LARC Announces Craft Beer-Tasting Fundraising Event LARC, a not-for-profit organization providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has organized its first-ever craft beer fundraiser. The event is being held on Saturday, May 13, from 2 PM to 4 PM, and is being hosted at 313 Taproom, located at 313 Ridge Road in Munster.

The event will feature 33 self-tapping varieties of IPAs, ales, stouts, lagers, ciders, and even two varieties of wine. Snacks and hot appetizers will be offered, and they will feature a few silent auction items and a 50/50 raffle.

Because of limited seating, advance-paid reservations are required. Tickets are $30 per person. Reservations can accommodate parties of two or four at high-top or low-top tables, and there are a handful of bar stools. Behind the bar is a

good selection of spirits, which are sold separately.

Register via credit card at www.larclansing.com. Those unable to attend can still support LARC with a donation, or sponsor their food and beverage costs. Others might consider purchasing a $25 gift card to use later or give to a friend. All these options are available on their registration page.

IWPA (Illinois Woman’s Press Association) Spring Writer’s Workshop Event The Illinois Woman’s Press Association (IWPA) will be hosting the Spring Writer’s Workshop on April 29th, between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the South Holland Public Library at 16250 Wausau Avenue, South Holland, IL. The live event will feature educational programming with four expert speakers on an array of professional topics, with Q & A following each session.

The presentation will be followed by readings of published or in-progress work from four attendees, in 5-minute increments.

There will be mingling and discussions afterwards.

The speakers for the event are Carrie Steinweg, Freelance 101; Theresa Knipe, Transitioning Writing from High School to College; Janice Newman, Social Media; and Janis Johnston, Blog Writing and Book Publishing.

The event is completely free and registration is not required.

Attendees are invited to bring a copy of their published work if they want to share, display, or discuss during the mingling and discussion time. A table will be provided for attendees to display

their books (but not for sale) or other professional collateral.

Light snacks and beverages will be provided. Parking and entry to the library are located at the back of the building.

The Illinois Woman’s Press Association was founded in 1885 and is believed to be the oldest continuous woman’s organization in Chicago. It was created by a group of women who saw a need to provide communication and support between women writers. The organization has since open membership to every walk of life, as it’s not just for women anymore. They focus on supporting writers with education, opportunities, encouragement, recognition, and unity in various aspects of writing. IWPA’s Communicator of the Year Award for 2023 is Marlene Cook, who has been a journalist for over 50 years and local resident of Lansing, IL. She is the oldest member of the IWPA and serves as Secretary of the organization. She will open the workshop event with a brief message to inspire present and future writers. www.iwpa.org

Indiana: Be Alert for Post-Disaster Fraud fter disasters, con-artists and criminals may try to get money or steal personal information through fraud or identity theft.

In some cases, thieves try to apply for FEMA assistance using names, addresses and Social Security numbers they have stolen from survivors. Indiana residents recovering from the March 31 – April 1, 2023, severe storms and tornadoes need to pay attention for these risks and protect themselves.

Fraudulent Applications If a FEMA inspector comes to your home and you did not submit a FEMA application, your information may have been used without your knowledge to create a FEMA application. If this happens, inform the inspector that you did not apply for FEMA assistance, so they can submit a request to stop further processing of the application.

If you did not apply for assistance but receive a letter from FEMA, please call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The Helpline will submit a request to stop any further processing of that application.

If you wish to apply for FEMA assistance after stopping an application made in your name without your knowledge, the FEMA Helpline will assist you in creating a new application.

Other Disaster-Related Scams FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams, housing inspectors and other officials will be working in areas impacted by the March 31 – April 1, 2023, severe storms and tornadoes. They have official identification badges with photo IDs. FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration representatives never charge applicants for disaster assistance, inspections or help in filling out applications.

Don’t believe anyone who promises a disaster grant in return for payment.

Be careful of unexpected phone calls or visits to your home from people claiming to be FEMA housing inspectors or people claiming they work for FEMA. FEMA inspectors will have your FEMA application number.

