s hard to understand what those people are going through. I was a first-hand witness. Now I want to communicate what I didn’t know how to talk about,” the grandson of a Country-Gospel preacher explains. “Maybe there was a responsibility to make music for that little kid inside me, what he needed to hear, and all the little kids like me who need it too.”

Not every song is wrenching or dire. “Blame It All On Country Music” is an anthemic stacked vocal celebration of the good times the genre contains. A memoir in song, it defines one man finding life, rowdy good times and a reason to get down.

“It’s Rock attitude with Country story-telling and Pop tendencies and flow,” he says of the hybrid vigor infused in his songs. “I grew up with Gospel Bluegrass. I didn’t know anything else until high school, except my mom’s one Eminem CD. Oh, and an AC/DC CD I traded a pack of cards for in 4th grade, because Rock & Roll was forbidden.”

Like a bite of the apple, once McDaniel tasted the music, it became part of his soul. That it took going to the brink, looking down and almost turning around only makes what’s happening now sweeter.

“Maybe I’m stubborn or just had my headphones in every time the universe told me to give up, but for whatever reason, I wasn’t listening. Those moments of hope came in loud and clear though—I’m sure glad they did.”

Listen to Chase McDaniel’s new record on all streaming platforms.

Regardless of what your pampering of choice is, remember to always follow a skincare routine at home to encourage and maintain healthy, hydrated young looking skin. Keep it simple with the basic three, cleansing, toning and moisturizing. (Don’t forget to hydrate as well to rid the body of toxins and encourage a radiant glow!) Skin care doesn’t have to be expensive either! I’m into natural and clean skincare and after a visit to my holistic esthetician I learned that Honey was a great replacement for expensive face washes! What a treat! It feels like a spa every time I use it and my skin is beyond soft! In fact honey is not only super

nourishing and hydrating but it’s also full of probiotics, is antibacterial and incredibly healing. I use an organic raw honey that has a bit of honeycomb in it, great for exfoliation! I also use a home made toner of essential oil of Frankincense and distilled water. Frankincense has been used for centuries on the skin and is hailed as a powerful anti-aging essential oil. It is said to slow signs of aging amongst many other things. It’s been amazing for me. Lastly, I swear my castor Oil on my face and body. It does not clog pores and it’s a packed with much needed essential fatty acids our skin needs and penetrates deeply hydrating the skin like nothing I have ever tried before! One little secret to remember when using castor oil is that less is more! Also, be sure to massage it into your skin in a circular motion. Trust me, your skin will glow! (I also mix in various essential oils depending on what I feel my skin is in need of at the time. Lavender, rose, orange, clary sage, frankincense, ginger etc.) Feel free to experiment and see what works best for you!

**The most amazing and purest essential oils I’ve discovered and used personally (Also used in top notch spa’s around the world) are by world renowned artisan Trygvè Harris and founder of Enfleurage. Enfleurage is New York’s first and only store specializing in essential oils and incense from all around the planet. ZakkiyyahSalaam

iamond VIP is a Mastermind group and a think tank that was birthed from necessity during the COVID-19 lockdown. It all began as a simple community share program along with support in Las Vegas & Nashville areas. It has now blossomed into a vibrant community of leaders with a national as well as international presence. We are now celebrating our Ladies of Diamond VIP through Health & Wellness. Introducing our member Zakkiyyah Salaam, also known as EmergenZ, as she orchestrates an enthralling live podcast show called UCSalaam which stands for Uncomfortable Conversations. Faith & energy in focus is what’s needed in her busy day to day life? She juggles this along with her job as NFL Alumni Vegas Chapter Director of Community Affairs. Her fearless energy is matched with the instant natural boost that she receives with it’s powerful glutathione blend.

Life has a way of taking it’s toll on women with a high level work load. Oxidative stress is reduced as she simply swishes daily for that extra edge that she needs. It’s an instant boost of natural organic energy. Neumi’s Hydrostat Nano formulation gives her the extra push that she needs. To try this wonderful product & to see for yourself. You can simply go to www.diamondvippromotions.com or text 502-235-0617.

