Question: When do people typically use small claims court to settle their legal disputes? Answer: An individual or corporation doing business in Illinois can sue or be sued in small claims court. Small claims court may be used for only certain types of cases, such as breach of contract, property damage, or personal injury; evictions, repossessions of property, and garnishment of wages to enforce court-ordered judgments. The maximum judgment allowed in small claims court is $10,000 plus costs. For more information about Illinois law, visit www. illinoislawyerfinder.com. Question: My home was damaged by the recent storms, and I need assistance wading through the complexities of insurance claims and home repair contracts. Where can I go for help? Answer: The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) can refer you to a practicing lawyer in your area who has agreed to provide an initial half-hour consultation for a fee not to exceed $25. There is no obligation to hire the lawyer. Call 877-622-3845 or visit www.illinoislawyerfinder.com. Among the services that an ISBA lawyer may provide are assistance with insurance claims, home repair contracts and consumer protection matters; counsel on landlord-tenant, mortgage foreclosure or other housing issues; replacement of important legal documents which may have been destroyed; and assistance in connecting people with agencies that might be able to help.

How to improve credit and savings

arthur v. veal iv In my opinion only two things can help you reach your financial goals. These two things are credit and savings. So here are some tips on how to get your credit and your savings in better condition and position yourself for success. First, you must be willing to change some of your habits and begin to save. The art of saving has been lost in recent times for Americans. Fewer and fewer younger families are saving anything. It has almost become the norm in some circles to live paycheck to paycheck. In order to begin to accomplish financial goals you must become more of a saver. This will benefit you in other areas of your finances as well. Now most people say “I can’t save because I don’t make enough” but the truth of the matter is that you can save. You just have to choose what is more important. Is saving more important or premium cable? Is saving more important or do you have to go out every single weekend? Saving is possible but often times it will take some form of sacrifice. The funny thing is that after you cut things off they will seem less and less significant anyway... In fact often after you cut things off you will begin to wonder why that thing was so important

anyway. The savings offers its own set of rewards. The other part of the equation is effectively using your credit. Even if you have had a job loss or a medical setback, you are responsible for correcting what you can. You can correct credit problems by talking with your creditors. If you cannot pay your creditor the agreed amount, then let them know what you can pay. Setup a payment schedule that works for you. If you are too far behind on payments then try to settle the entire balance with your creditor. Call them and let them know what you are willing to pay them and ask if they want to accept that amount. If they say no then call the next creditor and ask them the same thing until one of your creditors says yes, they will accept it. These actions can help your finances drastically and put you on a path to financial success. These are all small changes with very big results. So take inventory of what you can live without and get started TODAY! Until next week, Good luck and God Bless and remember… If you want to sell your house within 7 days regardless of if you have equity… check out our informative website at www.sellonterms.com for more information.