Don’t give your banking information to a person claiming to be a FEMA housing inspector. FEMA inspectors are never authorized to collect your personal financial information.

Take Action If you believe you are the victim of a scam, report it immediately to your local police or sheriff’s department. Consumers may also report charity or disaster scams to the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of Indiana Attorney General online at indianaconsumer.com.

Use It or Lose It

by Janice R Newman Generally, the phrase “use it or lose it” means that if you do not use a particular talent, skill, or ability, you may lose it over time. Whether it is physical, mental, or cognitive ability, professional skills, or creative talents used if you don’t practice, utilize, or maintain a talent you will become less proficient at it or forget how to do it altogether. If you lose the talent or ability, you may not be able to relearn it or gain it back. It becomes dormant over time, then, you lose it.

We are all given various talents and abilities by God for a reason, and it is our responsibility to use them to glorify Him. When we use our talents and abilities to please God, we are fulfilling our purpose and contributing to the greater good of humanity.

God wants us to value, use, and increase our talents and abilities, or He would not have given them to us.

Jesus teaches in the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30 (NKJV), about a traveling man, who delivers his goods and wealth to three servants with a different number of talents: “One he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each accordingly to his own ability; and immediately went on a journey” (25:15). Talents were a form of money; it also means our talents and abilities that God bestowed us. The assumption was they would produce an increase in the talents He gave, while He was gone.

Jesus continues that when the Lord returned to settle the accounts, the servants with five and two talents doubled them. He rewarded them and said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’ (25:21). However, the one with one talent “…was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground” (25:25). He reaped no increase or fruit of labor. The Lord was displeased and said he was wicked and lazy because he could have at least received interest. Something beats nothing! Because he

did nothing with his talent, it was taken away, and he lost it!

The parable teaches us that God has given each person unique talents, abilities, or skills and that we are responsible for using them to the best of our abilities. We should not waste our talents and abilities, but instead, use them to serve God and others. We should invest our talents to multiply them and achieve greater success.

Three ways you can apply this: • Identifying your talents and abilities.

Make a list. Not everyone may have a clear sense of what their talents are or may not have had the opportunity to develop them fully.

They are often closely tied to our passions and purpose in life, and using them can bring a sense of fulfillment, satisfaction, and meaning to our lives.

• Practice and develop your talent and abilities. Look for opportunities to practice your skills and improve your performance through taking on new challenges, in a hobby, or engaging with the community utilizing your talents to benefit others. Continuously learn to hone your talents by attending seminars, workshops, reading, and collaborating with others.

• Utilize your talent and DON’T HIDE THEM. Finding ways to use your talents to fulfill your purpose and serve others, improve their lives, and make a difference in the world. Don’t hide your talent because of fear of failure or success, self-doubt, lack of confidence or opportunities, or negative experiences.

As Christians, we’re called to serve and love others and to use our talents and gifts to help others to build up the Kingdom of God, while giving glory to God. This is also a way of expressing gratitude for the blessings we have been given. When we use our gifts in a way that honors God, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from Him. Y? CATHY & JIM HIGGINS Question: We just recently closed on a home and upon moving in, we discovered a horrible cat urine smell in the master bedroom closet. While trying to resolve the problem, we noticed some stains on the carpet.

I am curious to know if the previous owner and their broker are obligated to disclose pet damage to the area. They were the only owners of the home and up to this point have denied the existence of a cat. Based on the smell and the stains, it appears otherwise. Do we have any recourse?

Answer: When you buy real estate owners have an obligation to disclose material defects -- and buyers have an obligation to protect their interests.

Did you make the sale contingent on a home inspection satisfactory to you? Was the closet somehow off limits? Were the stains purposely hidden? If the odor is now so pronounced, why did you not notice it during the pre-closing walk through or when you originally looked at the home?

RICHARD ZEKVELD Last week, we traveled with two men, grappling with Jesus’ death. Jesus joined them, but they didn’t recognize him. First, he opened their eyes to recognize him from the Scriptures. Then he opened their eyes to recognize him physically.

The two men rushed seven miles back to Jerusalem to tell the disciples. As they shared – poof! Jesus stood among them. They thought he was a ghost.

