Mystic Seaport Museum is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, free from threatening, insulting, or harassing behavior or language.

CHARTING OUR COURSE

At Mystic Seaport Museum, we are custodians of our nation’s maritime culture. We convey the learnings of the past to inspire the present and advance the future. America’s relationship with the sea has changed dramatically during our almost century of museum stewardship. Our traditional role in preserving and showcasing our nation’s maritime history has evolved. Today we participate in many new conversations and initiatives relating to the ocean, from the impact of rising sea levels on infrastructure to the reinvention of the traditional skills of ship craft and ship trades. Maintaining relevance is a challenge for any museum. Only by leveraging our combined intellect and experience will we ensure we fulfill a meaningful role in American society, connect with new audiences, and continue to thrive into our second century and beyond. As we approach our centennial, we are reflecting on our role and using this occasion to chart our future course.
