During VPC's Capital Campaign we'll take an excerpt from Pastor Joynt's daily devotional. It will be a call to action to listen, pray, or engage with A New Heart for the Valley. You can get your own daily devotional in each worship center or online: Devotional: Reinforced Hearts Why does John, our gospel’s author, tell us that the “doors of the house” where the disciples were meeting “were locked?” Jesus’ ministry was not a closed-door affair. It was conducted almost entirely in public, in the open. He was transparent about his true views, and his teaching in the temple and synagogue, on the hillside, and in the markets was consistent with what he told his inner circle of friends and disciples. He never propagated esoteric truths to an enlightened few. He occasionally healed in private settings, but generally his acts of power were before witnesses. Now his disciples have gone underground, into hiding, out of fear.

Adventures in Lifelong Learning™ Encore University has spent the last five years successfully providing adventures in lifelong learning for hundreds of students and faculty. Much of Encore's success has been due to the diligent and creative work of Encore Director Becky Bennett. Her skill, passion, and dedication to EU is incredible, and her work has touched hundreds of lives over the past five years. As the Spring Term ends, Becky is moving into much deserved retirement. Her departure, combined with planned campus renovations, means VPC will be unable to provide a slate of Encore classes in the fall. Instead, an abbreviated version of Encore, which will involve a breakfast speakers series, will be offered in the winter and spring of 2019. We plan to invite world-class speakers and authors, with opportunities to study the speaker's works together in advance of these exciting events. Stay tuned! -Pastor Kelly Nieto & Elder Jim Gabler