First, Jesus confirmed that he had risen physically as the flesh-and-blood Jesus. He appealed to their senses. Look at me. Touch me. Watch me eat your leftovers.

He then led them to the Old Testament Scriptures to show how they pointed to him and how it was God’s plan that he suffer, die, and rise again to liberate the nations to live under his rule through the preaching of the gospel. “‘These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures” (Luke 24:44-45, ESV).

Law of Moses, Prophets, Psalms. Jesus appealed to the three core Jewish divisions of the Old Testament in our Bibles. ‘Psalms’ refers to that section called ‘The Writings’.

Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Today, he comes in the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to see and receive him as Savior and Lord in the Scriptures. “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us from God” (1 Corinthians 2:12, ESV).

Ask the Holy Spirit to bring you face to face with the risen Jesus in the Scriptures.

Nooooo… Not Today MIKE BUDER Ok, perhaps I’m being a tad dramatic, but this is a plea to all the anxious home sellers out there: STOP DECLINING SHOWINGS! I have recently been on both sides of this issue, and in both cases the cost of the declined showing outweighed any benefit the seller might have perceived in passing on the appointment. ON THE BUYING SIDE: I had a pre-approved buyer that was motivated to purchase quickly.

I had three homes to show, and gained entry to only one. The evening ended with us in a darkened front yard, in a light rain, wondering why I got a text message canceling the appointment. My buyers were frustrated and wondering out loud if the sellers wanted to sell. ON THE SELLING SIDE: Some sellers today are understandably anxious.

It’s almost Earth Day, when people around the world focus on ways of protecting and preserving the environment. And the lessons from this occasion can be applied to other areas of life — such as investing.

Here are some themes to consider: • Sustainability – From an environmental perspective, sustainability encompasses a range of issues, such as using natural resources wisely. As an investor, you, too, need to protect your resources. So, for example, to sustain a long-term investment strategy, you won’t want to dip into your retirement accounts, such as your IRA and 401(k), to pay for major home or car repairs or other unexpected, costly bills before retirement.

You can help prevent this by building an emergency fund containing several months’ worth of living expenses, with the money kept in a liquid, low-risk account. And once you’re retired, you need to sustain your portfolio so it can help provide income for many years. For that to happen, you’ll need to maintain a withdrawal rate that doesn’t deplete your investments too soon.

•Growth potential – Many people plant trees to celebrate Earth Day, with the hope that, as the trees grow, they’ll contribute to cleaner air. When you invest, you also need growth potential if you’re going to achieve your goals, including a comfortable retirement. So, your portfolio will need a reasonable percentage of growth-oriented vehicles, such as stocks and stock-based mutual funds or exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Yet, you do need to be aware that these investments can lose value, especially during downturns in the financial markets.

You can help reduce the impact of market turbulence on your holdings by also owning other types of investments, such as bonds, government securities and certificates of deposit (CDs). While these investments can also lose value, they are typically less volatile than stocks and stock-based mutual funds

and ETFs. The appropriate percentage of growth and fixed-income investments in your portfolio depends on your risk tolerance, time horizon and long-term objectives.

• Avoidance of “toxins” – At some Earth Day events, you can learn about positive behaviors such as disposing of toxic items safely. And in the investment world, you’ll also want to avoid toxic activities, such as chasing “hot” stocks that aren’t appropriate for your needs, or trading investments so frequently that you run up commissions and taxes or jumping out of the markets altogether when there’s a temporary decline.

• Consolidation – Getting rid of clutter and unnecessary possessions is another lesson some people take away from Earth Day. All of us, when we look around our homes, could probably find many duplicate items — do we really need two blenders or three brooms or five staplers? When you invest, it’s also surprisingly easy to pick up “clutter” in the form of multiple accounts.

You might have an IRA with one financial company and brokerage accounts with two or three others. If you were to consolidate these accounts with one provider, you might reduce correspondence — even if it is online — and possibly even lower the fees you pay. But perhaps more important, by consolidating these accounts at one place, possibly with the guidance of a financial professional who knows your needs and goals, you may find it easier to follow a single, unified investment strategy.

