Pray About Everything This mont h we w ill soon be celebrating anot her T ha n k sg iv i ng. A nd t houg h each of us have much to be thankful for, there will be many who will miss an opportunity to express their gratitude because they are consumed with worry and fear. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks to God and enjoy a feast with family or friends. Certainly there is nothing wrong with enjoying a meal with others, a blessing to be sure. But it seems today that much more emphasis is given to the feasting portion of the holiday than the side of giving thanks. This may be attributed to the fact that today so many people are fretting about tomorrow. We live in an uncertain world, where things are happening faster than we can imagine or believe. And the opportunity to take on fear and anxiety is only increasing. Natural disasters, famine, disease, terrorism, hostility among the nations, and rising costs are just a few of the things that plague society in general. In view of all this is there any way we can live peaceful and quiet lives, and be sincerely thankful as well? Thankfully we can. The t wo key factors are simple trust in God and changing our way of thinking. The Bible tells us not to worry about anything, but instead to pray about everything. We should tell God what is needed and thank Him for all He has done, and then we will experience God’s peace. Worrying is both unnecessary and unfruitful. Worry robs us of our joy, hinders our capacity to help others, can cause physical sickness, and prevents us from having grateful hearts. Contrary to what many think, worrying will not bring about a solution to their problem. This Thanksgiv ing let’s make ever y effort to give thanks unto God for all that He’s done for us, even if we are experiencing difficulty or aff liction. Let’s be openly thankful for our families, our community and neighbors, our local churches, and the great future that lies ahead for this village. All these things are truly a feast to enjoy even more than any delicacies imaginable. Pastor Pete Tassio The King’s Community Church
