Discover the skills and thrills of archery! The Calumet Memorial Park District and the Porter County Chapter and the Indiana Division of the Izaak Walton League of America are offering a free Mobile Archery Clinic for kids in Kindergarten thru 8th Grade. This free event will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Sandridge Community Center, 600 Oglesby Ave. in Calumet City. Parents or legal guardians must accompany all youth participants, and must sign a waiver. All participants will undergo a safety briefing prior to handling equipment. You can update your dog for the entire year for only $65 with dog well pack that includes the 1 year rabies vaccine (county tag additional), 6 in 1 distemper combo, Bordetella vaccine, and a heartworm test. For cats we offer our cat well pack for $33 which includes the 1 year rabies vaccine (county tag additional),& FVRCP distemper combo. All services can also be purchased individually. Senator Napoleon Harris Presents Scholarship Program High School District 205 and Illinois State Senator Napoleon Harris are teaming up to assist high school students qualify for college and university scholarships. A large amount of financial aid goes unused both in this area and across the country. The Infinite Scholars Program matches deserving high school students with available funds. Senator Harris said, “I encourage area high school students to take this opportunity to meet face-to-face with college and university admissions representatives for a chance to be awarded scholarships on-site.� Thornwood High School at 17101 South Park Ave. in South Holland will be the event location. The times for students to meet with college reps will be on Thursday September 24 from 4:00-8:00pm. Students are required to bring multiple copies of their unofficial High School Transcripts, ACT/SAT Scores and two letters of recommendation.