Earth Day only happens once a year — but it may provide lessons for investors that can last a lifetime.

By DANIEL GRANT FarmWeek Buyers of everything from food to farmland could see a return to more normal rates of inflation later this year and into 2024.

The Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI) at the University of Missouri predicted the economic shift recently in its annual U.S. Baseline Outlook report.

“Net farm income is likely to fall back from the record levels of 2022 and consumer food price inflation is also likely to slow in 2023,” said Pat Westhoff, FAPRI director.

Food price increases have slowed in recent months, to 0.4% between January and February, and are projected to rise 4.4% through 2023, according to FAPRI. However, food prices were still up 9.5% in February compared to last year.

Next year, food price inflation could ease to a more normal range around 2%, according to the report.

If realized, a slowdown of food price inflation would be welcome news for consumers who endured a 9.9% hike last year, the highest since 1979.

“Consumer food price inflation jumped to 9.9% (in 2022) as farm commodity prices rose, labor and other costs increased, supply chain problems continued and consumer demand was strong,” the FAPRI report noted.

This year, FAPRI looks for a reduction in crop and livestock prices and a smaller increase in production expenses. Lower prices for some inputs could result in a reduction of production costs by 2024 and 2025.

“What goes up, generally comes back down in the agricultural markets,” Westhoff said.

“Projected prices for most crops, poultry and dairy products all retreat in 2023 from recent

peaks, and so do some production expenses.”

FAPRI’s baseline estimates suggest crop prices could fall from averages in 2022-23 of $6.69 per bushel for corn, $14.23 for soybeans and $9.08 for wheat to $5.32, $12.17 and $7.39 in 2023-24 and down to $4.84, $11.82 and $6.60, respectively, by 2024-25.

Of course, the price estimates are based on expectations of increased ag output.

“If weather conditions allow crop yields to return to trend-line levels in 2023, prices for corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton and many other crops are likely to fall,” FAPRI noted.

Over the next 10 years, average nominal crop prices could be much lower than they have been in 2022-23, but remain above the average of 2017-18 and 2021-22, according to the report.

The expected drop in farm income and rise in interest rates could significantly cool the farmland market, which saw Class A land values increase a whopping 45% from 2021 to 2022 statewide, according to the Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

After a ninth-straight increase last month, the benchmark federal funds rate is up to a range of 4.75% to 5%, which pushed borrowing costs to the highest level since 2007.

“Farm asset values have increased with land prices in recent years, and another increase is projected for 2023,” FAPRI stated. “Given assumptions of the outlook, lower farm income and high interest rates restrict further increases in farm real estate values in subsequent years.”

Saved Client $34,699.79 WOODROW WILCOX On March 31, 2023, I made phone calls from my office to help a client correct a billing problem to stop a hospital from pursuing him for $34,699.79. The wrongful bill was caused by a series of mistakes by Medicare.

The client switched from his employer’s group insurance to Medicare on October 1, 2022. But Medicare did not get around to correcting his Medicare record until March 4, 2023.

In January, our client had major surgery which cost over $250,000. When the hospital filed the claim for his surgery, Medicare denied it because Medicare records said that the client was still on his employer’s group insurance. The hospital billed our client because they wanted the money.

I had the client with me in my office to grant me permission to speak and question on his behalf. I had already reviewed the papers before we started making calls. I had an idea of what the problems were, but I wanted detailed information to give to the hospital to help them get their money and not bother our client.

Our client’s problem never would have happened if Medicare updated records in a timely manner. In this case, it

took Medicare over five months to update the client’s Medicare file so that claims could be processed correctly.

In my letter to the hospital, I said that this problem was not caused by our client (their patient) or by the hospital. Medicare caused the problem. My work to help the client saved him $34,699.79.

All the help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. This insurance agency helps all our clients with Medicare related medical bill problems at no charge. It is one of the ways that we demonstrate that we care about our clients. If your insurance agent or agency does not give this high level of customer service, maybe you should switch to our agency.