Through her hostess persona, EmergenZ, Zakkiyyah lovingly refers to her followers and listeners as butterfly, symbolizing the transformative journey each individual undertakes. “Fear is the soil needed for change,” she muses, acknowledging the profound growth that arises from uncomfortable discussions, which she nourishes with light and water, steering communities towards resilience and inclusion.

Zakkiyyah’s journey wasn’t without its hurdles, having started motherhood at 16 and enduring a turbulent 13-year marriage. Yet, it was her commitment to self-love that led her on a path of empowerment. Relocating to Las Vegas postdivorce, she embraced her authentic self and birthed ‘Uncomfortable Conversations.’

Simultaneously, Zakkiyyah pursued an MBA in Organizational Leadership, further supporting her growing passion for community and inclusivity. Her strategic expertise in program development and fundraising now seamlessly weaves her personal journey into a larger narrative of societal resilience and understanding.

In an era craving authenticity and genuine connection, Zakkiyyah Salaam stands tall, paving the way for a more empathetic and conscious society. Women’s needs are drastically changing & Neumi stands with you every step of the way.

REVITALIZING YOUR HOME: MEET BRAD ASHBY, THE LEADER OF 360 PAINTING

Brad Ashby is the owner of 360 Painting, a home improvement company located in the Greater Nashville area that specializes in interior/exterior painting of residences and commercial properties, alike.

Despite his extensive experience in the hardware industry, Brad Ashby initially had no desire to get into painting and home improvement. Actually, he had spent 18 years traveling, doing sports broadcasting prior to owning 360 Painting. Inspired by the thought of having a business to pass on to his 13-, 11-, and 8-year-olds, and coupled with his knowledge of the industry, Brad finally decided that it would be a great investment. Presently, 360 Painting of Greater Nashville is a leader in their industry, but what differentiates them from others is they’re not limited to painting. They offer services such as pressure washing, wood repairs/carpentry, surface protection and cleanup. They’ve even done parking lot striping, as well.

360 Painting of Greater Nashville has clients that range from residential, to commercial, to municipal. They service some of the local universities, a preschool and some of the government buildings that you may have passed while traveling in the Greater Nashville Area.

Aside from being able to build several relationships in the past year that allowed him to expand into the commercial market, building a company that people can trust is what Brad considers

to be his greatest professional achievement. He mentions his many 5-star reviews glowingly, but does so in a way that reads as more humble than braggadocious. Ironically, one of his greatest achievements (the growth of his company) has been one of his biggest challenges, as often proves true with business. For example, when you complete residential service, you get paid that day. When you do commercial work, you may have to wait 60 to 90 days to get paid for the work you do. Lingering invoices notwithstanding, the driving force behind the philosophy of 360 Painting is a true love of craftsmanship, quality work, and excellent service, not just turning a quick buck.

With this in mind, Brad Ashby has some words of wisdom for our readers regarding how to choose the right provider. “Vet a company first”, instructs Ashby. “Do your research”. Next, Brad states that people want a sense of confidence in their service provider, but most people make decisions based on price, and that may be counterintuitive to the objective. Simply put, the cheapest bid isn’t always the best bid. When it comes to your home, you want good quality work that lives with you, not work that you just have to live with.

Brad Ashby and 360 Painting of Greater Nashville can be found online at https:// www.360painting.com/greater-nashville.

On their website, there is a form that you can fill out to request a quote. For MyNashville readers only, Brad graciously agreed to publish his direct line: 615-717-4360, so you can speak with him personally.

We recognize Brad Ashby as being a leader in his industry, and salute him for continuing to help the residents of the community.

H2O Water Biz, featured on Fox & Friends, is owned, and operated by Dennis Bynum. They are the area’s leading provider of whole house water filtration systems. With over 45 years of industry experience, our commercially proven products offer guaranteed performance and unmatched value.

This whole house water system filters your water to bring cleaner water to every tap in your home. This means you’re able to access filtered water throughout your house when you wash the dishes, make coffee, take a shower, do laundry, and brush your teeth.

You may be wondering, what's the difference between a DIY water filter and this whole house system?

A whole house water filtration system is a comprehensive water filter that also conditions the water to prevent hard water scale without the need for salt. It changes the chemical structure of the minerals to stop them from forming scale inside your pipes and on your fixtures.

WHO IS H2O WATER BIZ?

