B E ACH RUL ES & SAFETY

Stay Safe. Have Fun. Myrtle Beach is a fun and safe destination, but staying vigilant, especially around water, is important for a worry-free trip. With thousands of visitors swimming daily, the area has an excellent safety record. By following a few simple precautions, you’ll ensure a safe and enjoyable experience during your time at The Beach.

Water Safety • • • • •

Swim near lifeguards and follow beach safety flags. Swim with a buddy and avoid alcohol while swimming. Stay away from piers and fishing areas when in the water. Don’t fight strong currents; instead, float and signal for help. Note beach access markers to help locate your group if separated.

Pool Safety • • • •

Always supervise children around pools and avoid distractions. Use life jackets instead of inflatable toys for safety. Teach kids to swim before visiting and enter water feet first. Learn CPR for emergencies.

Family Safety • • • • • •

Note beach access locations, particularly with children, to ensure everyone knows their way. Stay close to lifeguard-protected areas and teach kids to recognize safety flags.

Beach Rules • •

Set up clear meeting points in case anyone gets lost.

•

Keep children hydrated and apply sunscreen frequently during long beach days.

•

Equip children with waterproof ID bracelets or write contact info on their wristbands.

•

Make sure kids wear protective footwear like water shoes to avoid injuries from sharp objects or hot sand.

Follow local ordinances, which are posted at beach access points. Tents and umbrellas must not block lifeguard views or be set up in restricted areas. Tents are prohibited in certain areas during peak season. Glass containers and fireworks are not allowed on the beach. Swimming is not permitted beyond 50 yards from shore.

Area Rules • • • •

Observe parking rules and regulations; no oversize vehicles in garages or streets. Motorcyclists should wear helmets and follow parking restrictions. Minors under 18 must observe local curfew from midnight to 6 a.m. No loitering or open containers in parking lots after hours.