Bill requiring schools to teach Native American history heads to Senate floor

By NIKA SCHOONOVER Capitol News Illinois nschoonover@capitolnewsillinois.com SPRINGFIELD – Lawmakers advanced a measure that would require public elementary and high schools to include a unit of Native American history in their social studies curriculum, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

House Bill 1633 passed out of a Senate committee this week with a 10-3 vote after passing the House 75-32 last month. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration before it can head to Gov. JB Pritzker.

The measure also requires the State Education Equity Committee, which provides recommendations for advancing equity in education, include a representative from an organization that works for “economic, educational, and social progress for Native Americans.”

According to Andrew Johnson, executive director of the Native American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, the lack of Native American representation on the committee was a “serious oversight” that didn’t reflect the state’s diversity.

“This is one of the many examples where the lack of proper education has deprived our citizens of discovering the full extent of the complexity, interrelations and impact of the people who originally inhabited this land and who continue to live here today,” Johnson said in committee.

While the legislation does not actually create curriculum for the history course, it does specify the unit should include Native American contributions in “government and the arts, humanities, and sciences, as well as the contributions of Native Americans to

the economic, cultural, social, and political development of their own nations and of the United States.”

The bill also requires the unit of instruction to include descriptions of large urban Native American populations in Illinois and, for grades 6 through 12, a section on the genocide of and discrimination against Native Americans.

While the Illinois State Board of Education would provide instructional materials and guidelines for the development of the curriculum, each school district would be required to develop it on their own. Additionally, each school board will have to determine the minimum amount of time that qualifies as a unit of instruction.

It was sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Suzy Glowiak Hilton, who said in committee that teaching the subject matter has been “overlooked for far too long.”

Joseph Rupnick, chairman for Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, said in committee that Native Americans experience higher suicide rates because of cultural disconnection, alienation and pressure to assimilate. He added the inclusion of their history in school curriculum may help them feel further connected to their community and history.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. suicide rate increased 33 percent from 1999 to 2017. Over the same period, the suicide rate for American Indian or Alaska Native women increased by 139 percent and 71 percent for men.

“Integrating Native history in our education system will help discriminatory myths about Native Americans in an inclusive environment free of caricatures of our families, parodies of our tradition and words that diminish our worth,” Rupnick said.

Chicago mayor-elect hails Illinois as ‘vanguard for progressive policy’ in speech to lawmakers

By JERRY NOWICKI & ANDREW ADAMS Capitol News Illinois news@capitolnewsillinois.com SPRINGFIELD – Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson said Wednesday his goal was to unify the state while calling Illinois a “vanguard for progressive policy all over this country” in an address to a joint session of the General Assembly.

Johnson, a former middle school teacher and one-time staffer for Senate President Don Harmon, said he came to Springfield to “establish a productive, collaborative and energetic partnership to invest in the people of Chicago and the engine of this economy here in Illinois.”

Some of Johnson’s agenda for the city, such as increasing the city’s real estate transfer tax on properties exceeding $1 million, would require action from the General Assembly. In his speech to lawmakers, he also supported a “revised school funding formula,” with unspecified changes that would “help ensure there is a nurse and a social worker in every single school in Chicago.”

“I stand ready to continue to make those strong investments and to deliver on the promise of fully funded neighborhood schools,” he said. “Public education at the expense of the state, after all, is a Negro idea.”

One major ask for state funding was an increase to the Local Government Distributive Fund, a share of the state’s income tax that is directed to local municipalities across Illinois. It was originally earmarked for 10 percent of those revenues to go to municipalities in 1969, but that number has decreased over the years to 6.16 percent of personal income tax collections and 6.85 percent of corporate income taxes.

Mayors from across the state were in Springfield Tuesday night to request that funding be increased to 10 percent once again over the next four fiscal years. That would cost about $250 million for each percentage point the rate is increased.

“By increasing funding, this body can help provide Chicago and cities and towns across the state with the resources that are needed to build from the ground up,” Johnson said. “And when we build a better, stronger, safer Chicago we are building a better, stronger safer Illinois.”