You will get spring-quality alkaline water from every faucet. No salt or potassium, retains naturally healthy minerals in your water, virtually maintenance free, no filters AND reduces hard water scale.

A water softener may remove the minerals from the water you are drinking, but you will still be cooking and bathing in contaminants and chemicals like bacteria, chlorine by-products and heavy metals.

Our whole-house system treats water at its point of entry into the household. Water entering your home goes through a pre-filter, removes large sediment then the water is filtered for chlorine and chemicals which can also affect your home’s air quality. Water then goes through activated carbon which removes pesticides, copper, and herbicides. The water then enters a polishing filtration which removes any remaining particles. This is leading technology called Vortechtm Plate Technology!

This system improves lift and mixing action created by Vortechtm plates which provide shorter backwashing requirements. It uses less water than a salt system and is septic tank and environmentally safe.

You may wonder what exactly makes water hard? According to the United States Geology Survey, water hardness is based on major ion chemistry concentrations. More specifically, the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water determines its hardness level. The higher of the volume of these two minerals, the harder the water. You may look up your area by going to https://www.ewg.org/ tapwater/ and you will be able to see the levels of water in your community.

Have you noticed any signs of dry, flaky, or itchy skin? Sebaceous glands produce and distribute a natural oil called sebum, which acts as your skin’s protective barrier against dryness. Washing with hard water creates clogged pores and then causes acne, creates atopic eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and other skin issues.

We have the best priced water systems around. Each tank size and valve option are custom designed to meet your personal needs and water challenges in your geographical area. We use GoGreen Best Price Water Systems, and we offer FREE ESTIMATES and up to 20-year warranty! We accept all forms of major credit cards, check and cash. We also offer financing with the option of paying only $68/month.

Please visit our website at www. h2owaterbiz.com to read more about the benefits and services we offer. This is an investment in your overall well-being and your home.

5 WAYS TO GET AND KEEP YOUR HOME ORGANIZED

Being a wife, mom, and a business professional who works crazy hours, it can seem impossible to keep up with staying clean and organized. However, I have found these tips and tricks help me stay on top of things throughout the week!

1Use an app to keep track of your grocery shopping list. I personally use an app called “Out of Milk.” It tracks my shopping trends, coupons at my local stores, and the best part is my husband and kids also downloaded the app and we can all update the shopping list in real time. This way we never have to double back to the store (it’s a real time and money saver).

2Take 15 mins out every night to clean the following. Do the dishes after dinner, vacuum and sweep (I have a dog so vacuuming needs to be done daily in my house) if you don’t have pets you can do every 3 days or so. And take out the trash. This keeps my home tidy during the week and allows me to just do the detailed cleaning on the weekends!

3Make sure to clean your bathrooms weekly. I always keep separate cleaning products directly in the bathroom under the sink, this way they are right there when I need them. Wipe down the sink and fixtures, clean the toilet itself (gross, I know sorry, I hate this part) then clean the shower and don’t forget to clean the shower doors or shower curtain! Next sweep and mop the flooring.

4Laundry also should be done weekly. My laundry is usually done on Friday nights. I don’t know about you, but folding laundry and hanging it up is my least favorite part. I find watching a good tv show, or my new obsession listening to a good book, helps me get it done in no time. I guess it’s because my mind is somewhere else.

5Don’t forget to donate or throw away unused items once a month! I clean out my pantry once a month and donate any food that isn’t going to be eaten any time soon, same with my families clothes (I have two growing sons) when the jeans and sneakers get to small it goes into the donation pile and gets dropped off once a month. Same for my clothes as well. I’ve lost a ton of weight and keep losing so I am donating all my clothes that are now too big. My rule is if we haven’t used it in a month and don’t think we will be using it next month it gets donated or thrown out! This way we avoid clutter and hoarding.

The main thing to remember is a little mess never hurt anyone, and family time should always come first, we all aren’t perfect. But if you can try this routine or even add in some to-dos of your own it will cut down on your stress immensely and give you more time on the weekends with your family. AND THAT’S WHATS IMPORTANT! MN

Do the dishes after dinner, vacuum and sweep (I have a dog so vacuuming needs to be done daily in my house) if you don’t have pets you can do every 3 days or so.
