It is frequently used for hu morous or dra mat ic ef fect, s ome t i me s pr o duc i n g a n a nt i c l i m a x . S om e paraprosdokians not only change the meaning of an early phrase, but they also play on the double meaning of a particular word. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