He praised recent state budgets that included hundreds of millions of dollars aimed at addressing gun violence with youth intervention programs, and increasing spending on public schools, domestic violence prevention and trauma recovery centers.

Johnson’s speech aimed to weave a staunchly liberal agenda with a conciliatory tone.

“For years, they’ve told us that this is a zerosum game, that if something’s good for Chicago, well, that means we’re taking something away from Peoria,” Johnson said. “They tell us that the challenges that we face in the city of Chicago and families like mine, on the West Side of Chicago, aren’t the same challenges shared by families from Rockford to Carbondale from East St. Louis to Champaign, and everywhere in between.”

It’s an approach that didn’t land with House Republican Leader Tony McCombie, of Savanna.

“House Republicans were open to hearing the mayor-elect’s vision for Chicago, but what we heard today was a partisan political speech unheard of in our legislative chamber,” she said in a statement. “Where Mayor Johnson says he wants to collaborate on job growth, support law enforcement, and increase education funding, Republicans will be good partners. However, we won’t stand for rhetoric that divides our state, burdens Illinois families, or support bailouts for ineffective programming.”

The strongest pushback from Republicans came regarding the mayor-elect’s stance on public safety.

His recent election win over a more conservative candidate, Paul Vallas, was an electoral mandate for his response to crime in the city, he said.

“Public safety is a prerequisite to the prosperity of Chicago,” he said. “And the voters have sent a clear message that they want to get smart, not just tough on crime. We have a mandate to make bold, necessary investments that address the root causes

of violence.”

His plan includes adding 200 detectives in the city and expanding mental health services for police officers, who are asked to do too much, he said.

His agenda would also aim to decrease the city’ unemployment rates of 19 percent for those 16 to 19 years old and 12 percent for those 20 to 24 years old.

“As a result, too many young Chicagoans feel there is nowhere to turn,” he said. “Instead of lagging behind other major cities on youth summer jobs, Chicago will look to aggressively expand the number of jobs for young people. We’ll do it by bringing government, philanthropy, the private enterprises together around our common interests to invest in people, particularly young people.”

The mayor-elect’s visit to Springfield comes after a weekend of widely publicized reports of property damage and assault in downtown Chicago. Videos circulated on social media showing large gatherings in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood and at a beach on the city’s South Side, with at least one showing a group of young people assaulting a woman.

Johnson issued a statement on Sunday calling for the creation of “spaces for youth to gather safely and responsibly, under adult guidance and supervision.”

“In no way do I condone the destructive activity we saw in the Loop and lakefront this weekend,” Johnson said in the statement. “It is unacceptable and has no place in our city. However, it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities.”

The violence — and Jonson’s statement — have attracted criticism.

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, a Democrat who ran for mayor earlier this year, in an appearance on Fox News, said that the city needs to deal with “the here and now,” not just the “root causes” of crime.

“We absolutely need to demonize this kind of behavior because this is unacceptable,” Lopez said on Fox. “We know not all of our youth are bad, but we do know there are organized efforts to bring them downtown and other neighborhoods to cause chaos and pandemonium.”

Some conservative downstate lawmakers called a news conference following Johnson’s address to criticize his plans for addressing violence in the city.

While Rep. Brad Halbrook, R-Shelbyville, said downstate lawmakers respect the city’s role as an economic engine, they believe the violence in Chicago poses a threat to business and tourism. The Republicans sought a tougher approach to policing with more accountability for those committing crimes.

“Imagine being a Missouri resident contemplating visiting Chicago and seeing what has happened on Michigan Avenue,” Halbrook said. “People do not want to visit places where they may get mugged or beaten.”

Rep. Dan Caulkins, R-Decatur, spoke directly to the camera in addressing potential attendees of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which Johnson celebrated in his speech.

“What you saw last weekend is just the tip of the iceberg,” Caulkins said. “It’s just the beginning. Be very aware of the environment that you’re being invited to.”

Johnson defended his statement on the violence in the city at a news conference on Wednesday following the address.

“You can make sure that we eradicate the root causes that lead to violence,” Johnson said. “And we also can make sure that there’s support on the front line to make sure that we’re preventing violence.”
