South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society presents “AI & Genealogy: Trouble Ahead,” presented virtually by Thomas MacEntee South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society meets Sat., March 8 at 10 am at the Martin J. Kauchak Public Safety Center, 3000 W. 170th Place, Hazel Crest, IL 60429. Members will gather for a watch party to view “AI & Genealogy: Trouble Ahead,” presented virtually by Thomas MacEntee While AI (artificial intelligence) might be the current “hot” buzz word, the fact is that many genealogy vendors and even genealogists have already been using this technology for years. The AI industry is at a crossroads and within the next five years, it will permeate almost every aspect of business and society. Attendees will learn how AI is currently being used to improve the genealogy experience, and whether or not one should seek out other uses of artificial intelligence for their own family history research. Thomas MacEntee, a Chicago resident, “fell” into the technology industry almost 40 years ago, and then left a lucrative career in information technology to pursue his love of family history and genealogy. His passion for

tracing his roots began more than 45 years ago when he was watching the mini-series Roots on ABC Television at his great-grandparents’ house in February 1977. He has presented locally and internationally. Thomas will present virtually, and SSGHS welcomes the public to a free watch party. The Power of Inspiration, Impact, and Intensity in Achieving Success

by Janice R Newman Success does not happen by accident. It is fueled by motivation, determination, and a positive mindset that you can accomplish what you set out to achieve. Three powerful “I” words that play a major role in increasing motivation and harnessing success are inspiration, impact, and intensity. Each of these words can push a person forward, helping them reach their goals and fulfill their purpose in life. By understanding how these words work together, anyone can develop a stronger drive to succeed and reach the finish line. Inspiration is the spark that ignites you to action and the force that awakens your dreams and fuels your motivation. It is the reason we get into action! Inspiration gives you an emotional connection to your purpose. Inspiration can come from anywherepeople of the bible, famous people, witnessing acts of kindness, charitable endeavors, or even a simple encouraging word from a friend. For example, teachers inspire their students to excel daily. You can be inspired to work against homelessness and hunger. The Bible inspires us with Philippians 4:13, which says, “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” This verse shows how God’s Word can inspire and guide people in their purpose. While inspiration starts with action, impact makes a difference in the world. You might have heard someone say, “I want to make an impact in lives”. The impact is the effect of actions, decisions, or words on others and oneself. When people pursue their goals with purpose, they not only achieve success for themselves but also influence others along the way. If you make an impact, it can inspire others to do the same. For instance, a coach encourages team members to do their best, which impacts their confidence and performance. An employer that demonstrates respect and kindness can make an impact on the staff to reciprocate. Even small acts, like helping a neighbor or volunteering, can have a lasting impact on someone’s life. It is important to remember that true success is
not just about personal gain but also about making a positive impact on others, uplifting and inspiring people around you. To truly achieve success, one must approach goals with intensity. Intensity means putting in strong effort, focus, and determination. It requires passion and dedication, even when you feel like giving up. For example, athletes show intensity by training, practicing for hours, and they never give up. Musicians and comedians demonstrate intensity by spending years perfecting their skills in their pursuit of success. The Bible also encourages intensity and perseverance. Colossians 3:23 states, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” We are called to give our best effort, then great things can be achieved. Intensity ensures that the fire in inspiration is not extinguished, but a burning desire to action. When we bring it all together: inspiration, impact, and intensity create a powerful team for success. Inspiration lights the fire, impact ensures a meaningful journey, and intensity keeps the momentum going. These three words can motivate you to greatness and to become unstoppable in your pursuit of success and happiness. The best way to achieve a goal is to discover and pursue what truly inspires you. Inspiration will help you strive towards making a positive impact on your life and others. Lastly, pursue your dreams with intense dedication by not stopping until you have achieved what you desire.
